So spricht der HERR: Die Leute von Moab begehen ein abscheuliches Verbrechen nach dem anderen. Sie haben die Gebeine des Königs von Edom zu feiner Asche verbrannt. Das werde ich nicht ungestraft lassen!
Das ganze Land und auch die Paläste von Kerijot werden ein Raub der Flammen. Die Feinde blasen zum Angriff, sie stimmen das Kriegsgeschrei an, und die Moabiter fallen im lauten Getöse der Schlacht.
So I will send a fire upon Moab,
and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth,
and Moab shall die amid uproar,
amid shouting and the sound of the trumpet;

Den Herrscher von Moab bringe ich um, mitsamt den führenden Männern. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, mein Wort!«
»So spricht der HERR: Die Leute von Juda begehen ein abscheuliches Verbrechen nach dem anderen. Sie treten mein Gesetz mit Füßen und leben nicht nach den Geboten, die ich, der HERR, ihnen gegeben habe. Sie ließen sich von den falschen Göttern verführen, denen schon ihre Vorfahren nachgelaufen sind. Das werde ich nicht ungestraft lassen!
Judgment on Judah
Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Judah,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they have rejected the law of the Lord,
and have not kept his statutes,
but their lies have led them astray,
those after which their fathers walked.

Ich brenne das ganze Land nieder, und Jerusalems Paläste werden ein Raub der Flammen.

So spricht der HERR: Die Leute von Israel begehen ein abscheuliches Verbrechen nach dem anderen. Das werde ich nicht ungestraft lassen! Ehrbare Menschen, die ihnen Geld schulden, verkaufen sie in die Sklaverei, ja, sie verkaufen einen Armen schon, wenn er ein Paar Schuhe nicht bezahlen kann!

Den Wehrlosen treten sie in den Staub, und dem Schwachen verweigern sie sein Recht. Vater und Sohn gehen mit ein und demselben Mädchen ins Bett und ziehen damit meinen heiligen Namen in den Schmutz.

Neben jedem Altar machen sie sich weiche Polster aus den Kleidern, die sie den Armen als Pfand wegnehmen. Im Tempel ihres Gottes saufen sie Wein, den sie für nicht bezahlte Schulden gefordert haben!

Dabei war ich es doch, der die Amoriter vernichtet hat, um ihr Land den Israeliten zu geben! Sie waren so groß wie Zedern und so stark wie Eichen, aber ich habe sie mit Stumpf und Stiel ausgerottet.

Ja, ich habe euch aus Ägypten befreit und vierzig Jahre lang durch die Wüste geleitet, bis ihr das Land der Amoriter in Besitz nehmen konntet.

Einige von euch habe ich als Propheten erwählt und junge Männer berufen, sich mir zum Dienst zu weihen. Ich, der HERR, frage euch Israeliten: Habe ich nicht dies alles für euch getan?

Ihr aber habt diejenigen, die sich mir geweiht hatten, gezwungen, ihr Gelübde zu brechen und Wein zu trinken. Den Propheten habt ihr verboten, euch meine Botschaft weiterzusagen.

saying, ‘You shall not prophesy.’

Darum werde ich euch eine Last aufbürden, unter der ihr hin- und herschwankt wie ein zu voller Erntewagen!
“Behold, I will press you down in your place,

Sogar der Schnellste unter euch kann dann nicht mehr entfliehen, dem Stärksten hilft seine Kraft nicht mehr, und der beste Soldat verliert sein Leben.

Die Bogenschützen werden überrannt, die besten Läufer und schnellsten Reiter auf der Flucht getötet.
