»Du Mensch, höre, was ich, der HERR, zum Land Israel sage: Das Ende kommt, es kommt für das ganze Land!

Israel, jetzt ist es aus und vorbei mit dir, ich lasse meinen Zorn gegen dich wüten und ziehe dich zur Rechenschaft. Jede deiner Sünden werde ich dir vergelten.

Keine Träne werde ich um dich vergießen, kein Mitleid mit dir haben! Was du gesät hast, erntest du — ja, deine abscheulichen Taten hinterlassen ihre Spuren. Daran sollst du erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
Ein Unglück jagt das andere, das Ende ist gekommen! Ja, euer Ende ist da, niemand kann es mehr aufhalten. Darauf gebe ich, Gott, der HERR, mein Wort.

Keine Träne werde ich um euch vergießen, kein Mitleid mit euch haben! Was ihr gesät habt, erntet ihr — ja, eure abscheulichen Taten hinterlassen ihre Spuren. Daran sollt ihr erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, Gericht halte.

Passt auf, bald ist es so weit! Der Tag steht kurz bevor! Noch blühen Hochmut und Gewalt,
die Menschen stützen sich auf ihre Verbrechen und entfernen sich immer weiter von mir. Doch von ihnen wird nichts übrig bleiben — nichts von ihrem Reichtum, nichts von ihrer Pracht und von ihrem Ruhm.

Die Zeit ist gekommen, der Tag des Gerichts ist da! Wer jetzt noch etwas kauft, soll sich gar nicht erst darüber freuen! Wer etwas verkaufen muss, braucht nicht traurig zu sein. Er wird sein Hab und Gut sowieso nicht wiederbekommen, selbst wenn er am Leben bleibt. Denn mein glühender Zorn trifft das ganze Volk, keiner kann meine Strafe aufhalten. Weil alle schuldig sind, wird niemand sein Leben retten können.

In den Straßen wird das Schwert unter ihnen wüten, und in den Häusern werden sie durch Hunger und Seuchen umkommen. Wer auf dem Feld ist, wird von den Feinden niedergestochen, und wer sich in der Stadt aufhält, den raffen Hunger und Seuchen hinweg.

Silber und Gold werfen sie voller Ekel hinaus auf die Straßen, als wäre es Abfall. Denn ihre Schätze können ihnen nicht helfen an dem Tag, an dem mein Zorn gegen sie losbricht. Ihren Hunger können sie damit nicht mehr stillen und ihren Bauch nicht mit ihnen füllen. Im Gegenteil: Gold und Silber haben sie erst dazu verleitet, sich gegen mich aufzulehnen!

Sie waren stolz auf ihren kostbaren Schmuck und fertigten daraus ihre abscheulichen Götterfiguren. Darum habe ich dafür gesorgt, dass ihr Gold sie nun anwidert und sie es wegwerfen wie Müll.
