Elihu in Anger Rebukes Job
Then these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

Nun hörten jene drei Männer auf, Ijob zu entgegnen, weil er gerecht war in seinen eigenen Augen.
But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned; against Job his anger burned because he justified himself before God.
Da entbrannte der Zorn Elihus, des Sohnes Barachels, des Busiters aus dem Geschlecht Ram. Gegen Ijob entbrannte sein Zorn, weil er sich für gerechter hielt als Gott.
And his anger burned against his three friends because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
Auch gegen seine drei Freunde entbrannte sein Zorn, weil sie keine Antwort mehr gefunden und Ijob schuldig gesprochen hatten.
Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were years older than he.
Elihu aber hatte Ijob gegenüber mit Worten gezögert, weil jene älter waren als er.
And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men his anger burned.
Doch als Elihu sah, dass die drei Männer keine Antwort mehr wussten, entbrannte sein Zorn.
So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said,
“I am young in years and you are old;
Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think.

Da ergriff Elihu, der Sohn Barachels, der Busiter, das Wort und sprach: Noch bin ich jung an Jahren, doch ihr seid hochbetagt; deshalb hielt ich mich zurück und scheute mich, euch mein Wissen zu beweisen.
“I thought age should speak,
And increased years should teach wisdom.
And increased years should teach wisdom.
Ich dachte: Mag erst das Alter reden, der Jahre Fülle Weisheit künden.
“But it is a spirit in man,
And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
Jedoch, es ist der Geist im Menschen, des Allmächtigen Hauch, der ihn verständig macht.
“The abundant in years may not be wise,
Nor may elders understand justice.
Nor may elders understand justice.
Nicht viele sind weise noch Greise stets des Rechten kundig.
“So I say, ‘Listen to me,
I too will tell what I think.’

Darum sage ich: Hört mich an! Beweisen will auch ich mein Wissen.
“Behold, I waited for your words,
I listened to your reasonings,
While you pondered what to say.

Seht, gewartet habe ich auf eure Worte, gelauscht auf eure klugen Sprüche, bis ihr die rechten Worte fändet.
“I even paid close attention to you;
Indeed, there was no one who refuted Job,
Not one of you who answered his words.

Ich bin euch aufmerksam gefolgt, doch seht, keiner hat Ijob widerlegt, keiner von euch ihm zu entgegnen vermocht.
“Do not say,
‘We have found wisdom;
God will rout him, not man.’
‘We have found wisdom;
God will rout him, not man.’
Sagt nicht: Wir haben die Weisheit gefunden. Gott wird ihn vertreiben, nicht ein Mensch.
“For he has not arranged his words against me,
Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
Nicht gegen mich richten sich seine Reden, nicht mit euren Worten werde ich ihm entgegnen.
“They are dismayed, they no longer answer;
Words have failed them.
Words have failed them.
Besiegt sind sie, geben keine Antwort mehr, die Worte sind ihnen ausgegangen.
“Shall I wait, because they do not speak,
Because they stop and no longer answer?
Because they stop and no longer answer?
Soll ich nun warten, wenn sie nicht reden, wenn sie dastehen, nichts mehr zu sagen wissen?
“I too will answer my share,
I also will tell my opinion.
I also will tell my opinion.
So will auch ich nun meinen Teil erwidern, beweisen will auch ich mein Wissen.
“For I am full of words;
The spirit within me constrains me.

Denn angefüllt bin ich mit Worten, mich drängt der Geist in meiner Brust.
“Behold, my belly is like unvented wine,
Like new wineskins it is about to burst.
Like new wineskins it is about to burst.
Mein Inneres ist wie Wein, der keine Luft hat, wie neue Schläuche muss es bersten.
“Let me speak that I may get relief;
Let me open my lips and answer.
Let me open my lips and answer.
Reden will ich, dann wird mir leichter, ich öffne meine Lippen und entgegne.
“Let me now be partial to no one,
Nor flatter any man.
Nor flatter any man.
Ich will für niemanden Partei ergreifen und keinem Menschen schmeicheln.
