Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
Prophecy against Mount Seir
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,
»Du Mensch, blick in die Richtung, wo das Bergland Seïr liegt, und kündige ihm mein Gericht an:
“Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it
So spricht Gott, der HERR: Jetzt bekommst du es mit mir zu tun, du Bergland der Edomiter! Drohend erhebe ich meine Hand, um dich zu einer menschenleeren Wüste zu machen, ja, zu einem Bild des Schreckens.
and say to it, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,
“Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir,
And I will stretch out My hand against you
And make you a desolation and a waste.
“Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir,
And I will stretch out My hand against you
And make you a desolation and a waste.
Deine Städte verwandle ich in Trümmerhaufen, du wirst vollkommen zerstört. Daran sollst du erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
“I will lay waste your cities
And you will become a desolation.
Then you will know that I am the LORD.
And you will become a desolation.
Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Stets waren deine Bewohner erbitterte Feinde der Israeliten; am Tag ihres Untergangs, als mein Strafgericht über sie hereinbrach, haben die Edomiter sie erbarmungslos dem Schwert ausgeliefert.
“Because you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end,
Darum schwöre ich, Gott, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe: Der Tod ist ihr Schicksal, sie können ihm nicht entrinnen! Weil sie nicht gezögert haben, Blut zu vergießen, wird nun auch ihr Blut vergossen!
therefore as I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will give you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you; since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you.
Und dich, Bergland Seïr, mache ich zu einer schrecklichen, trostlosen Wüste und lasse keinen am Leben, der sich dort regt.
“I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation and I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns.
Dann sind deine Berge mit Leichen übersät; auf den Hügeln, in den Tälern und in den Bächen liegen die Gefallenen.
“I will fill its mountains with its slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain by the sword will fall.
Ich verwüste dich für alle Zeiten, in deinen Städten wird kein Mensch mehr wohnen. Daran sollt ihr Edomiter erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
“I will make you an everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Ihr habt behauptet: ›Israel und Juda gehören uns, wir werden sie besitzen!‹ Doch ihr vergesst, dass es mein Land ist, in dem ich wohne!
“Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,’ although the LORD was there,
Darum schwöre ich, Gott, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe: Alles, was ihr in eurem grenzenlosen Hass und Neid den Israeliten angetan habt, wird nun euch selbst treffen! Voller Zorn habt ihr ihnen großen Schaden zugefügt. Darum werde ich mein Strafgericht über euch hereinbrechen lassen und mich so meinem Volk zu erkennen geben.
therefore as I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will deal with you according to your anger and according to your envy which you showed because of your hatred against them; so I will make Myself known among them when I judge you.
Ihr werdet schon noch merken, dass ich eure Spottreden über die Berge Israels genau gehört habe. Voller Hohn habt ihr gesagt: ›Israels Bergland ist verwüstet! Nun können wir es an uns reißen!‹
“Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard all your revilings which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel saying, ‘They are laid desolate; they are given to us for food.’
Mir ist nicht entgangen, wie ihr mich mit frechen und überheblichen Worten verhöhnt habt.
“And you have spoken arrogantly against Me and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard it.”
Darum sage ich, Gott, der HERR: Du Bergland Seïr, ich mache dich zu einer Wüste, und die ganze Welt wird sich darüber freuen.
‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “As all the earth rejoices, I will make you a desolation.
Wie groß war deine Schadenfreude, als das Land der Israeliten, das ich ihnen gegeben hatte, von ihren Feinden verwüstet wurde! Darum sorge ich dafür, dass dich das gleiche Schicksal trifft: Eine trostlose Wüste sollst du werden, du und das ganze Land der Edomiter! Deine Bewohner sollen erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin!«
“As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be a desolation, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”’
