Bildad Says God Rewards the Good
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

“How long will you say these things,
And the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

Wie lange noch willst du derlei reden? Nur heftiger Wind sind die Worte deines Mundes.
“Does God pervert justice?
Or does the Almighty pervert what is right?
Or does the Almighty pervert what is right?
Beugt etwa Gott das Recht oder beugt der Allmächtige die Gerechtigkeit?
“If your sons sinned against Him,
Then He delivered them into the power of their transgression.

Haben deine Kinder gefehlt gegen ihn, gab er sie der Gewalt ihres Frevels preis.
“If you would seek God
And implore the compassion of the Almighty,

Ja, frag nur das frühere Geschlecht und merk dir, was die Väter erforschten!

Wir sind von gestern nur und wissen nichts, wie Schatten sind auf Erden unsre Tage.
“Will they not teach you and tell you,
And bring forth words from their minds?

Unterweisen sie dich nicht, sprechen sie nicht zu dir, geben sie dir nicht Worte aus ihrem Herzen?
“Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the rushes grow without water?

Wächst ohne Sumpf das Schilfrohr hoch, wird Riedgras ohne Wasser groß?
“While it is still green and not cut down,
Yet it withers before any other plant.

In Blüte und noch nicht gemäht, verwelkt es schon vor allem Gras.
“So are the paths of all who forget God;
And the hope of the godless will perish,

So sind die Wege aller, die Gott vergessen, so wird die Hoffnung des Ruchlosen zunichte.
Whose confidence is fragile,

Ein zartes Gewebe ist seine Zuversicht, ein Spinnennetz ist sein Vertrauen.

Tilgt man ihn aus an seiner Stätte, verleugnet sie ihn: Nie habe ich dich gesehen.

Siehe, das ist die Freude seines Weges und andere sprossen aus dem Staub.
“Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity,
Nor will He support the evildoers.

Siehe, Gott verschmäht den Schuldlosen nicht, die Hand der Boshaften aber hält er nicht fest.
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
And your lips with shouting.

Mit Lachen wird er deinen Mund noch füllen, deine Lippen mit Jubel.
