Und er sprach zu den Leuten von Sukkoth: Gebt doch dem Volk, das unter mir ist, etliche Brote; denn sie sind müde, daß ich nachjage den Königen der Midianiter, Sebah und Zalmuna.

Deshalb bat Gideon die Bewohner der nahen Stadt Sukkot: »Gebt doch meinen Soldaten etwas Brot! Sie sind übermüdet, denn wir verfolgen die midianitischen Könige Sebach und Zalmunna!«

sagte er zu den Einwohnern von Sukkot: Gebt doch den Leuten, die mir folgen, einige Laibe Brot; denn sie sind erschöpft. Ich bin dabei, Sebach und Zalmunna, die Könige von Midian, zu verfolgen.
