wenn der HERR, dein Gott, sie dir ausliefert und du sie schlägst, dann sollst du an ihnen den Bann vollziehen. Du sollst keinen Vertrag mit ihnen schließen, sie nicht verschonen
and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them.
und dich nicht mit ihnen verschwägern. Deine Tochter gib nicht seinem Sohn und nimm seine Tochter nicht für deinen Sohn!
“Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.
Wenn er dein Kind verleitet, mir nicht mehr nachzufolgen, und sie dann anderen Göttern dienen, wird der Zorn des HERRN gegen euch entbrennen und wird dich unverzüglich vernichten.
“For they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you and He will quickly destroy you.
So sollt ihr gegen sie vorgehen: Ihr sollt ihre Altäre niederreißen, ihre Steinmale zerschlagen, ihre Kultpfähle umhauen und ihre Götterbilder im Feuer verbrennen.
“But thus you shall do to them: you shall tear down their altars, and smash their sacred pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.
Denn du bist ein Volk, das dem HERRN, deinem Gott, heilig ist. Dich hat der HERR, dein Gott, ausgewählt, damit du unter allen Völkern, die auf der Erde leben, das Volk wirst, das ihm persönlich gehört.
“For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Nicht weil ihr zahlreicher als die anderen Völker wäret, hat euch der HERR ins Herz geschlossen und ausgewählt; ihr seid das kleinste unter allen Völkern.
“The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples,
Weil der HERR euch liebt und weil er auf den Schwur achtet, den er euren Vätern geleistet hat, deshalb hat der HERR euch mit starker Hand herausgeführt und dich aus dem Sklavenhaus freigekauft, aus der Hand des Pharao, des Königs von Ägypten.
but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Daran sollst du erkennen: Der HERR, dein Gott, ist der Gott; er ist der treue Gott; noch nach tausend Generationen bewahrt er den Bund und erweist denen seine Huld, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote bewahren.
“Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
Denen aber, die ihn hassen, vergilt er ins Angesicht und tilgt einen jeden aus; er zögert nicht, wenn er ihn hasst, sondern vergilt ihm ins Angesicht.
but repays those who hate Him to their faces, to destroy them; He will not delay with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face.
Deshalb sollst du das Gebot bewahren und die Gesetze und die Rechtsentscheide, auf die ich dich heute verpflichte, und du sollst sie halten.
“Therefore, you shall keep the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which I am commanding you today, to do them.
Wenn ihr diese Rechtsentscheide hört, sie bewahrt und sie haltet, wird der HERR, dein Gott, dir dafür den Bund und die Huld bewahren, die er deinen Vätern geschworen hat.
Promises of God
“Then it shall come about, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you His covenant and His lovingkindness which He swore to your forefathers.
Er wird dich lieben, dich segnen und dich zahlreich machen. Er wird die Frucht deines Leibes und die Frucht deines Ackers segnen, dein Korn, deinen Wein und dein Öl, den Wurf deiner Rinder und den Zuwachs an Lämmern und Zicklein, in dem Land, von dem du weißt: Er hat deinen Vätern geschworen, es dir zu geben.
“He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock, in the land which He swore to your forefathers to give you.
Du wirst mehr als die anderen Völker gesegnet sein. Weder Mann noch Frau noch Vieh, nichts wird bei dir unfruchtbar sein.
“You shall be blessed above all peoples; there will be no male or female barren among you or among your cattle.
Alle Krankheiten wird der HERR von dir ablenken. Keine der schweren ägyptischen Seuchen, die du kennst, wird er dir auferlegen, sondern über alle deine Feinde wird er sie bringen.
“The LORD will remove from you all sickness; and He will not put on you any of the harmful diseases of Egypt which you have known, but He will lay them on all who hate you.
Du wirst alle Völker verzehren, die der HERR, dein Gott, für dich bestimmt. Du sollst in dir kein Mitleid mit ihnen aufsteigen lassen. Und du sollst ihren Göttern nicht dienen; denn dann liefest du in eine Falle.
“You shall consume all the peoples whom the LORD your God will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.
Wenn du überlegst: Diese Völker sind größer als ich — wie sollte ich sie ausrotten können?,
“If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’
dann sollst du vor ihnen keine Furcht haben. Du sollst an das denken, was der HERR, dein Gott, mit dem Pharao und mit ganz Ägypten gemacht hat:
you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt:
an die schweren Prüfungen, die du mit eigenen Augen gesehen hast, an die Zeichen und Wunder, an die starke Hand und den hoch erhobenen Arm, mit denen der HERR, dein Gott, dich herausgeführt hat. So wird es der HERR, dein Gott, mit allen Völkern machen, vor denen du Furcht hast.
the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God brought you out. So shall the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.
Außerdem wird der HERR, dein Gott, Panik unter ihnen ausbrechen lassen, so lange, bis auch die ausgetilgt sind, die überleben konnten und sich vor dir versteckt haben.
“Moreover, the LORD your God will send the hornet against them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you perish.
Du sollst nicht erschreckt zurückweichen, wenn sie angreifen; denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist als großer und Furcht erregender Gott in deiner Mitte.
“You shall not dread them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God.
Doch der HERR, dein Gott, wird diese Völker dir nur nach und nach aus dem Weg räumen. Du kannst sie nicht rasch ausmerzen, weil sonst die wilden Tiere überhandnehmen und dir schaden.
“The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you.
Doch wird der HERR, dein Gott, dir diese Völker ausliefern. Er wird sie in ausweglose Verwirrung stürzen, bis sie vernichtet sind.
“But the LORD your God will deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.
Er wird ihre Könige in deine Hand geben. Du wirst ihren Namen unter dem Himmel austilgen. Keiner wird deinem Angriff standhalten können, bis du sie schließlich vernichtet hast.
“He will deliver their kings into your hand so that you will make their name perish from under heaven; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.
Ihre Götterbilder sollt ihr im Feuer verbrennen. Du sollst nicht das Silber oder Gold haben wollen, mit dem sie überzogen sind. Du sollst es nicht an dich nehmen, damit du dabei nicht in eine Falle läufst. Denn es ist dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein Gräuel.
“The graven images of their gods you are to burn with fire; you shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, or you will be snared by it, for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.
Du sollst aber keinen Gräuel in dein Haus bringen, damit du nicht selbst wie er dem Bann verfällst. Du sollst Grauen und Abscheu vor ihm haben, denn er ist dem Bann verfallen.
“You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and like it come under the ban; you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is something banned.
