“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Es wäre besser für ihn, man würde ihn mit einem Mühlstein um den Hals ins Meer werfen, als dass er für einen von diesen Kleinen zum Ärgernis wird.
“Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
Seht euch vor! Wenn dein Bruder sündigt, weise ihn zurecht; und wenn er umkehrt, vergib ihm!
“And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
Und wenn er sich siebenmal am Tag gegen dich versündigt und siebenmal wieder zu dir kommt und sagt: Ich will umkehren!, so sollst du ihm vergeben.
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.
Der Herr erwiderte: Wenn ihr Glauben hättet wie ein Senfkorn, würdet ihr zu diesem Maulbeerbaum sagen: Entwurzle dich und verpflanz dich ins Meer! und er würde euch gehorchen.
“Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down to eat’?
Wenn einer von euch einen Knecht hat, der pflügt oder das Vieh hütet, wird er etwa zu ihm, wenn er vom Feld kommt, sagen: Komm gleich her und begib dich zu Tisch?
“But will he not say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’?
Wird er nicht vielmehr zu ihm sagen: Mach mir etwas zu essen, gürte dich und bediene mich, bis ich gegessen und getrunken habe; danach kannst auch du essen und trinken.
“He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
Bedankt er sich etwa bei dem Knecht, weil er getan hat, was ihm befohlen wurde?
“So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”
So soll es auch bei euch sein: Wenn ihr alles getan habt, was euch befohlen wurde, sollt ihr sagen: Wir sind unnütze Knechte; wir haben nur unsere Schuldigkeit getan.
Ten Lepers Cleansed
While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
Und es geschah auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem: Jesus zog durch das Grenzgebiet von Samarien und Galiläa.
As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
Als er in ein Dorf hineingehen wollte, kamen ihm zehn Aussätzige entgegen. Sie blieben in der Ferne stehen
and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
und riefen: Jesus, Meister, hab Erbarmen mit uns!
When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed.
Als er sie sah, sagte er zu ihnen: Geht, zeigt euch den Priestern! Und es geschah, während sie hingingen, wurden sie rein.
Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
Einer von ihnen aber kehrte um, als er sah, dass er geheilt war; und er lobte Gott mit lauter Stimme.
and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
Er warf sich vor den Füßen Jesu auf das Angesicht und dankte ihm. Dieser Mann war ein Samariter.
Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine — where are they?
Da sagte Jesus: Sind nicht zehn rein geworden? Wo sind die neun?
“Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”
Ist denn keiner umgekehrt, um Gott zu ehren, außer diesem Fremden?
And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.”
Und er sagte zu ihm: Steh auf und geh! Dein Glaube hat dich gerettet.
Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;
Als Jesus von den Pharisäern gefragt wurde, wann das Reich Gottes komme, antwortete er: Das Reich Gottes kommt nicht so, dass man es beobachten könnte.
nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
Man kann auch nicht sagen: Seht, hier ist es! oder: Dort ist es! Denn siehe, das Reich Gottes ist mitten unter euch.
Second Coming Foretold
And He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
Er sagte zu den Jüngern: Es werden Tage kommen, in denen ihr euch danach sehnt, auch nur einen von den Tagen des Menschensohnes zu sehen; doch ihr werdet ihn nicht sehen.
“They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them.
Und man wird zu euch sagen: Siehe, dort ist er! Siehe, hier ist er! Geht nicht hin und lauft nicht hinterher!
“For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
Denn wie der Blitz von einem Ende des Himmels bis zum andern leuchtet, so wird der Menschensohn an seinem Tag erscheinen.
“But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
Vorher aber muss er vieles erleiden und von dieser Generation verworfen werden.
“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
Und wie es in den Tagen des Noach war, so wird es auch in den Tagen des Menschensohnes sein.
they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Die Menschen aßen und tranken und heirateten bis zu dem Tag, an dem Noach in die Arche ging; dann kam die Flut und vernichtete alle.
“It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
Und es wird ebenso sein, wie es in den Tagen des Lot war: Sie aßen und tranken, kauften und verkauften, pflanzten und bauten.
but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
Aber an dem Tag, als Lot Sodom verließ, regnete es Feuer und Schwefel vom Himmel und vernichtete alle.
“It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
Ebenso wird es an dem Tag sein, an dem der Menschensohn offenbar werden wird.
“On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back.
Wer an jenem Tag auf dem Dach ist und seine Sachen im Haus hat, soll nicht hinabsteigen, um sie zu holen, und wer auf dem Feld ist, soll sich ebenfalls nicht zurückwenden.
“Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
Wer sein Leben zu bewahren sucht, wird es verlieren; wer es dagegen verliert, wird es erhalten.
“I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
Ich sage euch: Von zwei Männern, die in dieser Nacht auf einem Bett liegen, wird der eine mitgenommen und der andere zurückgelassen.
“There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left.
Von zwei Frauen, die am selben Ort Getreide mahlen, wird die eine mitgenommen und die andere zurückgelassen. [36]
