Ich ermahne euch also, Brüder und Schwestern, kraft der Barmherzigkeit Gottes, eure Leiber als lebendiges, heiliges und Gott wohlgefälliges Opfer darzubringen — als euren geistigen Gottesdienst.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Und gleicht euch nicht dieser Welt an, sondern lasst euch verwandeln durch die Erneuerung des Denkens, damit ihr prüfen und erkennen könnt, was der Wille Gottes ist: das Gute, Wohlgefällige und Vollkommene!
For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Wir haben unterschiedliche Gaben, je nach der uns verliehenen Gnade. Hat einer die Gabe prophetischer Rede, dann rede er in Übereinstimmung mit dem Glauben;
if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching;
hat einer die Gabe des Dienens, dann diene er. Wer zum Lehren berufen ist, der lehre;
or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
wer zum Trösten und Ermahnen berufen ist, der tröste und ermahne. Wer gibt, gebe ohne Hintergedanken; wer Vorsteher ist, setze sich eifrig ein; wer Barmherzigkeit übt, der tue es freudig.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.
Die Liebe sei ohne Heuchelei. Verabscheut das Böse, haltet fest am Guten!
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;
Seid einander in brüderlicher Liebe zugetan, übertrefft euch in gegenseitiger Achtung!
not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
Lasst nicht nach in eurem Eifer, lasst euch vom Geist entflammen und dient dem Herrn!
rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,
Freut euch in der Hoffnung, seid geduldig in der Bedrängnis, beharrlich im Gebet!
contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.
Nehmt Anteil an den Nöten der Heiligen; gewährt jederzeit Gastfreundschaft!
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Segnet eure Verfolger; segnet sie, verflucht sie nicht!
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
Freut euch mit den Fröhlichen und weint mit den Weinenden!
Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
Seid untereinander eines Sinnes; strebt nicht hoch hinaus, sondern bleibt demütig! Haltet euch nicht selbst für klug!
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.
Vergeltet niemandem Böses mit Bösem! Seid allen Menschen gegenüber auf Gutes bedacht!
If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.
Soweit es euch möglich ist, haltet mit allen Menschen Frieden!
Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.
Übt nicht selbst Vergeltung, Geliebte, sondern lasst Raum für das Zorngericht Gottes; denn es steht geschrieben: Mein ist die Vergeltung, ich werde vergelten, spricht der Herr.
“BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.”
Vielmehr: Wenn dein Feind Hunger hat, gib ihm zu essen, wenn er Durst hat, gib ihm zu trinken; tust du das, dann sammelst du glühende Kohlen auf sein Haupt.
