Zwischen Vorhalle und Altar sollen die Priester klagen, die Diener des HERRN sollen sprechen: Hab Mitleid, HERR, mit deinem Volk und überlass dein Erbe nicht der Schande, damit die Völker nicht über uns spotten! Warum soll man bei den Völkern sagen: Wo ist denn ihr Gott?

Laßt die Priester, des HERRN Diener, weinen zwischen Halle und Altar und sagen: HERR, schone deines Volks und laß dein Erbteil nicht zu Schanden werden, daß Heiden über sie herrschen! Warum willst du lassen unter den Völkern sagen: Wo ist nun ihr Gott?

Ihr Priester, ihr Diener des HERRN, weint im Tempelvorhof und betet: »HERR, hab Erbarmen mit deinem Volk! Wir gehören doch zu dir! Lass nicht zu, dass fremde Völker uns verspotten! Warum sollen sie uns verhöhnen und rufen: ›Wo bleibt er nun, ihr Gott?‹«
