Moses Given Powers
Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”

Mose wandte ein: »Was ist, wenn die Israeliten mir nicht glauben und nicht auf mich hören? Bestimmt sagen sie: ›Der HERR ist dir gar nicht erschienen!‹«
The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff.”
Da fragte ihn der HERR: »Was hast du da in der Hand?« »Einen Stab«, erwiderte Mose.
Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.
»Wirf ihn auf den Boden!«, befahl der Herr. Mose gehorchte, und sofort verwandelte sich der Stab in eine Schlange. Erschrocken wich Mose zurück.
But the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail” — so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand —
Der HERR aber forderte ihn auf: »Pack die Schlange beim Schwanz!« Mose griff nach ihr, und sie wurde in seiner Hand wieder zum Stab.
“that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
Der HERR sagte: »Tu dies vor den Augen der Israeliten! Dann werden sie dir glauben, dass ich, der HERR, dir erschienen bin, der Gott ihrer Vorfahren, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs.
The LORD furthermore said to him, “Now put your hand into your bosom.” So he put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow.
Und nun steck deine Hand in dein Gewand!« Mose gehorchte, und als er die Hand wieder herauszog, war sie plötzlich schneeweiß — sie war aussätzig geworden.
Then He said, “Put your hand into your bosom again.” So he put his hand into his bosom again, and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.
»Steck die Hand noch einmal in das Gewand!«, befahl der Herr. Als Mose sie dann wieder herauszog, war der Aussatz verschwunden. Die Hand war so gesund wie der Rest seines Körpers.
“If they will not believe you or heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe the witness of the last sign.
Gott sagte: »Wenn die Israeliten dir nicht glauben und das erste Zeichen nicht beachten, werden sie sicher nach dem zweiten Zeichen auf dich hören.
“But if they will not believe even these two signs or heed what you say, then you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground; and the water which you take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.”
Wollen sie dir aber trotz dieser beiden Zeichen nicht glauben und deine Botschaft nicht beachten, dann schöpfe Wasser aus dem Nil und gieß es auf den Boden. Dieses Wasser wird zu Blut werden!«
Then Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
»Ach, Herr«, entgegnete Mose, »ich bin noch nie ein guter Redner gewesen. Auch jetzt, wo du mit mir sprichst, hat sich daran nichts geändert. Zum Reden habe ich einfach kein Talent, die Worte kommen mir nur schwer über die Lippen.«
The LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
Aber der HERR sagte: »Wer hat denn den Menschen einen Mund gegeben? Und wer ist es, der sie stumm oder taub, sehend oder blind macht? Das bin doch wohl ich, der HERR!
“Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.”
Darum geh jetzt! Ich bin bei dir und werde dir sagen, was du reden sollst.«
But he said, “Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.”
Doch Mose bat: »Ach, Herr, sende doch lieber einen anderen!«
Aaron to Be Moses’ Mouthpiece
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
Da wurde der HERR zornig und erwiderte: »Ich weiß, dass dein Bruder Aaron, der Levit, sehr gut reden kann. Er ist schon unterwegs und kommt dir entgegen. Er wird sich von Herzen freuen, wenn er dich wiedersieht.
“You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do.
Sag ihm, was er den Israeliten ausrichten soll. Ich will bei euch sein, wenn ihr reden müsst, und ich werde euch zeigen, was ihr tun sollt.
“Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and he will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him.
Aaron soll an deiner Stelle zu den Israeliten sprechen. Was du ihm aufträgst, soll er ausrichten, als hätte ich selbst es ihm gesagt.
“You shall take in your hand this staff, with which you shall perform the signs.”
Vergiss auch deinen Stab nicht, denn mit ihm wirst du die Zeichen tun, die deinen Auftrag bestätigen!«
Then Moses departed and returned to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Please, let me go, that I may return to my brethren who are in Egypt, and see if they are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
Mose ging zurück zu seinem Schwiegervater Jitro und sagte: »Ich möchte gerne zu meinen Verwandten nach Ägypten ziehen, um zu sehen, ob sie noch leben.« Jitro antwortete: »Geh nur, ich wünsche dir alles Gute!«
Now the LORD said to Moses in Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all the men who were seeking your life are dead.”
Noch während Mose in Midian war, sagte der HERR: »Du kannst jetzt ohne Gefahr nach Ägypten zurückkehren, denn inzwischen sind alle gestorben, die dich töten wollten!«
So Moses took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the staff of God in his hand.
Mose ließ seine Frau und die Söhne auf einen Esel steigen und machte sich auf den Weg zurück nach Ägypten; den Stab Gottes nahm er mit.
The LORD said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.
Der HERR sprach zu ihm: »Wenn du in Ägypten bist, dann sollst du alle Zeichen vor dem Pharao tun, zu denen ich dich bevollmächtigt habe! Aber ich werde dafür sorgen, dass der Pharao unnachgiebig bleibt und mein Volk nicht ziehen lässt.
“Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Israel is My son, My firstborn.
Dann sollst du ihm ausrichten: ›So spricht der HERR: Das Volk Israel ist mein erstgeborener Sohn.
“So I said to you, ‘Let My son go that he may serve Me’; but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.”’”
Ich befehle dir: Lass meinen Sohn ziehen, denn er soll mir dienen! Weigerst du dich, werde ich dafür deinen erstgeborenen Sohn töten!‹«
Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death.
Als Mose und seine Familie einmal unterwegs übernachteten, fiel der HERR über Mose her und wollte ihn töten.
Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin and threw it at Moses’ feet, and she said, “You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me.”
Da nahm Zippora rasch einen scharfen Stein, schnitt die Vorhaut am Glied ihres Sohnes ab und berührte damit Moses Füße. Dann sagte sie zu ihm: »Du bist mein Blutsbräutigam!«
So He let him alone. At that time she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood” — because of the circumcision.
Da verschonte Gott Moses Leben. Zippora hatte Mose »Blutsbräutigam« genannt, weil sie ihren Sohn beschnitten hatte.
Now the LORD said to Aaron, “Go to meet Moses in the wilderness.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.
Inzwischen hatte der HERR auch zu Aaron geredet: »Geh Mose entgegen in die Wüste!« Da brach Aaron auf. Er begegnete Mose am Berg Gottes und küsste ihn zur Begrüßung.
Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD with which He had sent him, and all the signs that He had commanded him to do.
Mose berichtete Aaron, mit welchen Worten der HERR ihn nach Ägypten gesandt hatte, und erzählte ihm von den Wundern, die er tun sollte.
Then Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the sons of Israel;
Gemeinsam zogen sie dann nach Ägypten; dort versammelten sie alle Sippenoberhäupter der Israeliten.
and Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses. He then performed the signs in the sight of the people.
Aaron teilte ihnen Wort für Wort mit, was der HERR zu Mose gesagt hatte, und Mose tat die Wunder vor aller Augen.
So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD was concerned about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed low and worshiped.
Die versammelten Israeliten glaubten ihnen. Als sie hörten, dass der HERR ihr Elend gesehen hatte und ihnen helfen wollte, warfen sie sich nieder und beteten ihn an.
