Die Worte, die Amos, ein Schafhirte aus Tekoa, über Israel geschaut hat, in den Tagen des Usija, des Königs von Juda, und in den Tagen des Jerobeam, des Sohnes des Joasch, des Königs von Israel, zwei Jahre vor dem Erdbeben.
Er sprach: Der HERR brüllt vom Zion her, aus Jerusalem lässt er seine Stimme erschallen. Da welken die Auen der Hirten und der Gipfel des Karmel verdorrt.
Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors
And he said:
“The Lord roars from Zion
and utters his voice from Jerusalem;
the pastures of the shepherds mourn,
and the top of Carmel withers.”

So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen von Damaskus und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil sie Gilead mit eisernen Dreschschlitten zermalmten,
darum schicke ich Feuer gegen Hasaëls Haus; es frisst Ben-Hadads Paläste.
So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.

Ich zerbreche den Riegel von Damaskus, ich vernichte den Herrscher von Bikat-Awen und den Zepterträger von Bet-Eden; das Volk von Aram muss in die Verbannung nach Kir, spricht der HERR.
So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen von Gaza und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil sie ganze Gebiete entvölkerten, um die Verschleppten an Edom auszuliefern,
Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Gaza,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.

darum schicke ich Feuer in Gazas Mauern; es frisst seine Paläste.
So I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.

Ich vernichte den Herrscher von Aschdod und den Zepterträger von Aschkelon. Ich wende meine Hand gegen Ekron und der Rest der Philister wird verschwinden, spricht GOTT, der Herr.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen von Tyrus und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil sie Verschleppte scharenweise an Edom auslieferten und nicht mehr an den Bund mit ihren Brüdern dachten,

“For three transgressions of Tyre,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
“For three transgressions of Tyre,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
darum schicke ich Feuer in die Mauern von Tyrus; es frisst seine Paläste.
So I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre,
and it shall devour her strongholds.”

So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen von Edom und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil Edom seinen Bruder mit dem Schwert verfolgte und jedes Mitleid unterdrückte, weil es unversöhnlich festhielt an seinem Zorn und nie abließ von seinem Groll,

because he pursued his brother with the sword
and cast off all pity,
and his anger tore perpetually,
and he kept his wrath forever.
“For three transgressions of Edom,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because he pursued his brother with the sword

darum schicke ich Feuer gegen Teman; es frisst Bozras Paläste.
So I will send a fire upon Teman,
and it shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah.”

So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen der Ammoniter und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil sie in Gilead die Schwangeren aufschlitzten, als sie ihr Gebiet erweitern wollten,

“For three transgressions of the Ammonites,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they have ripped open pregnant women in Gilead,
that they might enlarge their border.
“For three transgressions of the Ammonites,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they have ripped open pregnant women in Gilead,
that they might enlarge their border.
darum lege ich Feuer an die Mauern von Rabba; es frisst seine Paläste unter Geschrei am Tag des Krieges, unter Getöse am Tag des Sturms.
So I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah,
and it shall devour her strongholds,
with shouting on the day of battle,
with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;
and it shall devour her strongholds,
