Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

Frau Weisheit hat ein Haus gebaut und es mit sieben Säulen ausgestattet.
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
Sie hat ein Festessen vorbereitet, Wein mit feinen Gewürzen gemischt und den Tisch gedeckt.
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
Ihren Dienstmädchen befahl sie: »Geht auf den Marktplatz der Stadt und ruft:
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
›Ihr Unerfahrenen — kommt zu mir! Wem es an Vernunft fehlt,
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
den lade ich ein. Kommt, esst euch satt und trinkt meinen guten Wein!
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
Bleibt nicht länger unverständig, sondern werdet reif und besonnen! Dann wird euer Leben gelingen.‹«
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
Wer einen Spötter ermahnt, erntet nichts als Verachtung, und wer einen gottlosen Menschen tadelt, kommt nicht heil davon.
Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Darum weise nie einen Spötter zurecht, sonst hasst er dich. Ermahne lieber einen verständigen Menschen, denn er wird dich dafür lieben.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
Unterweise den Klugen, und er wird noch klüger. Belehre den, der Gott gehorcht, und er wird immer mehr dazulernen.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Alle Weisheit beginnt damit, dass man Ehrfurcht vor dem HERRN hat. Den heiligen Gott kennen, das ist Einsicht!
For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
Ich, die Weisheit, schenke dir ein langes Leben.
If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
Du tust dir selbst etwas Gutes, wenn du weise bist; aber wenn du über alles mit Spott hinweggehst, schadest du dir selbst.

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
Sie sitzt vor ihrer Haustür, hoch oben am Marktplatz der Stadt,
To call passengers who go right on their ways:
und ruft allen zu, die vorbeigehen und an nichts Böses denken:
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
»Wer unerfahren ist, den lade ich ein!« Sie beschwatzt die Unvernünftigen:
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
»Das Wasser anderer Leute ist ein Genuss, und nichts schmeckt besser als gestohlenes Brot!«
