Siehe, hiermit nehme ich die Leviten aus der Mitte der Israeliten als Ersatz für alle Erstgeborenen, die den Mutterschoß durchbrechen. Die Leviten gehören mir;

Siehe, ich habe die Leviten genommen unter den Kindern Israel für alle Erstgeburt, welche die Mutter bricht, unter den Kindern Israel, also daß die Leviten sollen mein sein.

»Du siehst, ich habe von allen Stämmen die Leviten ausgesucht. Ich nehme sie anstelle eurer ältesten Söhne, damit sie ganz für mich da sind.
