Ich empfing eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er fragte mich:
The Sins of Jerusalem
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Bist du bereit, Mensch, über die Stadt voller Bluttaten das Urteil zu sprechen? Dann tu es! Halte ihr all die abscheulichen Verbrechen vor Augen
Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations.
und sag: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Jerusalem, dein Untergang ist nahe, du selbst hast ihn verschuldet! Mitten in der Stadt ist das Blut unschuldiger Menschen geflossen, du hast dir deine eigenen Götter geschaffen und sie angebetet.
Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.
Mit deinen blutigen Verbrechen und deinem Götzendienst hast du dich unrein gemacht. Du hast das Gericht selbst herbeigeführt — dein Ende ist nahe! Ich sorge dafür, dass du von allen Völkern verachtet wirst, ich gebe dich dem Spott der anderen Länder preis.
Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.
Jeder, ob nah oder fern, verhöhnt dich, dein ehemals hochangesehener Name ist beschmutzt, deine Bestürzung ist groß.
Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.
Sieh doch, wie alle deine Herrscher ihre Macht dazu benutzen, Blut zu vergießen!
Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.
Deine Einwohner verachten Vater und Mutter. Sie beuten die Fremden aus, die bei ihnen leben, und unterdrücken die schutzlosen Witwen und Waisen.
In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.
Alles, was mir heilig ist, wird in den Schmutz gezogen, und auch den Sabbat achtet ihr nicht als heiligen Tag.
Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.
Ihr verleumdet andere, damit sie zum Tode verurteilt werden. Auf den Bergen haltet ihr Opfermahlzeiten für eure Götter. Schlimme Schandtaten werden bei euch verübt:
In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.
Der eine schläft mit der Frau seines Vaters, ein anderer verkehrt mit einer Frau, während sie ihre Tage hat.
In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.
Man scheut sich nicht, mit der Frau eines anderen die Ehe zu brechen; man vergeht sich an seiner Schwiegertochter und macht sich nichts daraus, die eigene Halbschwester zu missbrauchen.
And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.
Ihr nehmt Bestechungsgelder an und schickt dafür Unschuldige in den Tod. Ihr fordert Wucherzinsen und erpresst andere Menschen. Mich aber, Gott, den HERRN, habt ihr vergessen!
In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.
Jerusalem, du wirst schon sehen, was du davon hast! Denn jetzt schlage ich voller Zorn die Hände zusammen, ich strafe dich für den Mord und Betrug, den man in dir verübt.
Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.
Meinst du wirklich, du könntest mir standhalten? Bildest du dir ein, du würdest nicht den Mut verlieren, wenn ich mit dir abrechne? Ich, der HERR, habe gesagt, dass ich dich richten werde, und ich stehe zu meinem Wort!
Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.
Deine Einwohner zerstreue ich unter die Völker, ich bringe sie in fremde Länder, um so ihrem gottlosen Treiben ein Ende zu setzen!
And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.
Vor aller Welt wirst du entehrt dastehen, und das hast du dir selbst zuzuschreiben. Dann sollst du erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.«
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN:
The Refining Furnace
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Du Mensch, in meinen Augen sind die Israeliten zu wertlosem Abfall geworden, wie er übrig bleibt, wenn Silber im Schmelztiegel gereinigt wird. Sie sind nichts mehr als Schlacken aus Kupfer und Zinn, aus Eisen und Blei.
Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.
Ich, Gott, der HERR, sage ihnen: Ihr seid die Schlacke, die beim Schmelzen zurückbleibt. Darum mache ich mit euch das einzig Richtige: Ich sammle euch in Jerusalem
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
und werfe euch ins Feuer! So wie man einen Metallklumpen aus Silber, Kupfer, Eisen, Blei und Zinn in den glühenden Tiegel wirft, damit alles zusammen zerschmilzt, so sammle ich euch voller Zorn; ich werfe euch ins Feuer und bringe euch zum Schmelzen.
As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.
Ja, ich will euch sammeln und meinen Zorn an euch auslassen. Ihr sollt seine Glut zu spüren bekommen und darin zerschmelzen wie Silber im Ofen. Dann sollt ihr erkennen, dass ich, der HERR, euch im Zorn gestraft habe.«
Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Noch einmal sprach der HERR zu mir. Er befahl:
The Sins of Prophets, Priests, Princes
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Du Mensch, richte dem Volk Israel diese Botschaft aus: Ihr habt euer Land so unrein gemacht, dass ich aus lauter Zorn schon lange keinen Regen mehr fallen ließ.
Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
Denn eure führenden Männer sind wie brüllende, blutgierige Löwen. Sie fallen über die Menschen her, reißen Geld und Gut an sich und machen viele Frauen im Land zu Witwen.
There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
Die Priester legen mein Gesetz aus, wie es ihnen gerade passt. Was ich für heilig erklärt habe, das ziehen sie in den Schmutz. Sie machen keinen Unterschied zwischen dem, was mir geweiht ist und was nicht, und sie erklären dem Volk auch nicht, was als rein und was als unrein gilt. Es kümmert sie nicht einmal, wenn der Sabbat entweiht wird, den ich doch zu einem besonderen Ruhetag bestimmt habe. Ja, sie sind schuld daran, dass niemand mehr Ehrfurcht vor mir hat.
Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
Die Richter sind wie hungrige Wölfe. Sie vergießen Blut und richten aus Habgier Menschenleben zugrunde.
Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.
Und was sagen deine Propheten dazu? Sie beschönigen diese üblen Machenschaften, so wie ein Maler eine hässliche Wand mit weißer Farbe übertüncht. Sie reden von Visionen, die sie gar nicht gesehen haben, und verkünden nichts als Lügen! Sie sagen: ›So spricht Gott, der HERR!‹, obwohl ich ihnen gar keine Botschaft mitgeteilt habe.
And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.
Auch die einfachen Leute verstehen sich auf Raub und Erpressung. Sie beuten die Armen und Bedürftigen aus, unterdrücken die Fremden und bringen sie um ihr Recht.
The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
Im ganzen Volk suchte ich nach jemandem, der in die Bresche springen und die Mauer um das Land wieder aufbauen würde, damit ich es nicht zerstören muss. Doch ich fand niemanden.
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Darum lasse ich euch meinen Zorn spüren, er wird euch vernichten wie ein Feuer. Das habt ihr euch selbst zuzuschreiben — ihr bekommt, was ihr verdient. Darauf gebe ich, Gott, der HERR, mein Wort.«
Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
