Wenn Brüder beieinander wohnen und einer stirbt ohne Kinder, so soll des Verstorbenen Weib nicht einen fremden Mann draußen nehmen; sondern ihr Schwager soll sich zu ihr tun und sie zum Weibe nehmen und sie ehelichen.

Wenn ein verheirateter Mann kinderlos stirbt und in der Nähe ein Bruder von ihm lebt, muss dieser die Witwe zur Frau nehmen. Sie soll keinen Mann außerhalb der Familie heiraten, sondern ihren Schwager.

Wenn zwei Brüder zusammenwohnen und der eine von ihnen stirbt und keinen Sohn hat, soll die Frau des Verstorbenen nicht die Frau eines fremden Mannes außerhalb der Familie werden. Ihr Schwager soll sich ihrer annehmen, sie heiraten und die Schwagerehe mit ihr vollziehen.

Widowhood and Marriage
If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her. -
