Den Pharisäern war zu Ohren gekommen, dass Jesus noch mehr Nachfolger gewann und taufte als Johannes — obwohl er nicht einmal selbst taufte, sondern nur seine Jünger. Als Jesus das erfuhr,
He left Judea and went away again into Galilee.
verließ er Judäa und kehrte nach Galiläa zurück.
So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph;
unter anderem nach Sychar. Dieser Ort liegt in der Nähe des Feldes, das Jakob seinem Sohn Josef geschenkt hatte.
and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Dort befand sich der Jakobsbrunnen. Müde von der Wanderung setzte sich Jesus an den Brunnen. Es war um die Mittagszeit.
The Woman of Samaria
There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”
Da kam eine Samariterin aus der nahe gelegenen Stadt zum Brunnen, um Wasser zu holen. Jesus bat sie: »Gib mir etwas zu trinken!«
For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
Denn seine Jünger waren in die Stadt gegangen, um etwas zu essen einzukaufen.
Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
Die Frau war überrascht, denn normalerweise wollten die Juden nichts mit den Samaritern zu tun haben. Sie sagte: »Du bist doch ein Jude! Wieso bittest du mich um Wasser? Schließlich bin ich eine samaritische Frau!«
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Jesus antwortete ihr: »Wenn du wüsstest, was Gott dir geben will und wer dich hier um Wasser bittet, würdest du mich um das Wasser bitten, das du wirklich zum Leben brauchst. Und ich würde es dir geben.«
She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?
»Aber Herr«, meinte da die Frau, »du hast doch gar nichts, womit du Wasser schöpfen kannst, und der Brunnen ist tief! Wo willst du denn das Wasser für mich hernehmen?
“You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?”
Kannst du etwa mehr als Jakob, unser Stammvater, der diesen Brunnen gegraben hat? Er selbst, seine Söhne und sein Vieh haben schon daraus getrunken.«
Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again;
Jesus erwiderte: »Wer dieses Wasser trinkt, wird bald wieder durstig sein.
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Wer aber von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm gebe, der wird nie wieder Durst bekommen. Dieses Wasser wird in ihm zu einer nie versiegenden Quelle, die ewiges Leben schenkt.«
The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.”
»Dann gib mir von diesem Wasser, Herr«, bat die Frau, »damit ich nie mehr durstig bin und nicht immer wieder herkommen und Wasser holen muss!«
He said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”
Jesus entgegnete: »Geh und ruf deinen Mann. Dann kommt beide hierher!«
The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’;
»Ich bin nicht verheiratet«, wandte die Frau ein. »Das stimmt«, erwiderte Jesus, »verheiratet bist du nicht.
for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.”
Fünf Männer hast du gehabt, und der, mit dem du jetzt zusammenlebst, ist nicht dein Mann. Da hast du die Wahrheit gesagt.«
The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
Erstaunt sagte die Frau: »Ich sehe, Herr, du bist ein Prophet!
“Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”
Kannst du mir dann eine Frage beantworten? Unsere Vorfahren haben Gott auf diesem Berg dort angebetet. Warum also behauptet ihr Juden, man könne Gott nur in Jerusalem anbeten?«
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
Jesus antwortete: »Glaub mir, die Zeit kommt, in der ihr Gott, den Vater, weder auf diesem Berg noch in Jerusalem anbeten werdet.
“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
Ihr wisst ja nicht einmal, wer der ist, den ihr anbetet. Wir aber wissen, zu wem wir beten. Denn das Heil der Welt kommt von den Juden.
“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
Doch es kommt die Zeit — ja, sie ist schon da —, in der die Menschen den Vater überall anbeten werden, weil sie von seinem Geist und seiner Wahrheit erfüllt sind. Von solchen Menschen will der Vater angebetet werden.
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Denn Gott ist Geist. Und wer Gott anbeten will, muss von seinem Geist erfüllt sein und in seiner Wahrheit leben.«
The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.”
Die Frau entgegnete: »Ja, ich weiß, dass einmal der Messias kommen soll, der von Gott versprochene Retter.« — Auf Griechisch nennt man ihn auch den Christus. — »Wenn dieser kommt, wird er uns das alles erklären.«
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
Da sagte Jesus: »Du sprichst mit ihm. Ich bin es.«
At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”
Als seine Jünger aus der Stadt zurückkamen, wunderten sie sich, dass er mit einer Frau redete. Aber keiner fragte ihn: »Was willst du von ihr? Warum sprichst du mit ihr?«
So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men,
Da ließ die Frau ihren Wasserkrug stehen, lief in die Stadt und rief allen Leuten zu:
“Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?”
»Kommt mit! Ich habe einen Mann getroffen, der alles von mir weiß! Vielleicht ist er der Messias!«
They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.
Neugierig liefen die Leute aus der Stadt zu Jesus.
Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
Inzwischen hatten ihm seine Jünger zugeredet: »Rabbi, iss doch etwas!«
But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
Aber er sagte zu ihnen: »Ich habe eine Speise, von der ihr nichts wisst.«
So the disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?”
»Hat ihm wohl jemand etwas zu essen gebracht?«, fragten sich die Jünger untereinander.
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
Aber Jesus erklärte ihnen: »Ich lebe davon, dass ich Gottes Willen erfülle und sein Werk zu Ende führe. Dazu hat er mich in diese Welt gesandt.
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
Habt ihr nicht selbst gesagt: ›Es dauert noch vier Monate, dann beginnt die Ernte‹? Ich dagegen sage euch: Macht doch eure Augen auf und seht euch die Felder an! Das Getreide ist schon reif für die Ernte.
“Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
Wer sie einbringt, bekommt schon jetzt seinen Lohn und sammelt Frucht für das ewige Leben. Beide sollen sich über die Ernte freuen: wer gesät hat und wer die Ernte einbringt.
“For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’
Hier trifft das Sprichwort zu: ›Einer sät, der andere erntet.‹
“I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”
Ich habe euch auf ein Feld geschickt, das ihr nicht bestellt habt, damit ihr dort ernten sollt. Andere haben sich vor euch abgemüht, und ihr erntet die Früchte ihrer Arbeit.«
The Samaritans
From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.”
Viele Leute aus Sychar glaubten allein deshalb an Jesus, weil die Frau überall erzählt hatte: »Dieser Mann weiß alles, was ich getan habe.«
So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
Als sie nun zu Jesus kamen, baten sie ihn, länger bei ihnen zu bleiben, und er blieb noch zwei Tage.
Many more believed because of His word;
So konnten ihn alle hören, und daraufhin glaubten noch viel mehr Menschen an ihn.
and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
Sie sagten zu der Frau: »Jetzt glauben wir nicht nur deshalb an Jesus, weil du uns von ihm erzählt hast. Wir haben ihn jetzt selbst gehört und wissen: Er ist wirklich der Retter der Welt!«
After the two days He went forth from there into Galilee.
Jesus blieb zwei Tage in Sychar, dann zog er weiter nach Galiläa.
For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
Er selbst hatte zwar einmal gesagt, dass ein Prophet in seiner Heimat nichts gilt.
So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves also went to the feast.
Als er aber dort ankam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer freundlich auf. Sie waren nämlich während des Passahfestes in Jerusalem gewesen und hatten alles miterlebt, was er dort getan hatte.
Healing a Nobleman’s Son
Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick at Capernaum.
Auf seinem Weg durch Galiläa kam Jesus auch wieder nach Kana, wo er Wasser in Wein verwandelt hatte. In Kapernaum lebte damals ein königlicher Beamter, dessen Sohn sehr krank war.
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was imploring Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Als dieser Mann hörte, dass Jesus aus Judäa nach Galiläa zurückgekehrt war, ging er zu ihm und flehte: »Komm schnell in mein Haus und heile meinen Sohn; er liegt im Sterben!«
So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”
»Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder zu sehen bekommt, glaubt ihr nie«, sagte Jesus zu ihm.
The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
Der Beamte bat ihn: »Herr, komm bitte mit, bevor mein Kind stirbt!«
Jesus said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.
»Du kannst beruhigt nach Hause gehen«, erwiderte Jesus, »dein Sohn ist gesund!« Der Mann vertraute auf das, was Jesus ihm gesagt hatte, und ging nach Hause.
As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living.
Noch während er unterwegs war, kamen ihm einige seiner Diener entgegen. »Dein Kind ist gesund!«, riefen sie.
So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
Der Vater erkundigte sich: »Seit wann geht es ihm besser?« Sie antworteten: »Gestern Mittag gegen ein Uhr hatte er plötzlich kein Fieber mehr.«
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed and his whole household.
Da wurde dem Vater klar, dass Jesus genau in dieser Stunde gesagt hatte: »Dein Sohn ist gesund!« Seitdem glaubte dieser Mann mit allen, die in seinem Haus lebten, an Jesus.
