Als Abram neunundneunzig Jahre alt war, erschien der HERR dem Abram und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin El-Schaddai. Geh vor mir und sei untadelig!
And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
Ich will meinen Bund stiften zwischen mir und dir und ich werde dich über alle Maßen mehren.
Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:
Abram fiel nieder auf sein Angesicht. Und Gott redete mit ihm und sprach:
Ich bin es. Siehe, das ist mein Bund mit dir: Du wirst Stammvater einer Menge von Völkern.
Man wird dich nicht mehr Abram nennen. Abraham, Vater der Menge, wird dein Name sein; denn zum Stammvater einer Menge von Völkern habe ich dich bestimmt.
I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
Ich mache dich über alle Maßen fruchtbar und lasse dich zu Völkern werden; Könige werden von dir abstammen.
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.
Ich richte meinen Bund auf zwischen mir und dir und mit deinen Nachkommen nach dir, Generation um Generation, einen ewigen Bund: Für dich und deine Nachkommen nach dir werde ich Gott sein.
Dir und deinen Nachkommen nach dir gebe ich das Land, in dem du als Fremder weilst, das ganze Land Kanaan zum ewigen Besitz und ich werde für sie Gott sein.
And God said to Abraham: “As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.
Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: Du aber sollst meinen Bund bewahren, du und deine Nachkommen nach dir, Generation um Generation.
This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised;
Dies ist mein Bund zwischen mir und euch und deinen Nachkommen nach dir, den ihr bewahren sollt: Alles, was männlich ist, muss bei euch beschnitten werden.
and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
Am Fleisch eurer Vorhaut müsst ihr euch beschneiden lassen. Das soll geschehen zum Zeichen des Bundes zwischen mir und euch.
He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.
Alle männlichen Kinder bei euch müssen, sobald sie acht Tage alt sind, beschnitten werden in jeder eurer Generationen, seien sie im Haus geboren oder um Geld erworben von irgendeinem Fremden, der nicht von dir abstammt.
He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Beschnitten werden muss der in deinem Haus Geborene und der um Geld Erworbene. So soll mein Bund, dessen Zeichen ihr an eurem Fleisch tragt, ein ewiger Bund sein.
And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”
Ein Unbeschnittener, eine männliche Person, die am Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut nicht beschnitten ist, soll aus ihrem Stammesverband ausgemerzt werden. Er hat meinen Bund gebrochen.
Weiter sprach Gott zu Abraham: Du sollst deine Frau nicht mehr Sarai nennen: Sara, Herrin, soll ihr Name sein.
And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”
Ich will sie segnen und dir auch von ihr einen Sohn geben. Ich segne sie: Völker gehen von ihr aus; Könige von Völkern werden ihr entstammen.
Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”
Da fiel Abraham auf sein Angesicht nieder und lachte. Er sprach in seinem Herzen: Können einem Hundertjährigen noch Kinder geboren werden und kann Sara als Neunzigjährige noch gebären?
And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!”
Dann sagte Abraham zu Gott: Wenn nur Ismael vor dir am Leben bleibt!
Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.
Gott entgegnete: Nein, deine Frau Sara wird dir einen Sohn gebären und du sollst ihm den Namen Isaak geben. Ich werde meinen Bund mit ihm aufrichten als einen ewigen Bund für seine Nachkommen nach ihm.
And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.
Auch was Ismael angeht, erhöre ich dich: Siehe, ich segne ihn, ich mache ihn fruchtbar und mehre ihn über alle Maßen. Zwölf Fürsten wird er zeugen und ich mache ihn zu einem großen Volk.
But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.”
Meinen Bund aber richte ich mit Isaak auf, den dir Sara im nächsten Jahr um diese Zeit gebären wird.
Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
Als er aufgehört hatte, mit ihm zu reden, fuhr Gott zur Höhe empor.
So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him.
Abraham nahm nun seinen Sohn Ismael sowie alle in seinem Haus Geborenen und alle um Geld Erworbenen, alle männlichen Personen vom Haus Abraham, und beschnitt das Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut noch am selben Tag, wie Gott ihm gesagt hatte.
Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Abraham war neunundneunzig Jahre alt, als er am Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitten wurde,
And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
und sein Sohn Ismael war dreizehn Jahre alt, als er am Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitten wurde.
That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael;
Am selben Tag wurden Abraham und sein Sohn Ismael beschnitten.
