This message from the LORD was delivered to King Baasha by the prophet Jehu son of Hanani:
Es kam aber das Wort des HERRN zu Jehu, dem Sohn Hananis, wider Baesa und sprach:
“I lifted you out of the dust to make you ruler of my people Israel, but you have followed the evil example of Jeroboam. You have provoked my anger by causing my people Israel to sin.
Darum daß ich dich aus dem Staub erhoben habe und zum Fürsten gemacht habe über mein Volk Israel und du wandelst in dem Wege Jerobeams und machst mein Volk Israel sündigen, daß du mich erzürnst durch ihre Sünden,
So now I will destroy you and your family, just as I destroyed the descendants of Jeroboam son of Nebat.
siehe, so will ich die Nachkommen Baesas und die Nachkommen seines Hauses wegnehmen und will dein Haus machen wie das Haus Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats.
The members of Baasha’s family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by vultures.”
Wer von Baesa stirbt in der Stadt, den sollen die Hunde fressen; und wer von ihm stirbt auf dem Felde, den sollen die Vögel des Himmels fressen.

When Baasha died, he was buried in Tirzah. Then his son Elah became the next king.
Und Baesa entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben zu Thirza. Und sein Sohn Ela ward König an seiner Statt.
The message from the LORD against Baasha and his family came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani. It was delivered because Baasha had done what was evil in the LORD’s sight (just as the family of Jeroboam had done), and also because Baasha had destroyed the family of Jeroboam. The LORD’s anger was provoked by Baasha’s sins.
Auch kam das Wort des HERRN durch den Propheten Jehu, den Sohn Hananis, über Baesa und über sein Haus und wider alles Übel, das er tat vor dem HERRN, ihn zu erzürnen durch die Werke seiner Hände, daß es würde wie das Haus Jerobeam, und darum daß er dieses geschlagen hatte.
Elah Rules in Israel
Elah son of Baasha began to rule over Israel in the twenty-sixth year of King Asa’s reign in Judah. He reigned in the city of Tirzah for two years.
Im 26. Jahr Asas, des Königs Juda’s, ward Ela, der Sohn Baesas, König über Israel zu Thirza zwei Jahre.
Then Zimri, who commanded half of the royal chariots, made plans to kill him. One day in Tirzah, Elah was getting drunk at the home of Arza, the supervisor of the palace.
Aber sein Knecht Simri, der Oberste über die Hälfte der Wagen, machte einen Bund wider ihn. Er aber war zu Thirza, trank und war trunken im Hause Arzas, des Vogts zu Thirza.
Zimri walked in and struck him down and killed him. This happened in the twenty-seventh year of King Asa’s reign in Judah. Then Zimri became the next king.
Und Simri kam hinein und schlug ihn tot im 27. Jahr Asas, des Königs Juda’s, und ward König an seiner Statt.
Zimri immediately killed the entire royal family of Baasha, leaving him not even a single male child. He even destroyed distant relatives and friends.
Und da er König war und auf seinem Stuhl saß, schlug er das ganze Haus Baesas, und ließ nichts übrig, was männlich war, dazu seine Erben und seine Freunde.
So Zimri destroyed the dynasty of Baasha as the LORD had promised through the prophet Jehu.
Also vertilgte Simri das ganze Haus Baesa nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er über Baesa geredet hatte durch den Propheten Jehu,
This happened because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed, and because of the sins they led Israel to commit. They provoked the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, with their worthless idols.
um aller Sünden willen Baesas und seines Sohnes Ela, die sie taten und durch die sie Israel sündigen machten, den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zu erzürnen durch ihre Abgötterei.

Zimri Rules in Israel
Zimri began to rule over Israel in the twenty-seventh year of King Asa’s reign in Judah, but his reign in Tirzah lasted only seven days. The army of Israel was then attacking the Philistine town of Gibbethon.
Im 27. Jahr Asas, des Königs Juda’s, ward Simri König sieben Tage zu Thirza. Und das Volk lag vor Gibbethon der Philister.
When they heard that Zimri had committed treason and had assassinated the king, that very day they chose Omri, commander of the army, as the new king of Israel.
Da aber das Volk im Lager hörte sagen, daß Simri einen Bund gemacht und auch den König erschlagen hätte, da machte ganz Israel desselben Tages Omri, den Feldhauptmann, zum König über Israel im Lager.
So Omri led the entire army of Israel up from Gibbethon to attack Tirzah, Israel’s capital.
Und Omri zog herauf und das ganze Israel mit ihm von Gibbethon und belagerten Thirza.
When Zimri saw that the city had been taken, he went into the citadel of the palace and burned it down over himself and died in the flames.
Da aber Simri sah, daß die Stadt würde gewonnen werden, ging er in den Palast im Hause des Königs und verbrannte sich mit dem Hause des Königs und starb
For he, too, had done what was evil in the LORD’s sight. He followed the example of Jeroboam in all the sins he had committed and led Israel to commit.
um seiner Sünden willen, die er getan hatte, daß er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und wandelte in dem Wege Jerobeams und seiner Sünde, die er tat, daß er Israel sündigen machte.

Omri Rules in Israel
But now the people of Israel were split into two factions. Half the people tried to make Tibni son of Ginath their king, while the other half supported Omri.
Dazumal teilte sich das Volk Israel in zwei Teile. Eine Hälfte hing an Thibni, dem Sohn Ginaths, daß sie ihn zum König machten; die andere Hälfte aber hing an Omri.
But Omri’s supporters defeated the supporters of Tibni. So Tibni was killed, and Omri became the next king.
Aber das Volk, das an Omri hing, ward stärker denn das Volk, das an Thibni hing, dem Sohn Ginaths. Und Thibni starb; da ward Omri König.
Omri began to rule over Israel in the thirty-first year of King Asa’s reign in Judah. He reigned twelve years in all, six of them in Tirzah.
Im 31. Jahr Asas, des Königs Juda’s, ward Omri König über Israel zwölf Jahre, und regierte zu Thirza sechs Jahre.
Er kaufte den Berg Samaria von Semer um zwei Zentner Silber und baute auf den Berg und hieß die Stadt, die er baute, nach dem Namen Semers, des Berges Herrn, Samaria.
But Omri did what was evil in the LORD’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.
Und Omri tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel und war ärger denn alle, die vor ihm gewesen waren,
He followed the example of Jeroboam son of Nebat in all the sins he had committed and led Israel to commit. The people provoked the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, with their worthless idols.
und wandelte in allen Wegen Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und in seinen Sünden, durch die er Israel sündigen machte, daß sie den HERRN, den Gott Israels, erzürnten in ihrer Abgötterei.

When Omri died, he was buried in Samaria. Then his son Ahab became the next king.
Und Omri entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben zu Samaria. Und Ahab, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
Ahab Rules in Israel
Ahab son of Omri began to rule over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of King Asa’s reign in Judah. He reigned in Samaria twenty-two years.
Im 38. Jahr Asas, des Königs Juda’s, ward Ahab, der Sohn Omris, König über Israel, und regierte über Israel zu Samaria 22 Jahre
But Ahab son of Omri did what was evil in the LORD’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.
und tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, über alle, die vor ihm gewesen waren.
And as though it were not enough to follow the sinful example of Jeroboam, he married Jezebel, the daughter of King Ethbaal of the Sidonians, and he began to bow down in worship of Baal.
Und es war ihm ein Geringes, daß er wandelte in der Sünde Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und nahm dazu Isebel, die Tochter Ethbaals, des Königs zu Sidon, zum Weibe und ging hin und diente Baal und betete ihn an
First Ahab built a temple and an altar for Baal in Samaria.
und richtete Baal einen Altar auf im Hause Baals, das er ihm baute zu Samaria,
Then he set up an Asherah pole. He did more to provoke the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, than any of the other kings of Israel before him.
und machte ein Ascherabild; daß Ahab mehr tat, den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zu erzürnen, denn alle Könige Israels, die vor ihm gewesen waren.
It was during his reign that Hiel, a man from Bethel, rebuilt Jericho. When he laid its foundations, it cost him the life of his oldest son, Abiram. And when he completed it and set up its gates, it cost him the life of his youngest son, Segub.b This all happened according to the message from the LORD concerning Jericho spoken by Joshua son of Nun.
Zur selben Zeit baute Hiel von Beth–El Jericho. Es kostete ihn seinen ersten Sohn, Abiram, da er den Grund legte, und den jüngsten Sohn, Segub, da er die Türen setzte, nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er geredet hatte durch Josua, den Sohn Nuns.
