Ein Weisheitslied Asafs. Warum, Gott, hast du uns für immer verstoßen, warum raucht dein Zorn gegen die Herde deiner Weide?
Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
Gedenke deiner Gemeinde, die du vorzeiten erworben, die du ausgelöst als Stamm, dir zum Erbe, des Bergs Zion, auf dem du Wohnung genommen!
Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
Erhebe deine Schritte zu den bleibenden Trümmern! Der Feind hat im Heiligtum alles verwüstet.
Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.
Deine Widersacher lärmten mitten in der Stätte deiner Gegenwart, ihre Feldzeichen stellten sie als Zeichen auf.
A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.
Es sah aus, wie wenn man hochschwingt die Äxte im Dickicht des Waldes,
But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.
so zerschlugen sie all das Schnitzwerk mit Beil und Hacke.
They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
Sie legten an dein Heiligtum Feuer, entweihten die Wohnung deines Namens bis auf den Grund.
They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
Sie sagten in ihrem Herzen: Wir schlagen alles zusammen! Sie verbrannten alle Stätten der Gegenwart Gottes im Land.
We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
Zeichen für uns sehen wir nicht, es ist kein Prophet mehr da, niemand mehr ist bei uns, der weiß, wie lange noch.
O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
Wie lange, Gott, darf der Bedränger noch schmähen, darf der Feind für immer deinen Namen lästern?
Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom.
Warum ziehst du deine Hand zurück und deine Rechte? Hol sie heraus aus deinem Gewand und mach ein Ende!
For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
Doch Gott ist mein König von alters her, Taten der Rettung wirkt er mitten auf der Erde.
Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
Du hast mit deiner Macht das Meer zerspalten, die Häupter der Drachen über den Wassern zerschmettert.
Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
Du hast die Köpfe des Leviatan zermalmt, ihn zum Fraß gegeben den Ungeheuern der See.
Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers.
Du hast Quellen und Bäche hervorbrechen lassen, du hast Ströme austrocknen lassen, die sonst nie versiegen.
The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.
Dein ist der Tag, dein auch die Nacht, du hast hingestellt eine Leuchte und die Sonne.
Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
Du hast festgesetzt alle Grenzen der Erde, Sommer und Winter, du hast sie gebildet.
Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.
Denk daran: Der Feind schmäht den HERRN, ein törichtes Volk lästert deinen Namen.
O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.
Gib das Leben deiner Taube nicht dem Raubtier preis, das Leben deiner Armen vergiss nicht für immer!
Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
Schau auf den Bund, denn die finsteren Plätze des Landes sind voll mit Auen der Gewalt!
O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.
Der Bedrückte gehe nicht beschämt davon, der Elende und der Arme lobe deinen Namen.
Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.
Steh auf, Gott, führe deinen Streit! Gedenke, wie die Toren dich den ganzen Tag verhöhnen!
