Darauf wandte sich König David an die ganze Versammlung: Mein Sohn Salomo, den allein Gott erwählt hat, ist noch jung und unerfahren. Das Werk aber ist groß; denn nicht für Menschen ist das Gebäude bestimmt, sondern für Gott, den HERRN.
Offerings for the Temple
Then King David said to the entire assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced and the work is great; for the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.

Nach meinen besten Kräften habe ich nun für das Haus meines Gottes Gold beschafft für die goldenen, Silber für die silbernen, Bronze für die bronzenen, Eisen für die eisernen und Holz für die hölzernen Gegenstände, dazu Schohamsteine mit Einfassungen, Malachit und buntfarbige Steine sowie allerlei Edelsteine und Alabaster in Menge.
“Now with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.
Aus Liebe zum Haus meines Gottes spende ich aus meinem Besitz, meinem Gold und Silber, über all das hinaus, was ich für das Haus des Heiligtums schon bereitgestellt habe,
“Moreover, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy temple,
noch weitere 3 000 Talente Gold vom Ofirgold und 7 000 Talente geläutertes Silber. Man soll damit die Wände der Räume verkleiden
namely, 3,000 talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings;
und Gold zur Verfügung haben für die goldenen und Silber für die silbernen Gegenstände und für jede Arbeit von Künstlerhand. Wer ist nun bereit, seine Hand ebenso für den HERRN zu füllen?
of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the LORD?”
Da zeigten die Häupter der Großfamilien, die Vorsteher der israelitischen Stämme, die Obersten der Tausend- und Hundertschaften und die obersten Beamten des königlichen Dienstes ihre Freigebigkeit.
Then the rulers of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the overseers over the king’s work, offered willingly;
Sie spendeten für den Bau des Hauses Gottes 5 000 Talente Gold, 10 000 Golddariken, 10 000 Talente Silber, 18 000 Talente Bronze, 100 000 Talente Eisen.
and for the service for the house of God they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, and 10,000 talents of silver, and 18,000 talents of brass, and 100,000 talents of iron.
Wer Edelsteine besaß, gab sie zum Schatz des Hauses des HERRN in die Hände Jehiëls, eines Nachkommen Gerschons.
Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, in care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Das Volk freute sich über diese Freigebigkeit; denn sie hatten mit ungeteiltem Herzen willig für den HERRN gespendet. Auch König David hatte eine große Freude.
Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD with a whole heart, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
Da pries David den HERRN vor der ganzen Versammlung und rief: Gepriesen bist du, HERR, Gott unseres Vaters Israel, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
David’s Prayer
So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.
Dein, HERR, sind Größe und Kraft, Ruhm und Glanz und Hoheit; dein ist alles im Himmel und auf Erden. HERR, dein ist das Königtum. Du erhebst dich als Haupt über alles.
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
Reichtum und Ehre kommen von dir; du bist der Herrscher über das All. In deiner Hand liegen Kraft und Stärke; es steht in deiner Hand, alles groß und stark zu machen.
“Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
Darum danken wir dir, unser Gott, und rühmen deinen herrlichen Namen.
“Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
Doch wer bin ich und was ist mein Volk, dass wir die Kraft besaßen, diese Gaben zu spenden? Von dir kommt ja alles; und was wir dir gegeben haben, stammt aus deiner Hand.
“But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.
Denn wir sind nur Fremde bei dir, Beisassen, wie alle unsere Väter. Wie ein Schatten sind unsere Tage auf Erden und ohne Hoffnung.
“For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.
HERR, unser Gott, diese ganze Fülle, die wir bereitgestellt haben, um dir, deinem heiligen Namen, ein Haus zu bauen, kam aus deiner Hand; dir gehört alles.
“O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours.
Ich weiß, mein Gott, dass du die Herzen prüfst und an Aufrichtigkeit Gefallen hast. Mit aufrichtigem Herzen habe ich dies alles gegeben und ich habe mit Freuden gesehen, wie auch dein Volk, das sich hier eingefunden hat, dir willig spendet.
“Since I know, O my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.
HERR, Gott unserer Väter Abraham, Isaak und Israel, erhalte diese Gesinnung für immer im Herzen deines Volkes! Lenke sein Herz auf dich!
“O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers, preserve this forever in the intentions of the heart of Your people, and direct their heart to You;
Gib auch meinem Sohn Salomo ein ungeteiltes Herz, damit er deine Gebote, Bundeszeugnisse und Gesetze bewahrt und alles tut, um das Gebäude zu errichten, das ich vorbereitet habe!
and give to my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple, for which I have made provision.”
Dann befahl David der ganzen Versammlung: Preist den HERRN, euren Gott! Und die ganze Versammlung lobte den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter. Sie verneigten sich und warfen sich nieder vor dem HERRN und dem König.
Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless the LORD your God.” And all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed low and did homage to the LORD and to the king.
Am folgenden Tag brachten sie dem HERRN Opfer dar. Sie spendeten zu Brandopfern tausend Stiere, tausend Widder, tausend Lämmer sowie die dazugehörenden Trankopfer. Dazu kam eine Menge Schlachtopfer für ganz Israel.
Sacrifices
On the next day they made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
Voller Freude aßen und tranken sie an jenem Tag vor dem HERRN und machten Salomo, den Sohn Davids, zum zweiten Mal zum König. Sie salbten ihn zum Fürsten des HERRN und Zadok salbten sie zum Priester.
So they ate and drank that day before the LORD with great gladness.

And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed him as ruler for the LORD and Zadok as priest.

Salomo setzte sich nun anstelle seines Vaters David als König auf den Thron des HERRN. Er hatte Glück und ganz Israel leistete ihm Gehorsam.
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.
Alle hohen Beamten und Helden, auch alle Söhne des Königs David, unterwarfen sich Salomo.
All the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David pledged allegiance to King Solomon.
Der HERR ließ Salomo überaus mächtig werden vor den Augen Israels. Er verlieh seinem Königtum einen Glanz, wie ihn kein König in Israel vor ihm besessen hatte.
The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been on any king before him in Israel.
David, der Sohn Isais, war König von ganz Israel.
Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
Die Zeit, die er in Israel regierte, betrug vierzig Jahre. In Hebron regierte er sieben und in Jerusalem dreiunddreißig Jahre.
The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and in Jerusalem thirty-three years.
Er starb in hohem Alter, satt an Tagen, Reichtum und Ehre. Sein Sohn Salomo wurde König an seiner Stelle.
Death of David
Then he died in a ripe old age, full of days, riches and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place.
Die frühere und die spätere Geschichte des Königs David ist aufgezeichnet in der Geschichte des Sehers Samuel, in der Geschichte des Propheten Natan und in der Geschichte des Sehers Gad.
Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the chronicles of Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of Nathan the prophet and in the chronicles of Gad the seer,
