In den Tagen Amrafels, des Königs von Schinar, Arjochs, des Königs von Ellasar, Kedor-Laomers, des Königs von Elam, und Tidals, des Königs der Völker,
führten sie Krieg gegen Bera, den König von Sodom, gegen Birscha, den König von Gomorra, Schinab, den König von Adma, Schemeber, den König von Zebojim, und den König von Bela, das jetzt Zoar heißt.
these kings went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboyim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
Sie alle zogen als Verbündete in das Siddimtal, das jetzt Salzmeer heißt.
All these latter kings joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Dead Sea Valley).
Zwölf Jahre waren sie Kedor-Laomer untertan gewesen, im dreizehnten Jahr fielen sie von ihm ab.
For twelve years they had been subject to Kedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

Then they turned back and went to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they conquered the whole territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who were living in Hazezon Tamar.
Der König von Sodom, der König von Gomorra, der König von Adma, der König von Zebojim und der König von Bela, das jetzt Zoar heißt, zogen aus und stellten sich ihnen im Siddimtal zum Kampf,
Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboyim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and drew up their battle lines in the Valley of Siddim
nämlich Kedor-Laomer, dem König von Elam, Tidal, dem König der Völker, Amrafel, dem König von Schinar, und Arjoch, dem König von Ellasar: vier Könige gegen fünf.
against Kedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goyim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king of Ellasar — four kings against five.
Das Tal von Siddim war voller Erdpechgruben. Der König von Sodom und der von Gomorra mussten fliehen und fielen dort hinein. Die Übrigen flohen ins Gebirge.
Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and when the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some of the men fell into them and the rest fled to the hills.
Die Feinde nahmen die ganze Habe von Sodom und Gomorra sowie alle ihre Nahrungsvorräte mit und zogen ab.
The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food; then they went away.
Als sie abzogen, nahmen sie auch Lot, den Neffen Abrams, und seine Habe mit; Lot wohnte damals in Sodom.
They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom.
Ein Flüchtling kam und berichtete es dem Hebräer Abram; Abram wohnte bei den Eichen des Amoriters Mamre, des Bruders Eschkols und Aners. Sie waren Abrams Bundesgenossen.
Als Abram hörte, sein Bruder sei gefangen, führte er seine ausgebildete Mannschaft, dreihundertachtzehn Mann, die in seinem Haus geboren waren, heraus und nahm die Verfolgung auf bis nach Dan.
When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
In der Nacht teilten sie sich in Gruppen, er und seine Knechte. Er schlug sie und verfolgte sie bis Hoba, nördlich von Damaskus.
During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
Er brachte die ganze Habe zurück, auch seinen Bruder Lot und dessen Habe brachte er zurück sowie die Frauen und das Kriegsvolk.
He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.
Als er nach dem Sieg über Kedor-Laomer und die mit ihm verbündeten Könige zurückkam, zog ihm der König von Sodom ins Schawetal entgegen, das jetzt Tal des Königs heißt.
After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
Melchisedek, der König von Salem, brachte Brot und Wein heraus. Er war Priester des Höchsten Gottes.
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,
Er segnete Abram und sagte: Gesegnet sei Abram vom Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde,
and he blessed Abram, saying,
“Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth.
“Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth.
und gepriesen sei der Höchste Gott, der deine Feinde an dich ausgeliefert hat. Darauf gab ihm Abram den Zehnten von allem.
And praise be to God Most High,
who delivered your enemies into your hand.”

Der König von Sodom sagte zu Abram: Gib mir die Leute zurück, die Habe aber nimm für dich!
The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself.”
Abram entgegnete dem König von Sodom: Ich erhebe meine Hand zum HERRN, dem Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde:
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “With raised hand I have sworn an oath to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,
Keinen Faden und keinen Schuhriemen, nichts von allem, was dir gehört, werde ich nehmen. Du sollst nicht behaupten können: Ich habe Abram reich gemacht.
that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’
Nur was meine Leute verzehrt haben und was auf die Männer entfällt, die mit mir gezogen sind, auf Aner, Eschkol und Mamre, das sollen sie als ihren Anteil behalten.
I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me — to Aner, Eshkol and Mamre. Let them have their share.”
