    The Destruction of Israel

    I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said:
    “Strike the [a]doorposts, that the thresholds may shake,
    And break them on the heads of them all.
    I will slay the last of them with the sword.
    He who flees from them shall not get away,
    And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered.

    Ich sah den Herrn auf dem Altar stehen. Er sagte: Zerschlag den Knauf der Säule, sodass die Schwellen erbeben, und zerschmettere allen den Kopf! Was dann von ihnen noch übrig ist, töte ich mit dem Schwert. Keiner von ihnen kann entfliehen, keiner entrinnt, keiner entkommt.

    “Though they dig into [b]hell,
    From there My hand shall take them;
    Though they climb up to heaven,
    From there I will bring them down;

    Wenn sie in die Totenwelt einbrechen: meine Hand packt sie auch dort. Und wenn sie zum Himmel aufsteigen: ich hole sie von dort herunter.

    And though they hide themselves on top of Carmel,
    From there I will search and take them;
    Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea,
    From there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them;

    Wenn sie sich auf dem Gipfel des Karmel verstecken: ich spüre sie dort auf und ergreife sie. Wenn sie sich vor mir auf dem Grund des Meeres verbergen, dann gebiete ich dort der Seeschlange, sie zu beißen.

    Though they go into captivity before their enemies,
    From there I will command the sword,
    And it shall slay them.
    I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good.”

    Und wenn sie vor ihren Feinden her in die Gefangenschaft ziehen, dann befehle ich dort dem Schwert, sie zu töten. Ich habe meine Augen auf sie gerichtet zum Bösen und nicht zum Guten.

    The Lord God of hosts,
    He who touches the earth and it melts,
    And all who dwell there mourn;
    All of it shall swell like [c]the River,
    And subside like the River of Egypt.

    Und der HERR, der GOTT der Heerscharen, er berührt die Erde, sodass sie vergeht und alle trauern, die auf ihr wohnen, sodass sie sich hebt wie der Nil und sich senkt wie der Strom von Ägypten.

    He who builds His layers[d] in the sky,
    And has founded His strata in the earth;
    Who calls for the waters of the sea,
    And pours them out on the face of the earth —
    The Lord is His name.

    Er erbaut seine Hallen im Himmel und gründet sein Gewölbe auf die Erde; er ruft das Wasser des Meeres und gießt es aus über die Erde — HERR ist sein Name.

    “Are you not like the [e]people of Ethiopia to Me,
    O children of Israel?” says the Lord.
    “Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt,
    The Philistines from Caphtor,[f]
    And the Syrians from Kir?

    Seid ihr nicht wie die Kuschiten für mich, ihr Israeliten? — Spruch des HERRN. Habe ich Israel nicht heraufgeführt aus dem Land Ägypten und ebenso die Philister aus Kaftor und Aram aus Kir?

    “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,
    And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;
    Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”
    Says the Lord.

    Siehe, die Augen GOTTES, des Herrn, sind auf das sündige Königreich gerichtet. Ich lasse es vom Erdboden verschwinden; doch ich werde das Haus Jakob nicht völlig vernichten — Spruch des HERRN.

    “For surely I will command,
    And will [g]sift the house of Israel among all nations,
    As grain is sifted in a sieve;
    Yet not the smallest [h]grain shall fall to the ground.

    Ja, seht, ich selbst gebe den Befehl, ich schüttle das Haus Israel unter alle Völker, wie man Korn in einem Sieb schüttelt, ohne dass ein Stein zu Boden fällt.

    All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword,
    Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’

    Alle Sünder meines Volkes sollen durch das Schwert umkommen, alle, die sagen: Das Unheil erreicht uns nicht, es holt uns nicht ein.

    Israel Will Be Restored

    “On that day I will raise up
    The [i]tabernacle of David, which has fallen down,
    And [j]repair its damages;
    I will raise up its ruins,
    And rebuild it as in the days of old;

    An jenem Tag richte ich die zerfallene Hütte Davids wieder auf und bessere ihre Risse aus, ich richte ihre Trümmer auf und stelle alles wieder her wie in den Tagen der Vorzeit,

    That they may possess the remnant of Edom,[k]
    And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,”
    Says the Lord who does this thing.

    damit sie den Rest von Edom unterwerfen und alle Völker, über denen mein Name ausgerufen ist — Spruch des HERRN, der das ausführt.

    “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
    “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
    And the treader of grapes him who sows seed;
    The mountains shall drip with sweet wine,
    And all the hills shall flow with it.

    Seht, es kommen Tage — Spruch des HERRN — , da folgt der Pflüger dem Schnitter auf dem Fuß und der Keltertreter dem Sämann; da triefen die Berge von Wein und alle Hügel fließen über.

    I will bring back the captives of My people Israel;
    They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them;
    They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them;
    They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

    Dann wende ich das Geschick meines Volkes Israel. Sie bauen die verwüsteten Städte wieder auf und wohnen darin; sie pflanzen Weinberge und trinken den Wein, sie legen Gärten an und essen die Früchte.

    I will plant them in their land,
    And no longer shall they be pulled up
    From the land I have given them,”
    Says the Lord your God.

    Und ich pflanze sie ein in ihren Boden und nie mehr werden sie ausgerissen aus ihrem Boden, den ich ihnen gegeben habe, spricht der HERR, dein Gott.
