The Excellence of Wisdom
Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
Hört! Die Weisheit ruft, und die Einsicht lässt ihre Stimme erschallen!
She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
Man sieht sie auf allen Straßen und Plätzen, an den Toren der Stadt — dort, wo jeder sie sehen kann — steht sie und ruft:
Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
»Hört her, ja, ich meine euch alle!
O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
Ihr Unerfahrenen, werdet reif und vernünftig! Ihr Dummköpfe, nehmt doch endlich Verstand an!
Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
Hört auf mich, denn von mir bekommt ihr guten Rat. Auf meine Worte ist Verlass.
For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
Ich halte mich immer an die Wahrheit, denn gottloses Gerede ist mir zuwider.
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
Alles, was ich sage, ist ehrlich; Hinterlist oder Betrug sind mir fremd.
They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
Meine Worte sind klar und deutlich für jeden, der sie verstehen will.
Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
Darum nehmt meine Ermahnung an, achtet sie mehr als Silber oder Gold.
For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
Weisheit ist wertvoller als die kostbarste Perle, sie übertrifft alles, was ihr euch erträumt.
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
Ich bin die Weisheit, und zu mir gehört die Klugheit. Ich handle überlegt und besonnen.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Wer Ehrfurcht vor dem HERRN hat, der hasst das Böse. Ich verachte Stolz und Hochmut, ein Leben voller Bosheit und Lüge ist mir ein Gräuel!
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
Ich stehe euch mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, ich verleihe Klugheit und Macht.
By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
Mit meiner Hilfe regieren Könige und erlassen Staatsmänner gerechte Gesetze.
By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
Alle Machthaber der Welt, alle, die für das Recht sorgen, können nur durch mich regieren.
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Ich liebe den, der mich liebt; wer sich um mich bemüht, der wird mich finden.
Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
Ansehen und Reichtum biete ich an, bleibenden Besitz und Erfolg.
My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
Was ihr von mir bekommt, ist wertvoller als das feinste Gold, besser als das reinste Silber.
I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
Wo Menschen gerecht miteinander umgehen und nach Gottes Willen fragen, da bin ich zu Hause;
That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
alle, die mich lieben, beschenke ich mit Reichtum; ja, es fehlt ihnen an nichts!
The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
Der HERR schuf mich vor langer Zeit, ich war sein erstes Werk, noch vor allen anderen.
I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
In grauer Vorzeit hat er mich gebildet; und so war ich schon da, als es die Erde noch gar nicht gab.
When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
Lange bevor das Meer entstand, wurde ich geboren. Zu dieser Zeit gab es noch keine Quellen,
Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
und es standen weder Berge noch Hügel.
While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
Ich war schon da, bevor Gott die Erde mit ihren Wiesen und Feldern erschuf, ja, noch vor dem ersten Staubkorn.
When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
Ich war dabei, als Gott den Himmel formte, als er den Horizont aufspannte über dem Ozean,
When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
als die Wolken entstanden und die Quellen aus der Tiefe hervorsprudelten,
When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
als er das Meer in die Schranken wies, die das Wasser nicht überschreiten durfte, als er das Fundament der Erde legte —
Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
da war ich ständig an seiner Seite. Tag für Tag erfreute ich mich an Gott und seinen Werken,
Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
ich tanzte vor Freude auf seiner Erde und war glücklich über die Menschen.
Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
Darum hört auf mich, ihr jungen Männer! Richtet euch nach mir, und ihr werdet glücklich.
Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Nehmt Belehrung an und weist sie nicht zurück, dann werdet ihr klug!
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
Glücklich ist, wer auf mich hört und jeden Tag erwartungsvoll vor meiner Tür steht!
For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
Wer mich findet, der findet das Leben, und an einem solchen Menschen hat der HERR Gefallen.
