“If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.

Doch ist darüber bereits die Sonne aufgegangen, dann entsteht Blutschuld. Ein Dieb muss Ersatz leisten. Besitzt er nichts, soll man ihn für den Wert des Gestohlenen verkaufen.
“If the thief is caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account.
Findet man das Gestohlene, sei es Rind, Esel oder Schaf, noch lebend in seinem Besitz, dann soll er doppelten Ersatz leisten.
“But if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. He shall surely make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
Wenn jemand ein Feld oder einen Weinberg abweiden lässt und lässt sein Vieh frei laufen, sodass es das Feld eines anderen abweidet, dann soll er den besten Ertrag seines Feldes oder Weinbergs als Ersatz dafür geben.
“If what he stole is actually found alive in his possession, whether an ox or a donkey or a sheep, he shall pay double.
Breitet sich das Feuer aus, erfasst es eine Dornenhecke und vernichtet einen Getreidehaufen, auf dem Halm stehendes Getreide oder ein Feld, dann soll der für den Brand Verantwortliche den Schaden ersetzen.
“If a man lets a field or vineyard be grazed bare and lets his animal loose so that it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field and the best of his own vineyard.
Übergibt jemand einem andern Geld oder Gerät zur Aufbewahrung und es wird aus dessen Haus gestohlen, dann soll der Dieb, wenn man ihn findet, doppelten Ersatz leisten.
“If a fire breaks out and spreads to thorn bushes, so that stacked grain or the standing grain or the field itself is consumed, he who started the fire shall surely make restitution.
Findet man den Dieb nicht, soll der Hausherr vor Gott erklären, dass er sich nicht selbst am Eigentum des andern vergriffen hat.
“If a man gives his neighbor money or goods to keep for him and it is stolen from the man’s house, if the thief is caught, he shall pay double.
Wenn jemandem etwas veruntreut wurde, ein Rind, ein Esel, ein Schaf, ein Kleid oder sonst etwas, und er behauptet: Ja, das ist es, dann soll der Streitfall der beiden vor Gott kommen. Wen Gott als schuldig bezeichnet, soll dem andern doppelten Ersatz leisten.
“If the thief is not caught, then the owner of the house shall appear before the judges, to determine whether he laid his hands on his neighbor’s property.
Wenn jemand einem andern einen Esel, ein Rind, ein Schaf oder sonst ein Haustier zur Verwahrung übergibt und das Tier eingeht, sich etwas bricht oder fortgetrieben wird, ohne dass es jemand sieht,
“For every breach of trust, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any lost thing about which one says, ‘This is it,’ the case of both parties shall come before the judges; he whom the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.
dann soll ein Eid beim HERRN Klarheit darüber schaffen, dass der eine sich nicht am Eigentum des andern vergriffen hat. Der Eigentümer soll an sich nehmen, was noch da ist, ohne dass der andere Ersatz zu leisten hätte.
“If a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep for him, and it dies or is hurt or is driven away while no one is looking,
Ist es ihm aber gestohlen worden, muss er dem Eigentümer Ersatz leisten.
an oath before the LORD shall be made by the two of them that he has not laid hands on his neighbor’s property; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.
Ist das Tier gerissen worden, bringe er es zum Beweis herbei; dann braucht er für das Gerissene keinen Ersatz zu leisten.
“But if it is actually stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner.
Leiht jemand von einem andern ein Tier und bricht es sich etwas oder geht ein, und zwar in Abwesenheit des Eigentümers, so muss er Ersatz leisten.
“If it is all torn to pieces, let him bring it as evidence; he shall not make restitution for what has been torn to pieces.
War der Eigentümer aber anwesend, so braucht der andere keinen Ersatz zu leisten. Ist er Taglöhner, so geht es von seinem Lohn ab.
“If a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall make full restitution.
Wenn jemand ein noch nicht verlobtes Mädchen verführt und bei ihm schläft, dann soll er das Brautgeld zahlen und sie zur Frau nehmen.
“If its owner is with it, he shall not make restitution; if it is hired, it came for its hire.
Weigert sich aber ihr Vater, sie ihm zu geben, dann hat er ihm so viel zu zahlen, wie der Brautpreis für eine Jungfrau beträgt.

“If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged, and lies with her, he must pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
Eine Zauberin sollst du nicht am Leben lassen.
“If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the dowry for virgins.
Jeder, der mit einem Tier verkehrt, hat den Tod verdient.
“You shall not allow a sorceress to live.
Wer einer Gottheit außer dem HERRN Schlachtopfer darbringt, soll dem Bann verfallen.
“Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.
Einen Fremden sollst du nicht ausnützen oder ausbeuten, denn ihr selbst seid im Land Ägypten Fremde gewesen.
“He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the LORD alone, shall be utterly destroyed.
Ihr sollt keine Witwe oder Waise ausnützen.
“You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Wenn du sie ausnützt und sie zu mir schreit, werde ich auf ihren Klageschrei hören.
“You shall not afflict any widow or orphan.
Mein Zorn wird entbrennen und ich werde euch mit dem Schwert umbringen, sodass eure Frauen zu Witwen und eure Söhne zu Waisen werden.
“If you afflict him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will surely hear his cry;
Leihst du einem aus meinem Volk, einem Armen, der neben dir wohnt, Geld, dann sollst du dich gegen ihn nicht wie ein Gläubiger benehmen. Ihr sollt von ihm keinen Zins fordern.
and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
Nimmst du von einem Mitbürger den Mantel zum Pfand, dann sollst du ihn bis Sonnenuntergang zurückgeben;
“If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest.
denn es ist seine einzige Decke, der Mantel, mit dem er seinen bloßen Leib bedeckt. Worin soll er sonst schlafen? Wenn er zu mir schreit, höre ich es, denn ich habe Mitleid.
“If you ever take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, you are to return it to him before the sun sets,
Du sollst Gott nicht verächtlich machen und den Fürsten deines Volkes nicht verfluchen.
for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his body. What else shall he sleep in? And it shall come about that when he cries out to Me, I will hear him, for I am gracious.
Deinen Reichtum und Überfluss sollst du nicht für dich behalten. Den Erstgeborenen unter deinen Söhnen sollst du mir geben.
“You shall not curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
Ebenso sollst du es mit deinen Rindern, Schafen und Ziegen halten. Sieben Tage sollen sie bei ihrer Mutter bleiben, am achten Tag sollst du sie mir übergeben.
“You shall not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to Me.
Als heilige Männer sollt ihr mir gehören. Fleisch von einem Tier, das auf dem Feld gerissen wurde, sollt ihr nicht essen; ihr sollt es den Hunden vorwerfen.
“You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me.
