Ein Lied von Asaf. Gott steht auf inmitten der Götter, in ihrer Versammlung erhebt er Anklage:
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
»Wie lange noch wollt ihr das Recht verdrehen, wenn ihr eure Urteile sprecht? Wie lange noch wollt ihr Partei ergreifen für Menschen, die sich mir widersetzen?
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Verhelft den Wehrlosen und Waisen zu ihrem Recht! Behandelt die Armen und Bedürftigen, wie es ihnen zusteht!
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
Reißt sie aus den Klauen ihrer Unterdrücker!«
They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
Aber sie handeln ohne Sinn und Verstand; sie irren im Dunkeln umher und sehen nicht, dass durch ihre Bosheit die Welt ins Wanken gerät.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Zwar hatte ich ihnen gesagt: »Ihr seid Götter! Ihr alle seid Söhne des Höchsten!
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
Aber wie gewöhnliche Menschen müsst auch ihr sterben; euer Leben wird genauso enden wie das eines jeden Herrschers!«
