Hiskia sandte Boten durch ganz Israel und Juda. Sie sollten das Volk zum Tempel nach Jerusalem einladen, um für den HERRN, den Gott Israels, das Passahfest zu feiern. Auch den Bewohnern von Ephraim und Manasse schickte er Boten mit einer Einladung.

Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Der König, seine Beamten und die Versammelten in Jerusalem hatten beschlossen, das Fest im 2. Monat zu feiern.
For the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the Passover in the second month —
Normalerweise fand es im 1. Monat statt. Aber bis dahin hatten sich noch nicht alle Priester für den Dienst im Heiligtum gereinigt. Auch konnte das Volk nicht in so kurzer Zeit nach Jerusalem kommen.
for they could not keep it at that time because the priests had not consecrated themselves in sufficient number, nor had the people assembled in Jerusalem —
Darum waren der König und die Anwesenden damit einverstanden, das Passahfest zu verschieben.
and the plan seemed right to the king and all the assembly.
Sie beschlossen, alle Israeliten von Beerscheba im Süden bis Dan im Norden einzuladen. Sie sollten nach Jerusalem kommen, um das Passahfest für den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zu feiern. Denn so, wie es in Moses Gesetz vorgeschrieben war, hatte man es schon lange nicht mehr begangen.
So they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come and keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it as often as prescribed.
Die Boten zogen mit den Briefen des Königs und seiner Beamten durch ganz Israel und Juda. Wie der König es ihnen aufgetragen hatte, riefen sie den Menschen zu: »Ihr Israeliten habt den Krieg mit Assyrien überlebt. Kehrt um zum HERRN, dem Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Israels! Dann wird er sich auch euch wieder zuwenden.
So couriers went throughout all Israel and Judah with letters from the king and his princes, as the king had commanded, saying, “O people of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may turn again to the remnant of you who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.
Werdet dem HERRN, dem Gott eurer Vorfahren, nicht untreu wie eure Väter und Brüder. Ihr habt es selbst erlebt, wie er sie dafür bestrafte, so dass alle Völker ringsum entsetzt waren.
Do not be like your fathers and your brothers, who were faithless to the Lord God of their fathers, so that he made them a desolation, as you see.
Seid nicht so stur wie eure Väter! Unterwerft euch dem HERRN und kommt zu seinem Tempel, den er sich für alle Zeiten zum Heiligtum erwählt hat! Dient wieder dem HERRN, eurem Gott, damit sein Zorn sich von euch abwendet!
Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever, and serve the Lord your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.
Wenn ihr jetzt zu ihm kommt, dann wird er sich auch über eure Brüder und Kinder erbarmen, die verschleppt worden sind. Die Assyrer werden sie freigeben und in dieses Land zurückkehren lassen. Denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist gütig und barmherzig. Er wird sich nicht von euch abwenden, wenn ihr zu ihm kommt!«
For if you return to the Lord, your brothers and your children will find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”
Die Boten zogen von einer Stadt zur anderen durch die Gebiete von Ephraim und Manasse bis nach Sebulon. Aber die Menschen dort lachten sie nur aus und verspotteten sie.
So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun, but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them.
Nur einige Männer aus den Stämmen Asser, Manasse und Sebulon ließen sich aufrütteln und kamen nach Jerusalem.
However, some men of Asher, of Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.
Zu den Bewohnern von Juda redete Gott so eindringlich, dass sie einmütig der Bitte folgten, die der König und seine Beamten im Auftrag des HERRN ausgesprochen hatten.
The hand of God was also on Judah to give them one heart to do what the king and the princes commanded by the word of the Lord.
Im 2. Monat kamen sehr viele Menschen nach Jerusalem, um das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote zu feiern.
And many people came together in Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month, a very great assembly.
Sie beseitigten alle Götzenaltäre, die noch in Jerusalem standen. Auch die kleinen Altäre für die Räucheropfer entfernten sie und warfen alles ins Kidrontal.
They set to work and removed the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for burning incense they took away and threw into the brook Kidron.
Am 14. Tag des 2. Monats wurden die Passahlämmer geschlachtet. Diesmal hatten die Priester und Leviten sich rechtzeitig für den Dienst im Heiligtum gereinigt. Sie schämten sich, dass sie bisher so nachlässig gewesen waren. So konnten sie nun die Brandopfer im Tempel des HERRN darbringen.
And they slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were ashamed, so that they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of the Lord.
Sie stellten sich so auf, wie es im Gesetz von Mose, dem Mann Gottes, vorgeschrieben war. Die Priester sprengten das Opferblut, das die Leviten ihnen brachten, an den Altar.
They took their accustomed posts according to the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests threw the blood that they received from the hand of the Levites.
Viele Festbesucher aber hatten sich nicht nach der Vorschrift gereinigt. Die Leviten schlachteten die Passahlämmer für sie, damit ihre Opfer dem HERRN geweiht werden konnten.
For there were many in the assembly who had not consecrated themselves. Therefore the Levites had to slaughter the Passover lamb for everyone who was not clean, to consecrate it to the Lord.
Vor allem viele aus den Stämmen Ephraim, Manasse, Sebulon und Issachar hatten sich nicht richtig gereinigt und aßen das Passahlamm nicht so, wie es im Gesetz vorgeschrieben ist. Doch Hiskia bat Gott für sie: »HERR, vergib in deiner Güte jedem,
For a majority of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than as prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord pardon everyone
der von ganzem Herzen mit dir, dem Gott seiner Vorfahren, leben will. Vergib ihnen, auch wenn sie sich nicht so gereinigt haben, wie es für dein Heiligtum angemessen wäre!«
Der HERR erhörte Hiskias Gebet und vergab ihnen.
And the Lord heard Hezekiah and healed the people.
Sieben Tage lang feierten die Israeliten, die nach Jerusalem gekommen waren, mit großer Freude das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote. Tag für Tag lobten die Leviten und die Priester laut den HERRN mit ihren Instrumenten.
König Hiskia dankte den Leviten dafür, dass sie mit so viel Einsicht den Dienst für den HERRN verrichtet hatten. Die ganze Woche lang brachten die Israeliten Friedensopfer dar und aßen gemeinsam die Opfermahlzeiten. Dabei lobten sie den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Vorfahren.
And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good skill in the service of the Lord. So they ate the food of the festival for seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord, the God of their fathers.
Als die sieben Tage zu Ende gingen, beschloss die ganze Versammlung, das Fest um eine Woche zu verlängern. Voller Freude feierten sie weitere sieben Tage.
Then the whole assembly agreed together to keep the feast for another seven days. So they kept it for another seven days with gladness.
König Hiskia von Juda hatte der Volksmenge dafür 1000 Stiere und 7000 Schafe geschenkt, und die höchsten Beamten gaben 1000 Rinder und 10.000 Schafe. Inzwischen hatten sich auch sehr viele Priester für ihren Dienst gereinigt.
For Hezekiah king of Judah gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 7,000 sheep for offerings, and the princes gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 10,000 sheep. And the priests consecrated themselves in great numbers.
Alle, die gekommen waren, freuten sich, das Fest zu feiern: die Bewohner von Juda, die Priester und Leviten, die Israeliten und die Ausländer, die in Israel oder Juda lebten.
The whole assembly of Judah, and the priests and the Levites, and the whole assembly that came out of Israel, and the sojourners who came out of the land of Israel, and the sojourners who lived in Judah, rejoiced.
In Jerusalem herrschte große Freude, denn seit der Zeit von König Salomo, Davids Sohn, hatte es eine solche Feier nicht mehr gegeben.
So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.
Zum Schluss des Festes standen die Priester aus dem Stamm Levi auf und baten den Herrn um seinen Segen für das Volk. Ihr Gebet drang bis in den Himmel, Gottes heilige Wohnung, und er erhörte sie.
Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came to his holy habitation in heaven.
