Mein Volk fragt sein Holz, und sein Stab soll ihm predigen; denn der Hurerei–Geist verführt sie, daß sie wider ihren Gott Hurerei treiben.

Mein Volk holt sich Rat bei Götzenbildern aus Holz. Sie erwarten Auskunft und Hilfe, indem sie mit Stäben das Orakel befragen. Besessen von ihrer Hurerei und Treulosigkeit, sind sie auf Abwege geraten; von mir, ihrem Gott, wollen sie nichts mehr wissen.

Es befragt sein Holz und sein Stock soll ihm Auskunft geben. Ja, der Geist der Unzucht führt es irre. Unzucht haben sie getrieben und ihren Gott verlassen.
