My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Mein Sohn, vergiss nie, was ich dir beigebracht habe! Nimm dir meine Ratschläge zu Herzen und bewahre sie!
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Dann wird es dir gut gehen, ein langes und erfülltes Leben liegt vor dir.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
An Güte und Treue soll es dir niemals fehlen. Trage sie wie eine Kette um deinen Hals, ja, schreibe sie dir tief in dein Herz!
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
So wirst du Freundschaft und Ansehen bei Gott und Menschen finden.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Verlass dich nicht auf deinen eigenen Verstand, sondern vertraue voll und ganz dem HERRN!
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Denke bei jedem Schritt an ihn; er zeigt dir den richtigen Weg und krönt dein Handeln mit Erfolg.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Halte dich nicht selbst für klug; begegne dem HERRN mit Ehrfurcht und meide das Böse!
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Das bringt Heilung für deinen Körper und belebt dich mit neuer Kraft.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
Ehre den HERRN mit dem, was du hast; schenke ihm das Beste deiner Ernte.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Dann wird er deine Vorratskammern füllen und deine Weinfässer überfließen lassen.
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
Mein Sohn, wenn der HERR dich zurechtweist, dann sei nicht entrüstet und sträube dich nicht,
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
denn darin zeigt sich seine Liebe. Wie ein Vater seinen Sohn erzieht, den er liebt, so erzieht dich auch der HERR.
Blessed is He who Finds Wisdom
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Glücklich ist der Mensch, der weise und urteilsfähig geworden ist!
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
Er hat mehr Gewinn davon als jemand, der Silber und Gold besitzt.
She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
Selbst die kostbarsten Perlen verblassen gegenüber dem Wert der Einsicht, sie übertrifft alles, was man sich erträumt.
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
Denn in ihrer rechten Hand hält sie ein langes Leben bereit, und mit ihrer linken verleiht sie Reichtum und Ehre.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
Wer sich von der Weisheit führen lässt, der findet Glück und Frieden.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Ja, die Weisheit gibt ein erfülltes Leben, und wer an ihr festhält, kann sich glücklich schätzen!
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Mit Hilfe der Weisheit wurden Himmel und Erde erschaffen, der HERR entwarf alles mit seinem Verstand.
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Seine Klugheit ließ die Quellen aus der Tiefe hervorsprudeln und Regen aus den Wolken fallen.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Mein Sohn, achte darauf, dass du die Weisheit und Besonnenheit nie aus den Augen verlierst!
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
Sie werden dein Leben erfüllen und dir Ansehen bei den Menschen verleihen.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
Dann kannst du sicher deinen Weg gehen, nichts bringt dich zu Fall.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Abends legst du dich ohne Sorgen ins Bett und schläfst die ganze Nacht hindurch ruhig und tief.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
Du brauchst nicht zu befürchten, dass dich auf einmal ein Unglück trifft, wie es gottlosen Menschen geschieht.
For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Der HERR selbst ist der Grund für deine Zuversicht; er lässt dich nicht in eine Falle laufen.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
Wenn jemand deine Unterstützung braucht und du ihm helfen kannst, dann weigere dich nicht.
Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
Vertröste ihn nicht auf morgen, wenn du heute helfen kannst!
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
Plane nichts Böses gegen einen Menschen, der dir sein Vertrauen schenkt.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
Brich keinen Streit vom Zaun mit einem, der dir nichts getan hat.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
Beneide einen gewalttätigen Menschen nicht und nimm ihn dir nicht zum Vorbild.
For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
Denn der HERR verabscheut den, der krumme Wege geht, der Aufrichtige aber ist sein Vertrauter.
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Der Fluch des HERRN trifft alle, die ihn missachten; aber er segnet den, der rechtschaffen lebt.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
Er treibt seinen Spott mit allen, die ihn verspotten; aber er wendet denen seine Liebe zu, die wissen, dass sie ihn brauchen.
