Danach gingen Mose und Aaron zum Pharao und sagten: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit sie mir in der Wüste ein Fest feiern können!
Der Pharao erwiderte: Wer ist der HERR, dass ich auf ihn hören und Israel ziehen lassen sollte? Ich kenne den HERRN nicht und denke auch nicht daran, Israel ziehen zu lassen.
And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.”
Da sagten sie: Der Gott der Hebräer ist uns begegnet und jetzt wollen wir drei Tagesmärsche weit in die Wüste ziehen und dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Schlachtopfer darbringen, damit er uns nicht mit Pest oder Schwert straft.
So they said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please, let us go three days’ journey into the desert and sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest He fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword.”
Der König von Ägypten entgegnete ihnen: Warum, Mose und Aaron, wollt ihr die Leute zum Nichtstun verleiten? Fort mit euch, tut euren Frondienst!
Then the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people from their work? Get back to your labor.”
Der Pharao fuhr fort: So viele Leute sind jetzt im Land und ihr wollt sie vom Frondienst abhalten?
And Pharaoh said, “Look, the people of the land are many now, and you make them rest from their labor!”
Am selben Tag noch gab der Pharao den Antreibern der Leute und den Listenführern die Anweisung:
So the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,
Gebt den Leuten nicht mehr, wie bisher, Stroh zum Ziegelmachen! Sie sollen selber gehen und sich Stroh besorgen.
“You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
Legt ihnen aber das gleiche Soll an Ziegeln auf, das sie bisher erfüllen mussten! Lasst ihnen davon nichts nach! Denn sie sind faul und deshalb schreien sie: Wir wollen gehen und unserem Gott Schlachtopfer darbringen.
And you shall lay on them the quota of bricks which they made before. You shall not reduce it. For they are idle; therefore they cry out, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
Erschwert man den Leuten die Arbeit, dann sind sie beschäftigt und kümmern sich nicht um leeres Geschwätz.
Let more work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it, and let them not regard false words.”
Da gingen die Antreiber der Leute und die Listenführer zu den Leuten und sagten: So spricht der Pharao: Ich gebe euch kein Stroh mehr.
And the taskmasters of the people and their officers went out and spoke to the people, saying, “Thus says Pharaoh: ‘I will not give you straw.
Geht selbst und besorgt euch Stroh, wo ihr es findet! Von eurem Arbeitssoll aber wird euch nichts erlassen.
Go, get yourselves straw where you can find it; yet none of your work will be reduced.’ ”
Die Leute verteilten sich also über ganz Ägypten, um sich Stroh zu besorgen.
So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
Die Antreiber drängten und sagten: Ihr müsst euer tägliches Soll erfüllen wie bisher, als euch noch Stroh geliefert wurde.
And the taskmasters forced them to hurry, saying, “Fulfill your work, your daily quota, as when there was straw.”
Die Antreiber des Pharao schlugen die israelitischen Listenführer, die sie eingesetzt hatten, und sagten: Warum habt ihr heute nicht wie neulich noch das festgesetzte Soll an Ziegeln erfüllt?
Also the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, “Why have you not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and today, as before?”
Da gingen die israelitischen Listenführer zum Pharao und erhoben vor ihm Klage: Warum tust du deinen Sklaven das an?
Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried out to Pharaoh, saying, “Why are you dealing thus with your servants?
Man gibt deinen Sklaven kein Stroh, aber man sagt uns: Macht Ziegel! Schau, man hat deine Sklaven geschlagen; die Schuld aber liegt bei deinen Leuten.
There is no straw given to your servants, and they say to us, ‘Make brick!’ And indeed your servants are beaten, but the fault is in your own people.”
Er entgegnete: Faul seid ihr, faul. Nur deshalb sagt ihr: Wir wollen gehen und dem HERRN Schlachtopfer darbringen.
But he said, “You are idle! Idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’
Jetzt aber fort mit euch und tut eure Arbeit! Stroh bekommt ihr nicht, aber euer Soll an Ziegeln müsst ihr erfüllen.
Therefore go now and work; for no straw shall be given you, yet you shall deliver the quota of bricks.”
Da sahen sich die israelitischen Listenführer in einer üblen Lage, weil man ihnen sagte: Nichts von eurem täglichen Soll an Ziegeln wird euch erlassen.
And the officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble after it was said, “You shall not reduce any bricks from your daily quota.”
Als sie vom Pharao kamen, stießen sie auf Mose und Aaron, die ihnen entgegenkamen.
Then, as they came out from Pharaoh, they met Moses and Aaron who stood there to meet them.
Die Listenführer sagten zu ihnen: Der HERR soll euch erscheinen und euch richten; denn ihr habt uns beim Pharao und seinen Dienern in Verruf gebracht und ihnen ein Schwert in die Hand gegeben, mit dem sie uns umbringen können.
Da wandte sich Mose an den HERRN und sagte: Mein Herr, wozu behandelst du dieses Volk so schlecht? Wozu hast du mich denn gesandt?
Israel’s Deliverance Assured
So Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me?
