»Ich werde sie gegeneinander aufhetzen«, spricht der Herr, »jeder wird gegen jeden kämpfen: Bruder gegen Bruder, Nachbar gegen Nachbar, Stadt gegen Stadt, Provinz gegen Provinz.

Doch die weisen Männer von Zoan stehen dumm da, und auch die gelehrten Herren von Memfis haben sich getäuscht. Die Führer der Ägypter sind in Wirklichkeit Verführer.

Die Ägypter bringen nichts mehr zustande, was Hand und Fuß hat. Weder den Vornehmen und Angesehenen noch dem einfachen Volk gelingt etwas.

In dieser Zeit werden die Ägypter allen Mut verlieren. Erschrocken und zitternd ducken sie sich, weil der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, drohend die Faust gegen sie ballt.

Vor dem Land Juda werden die Ägypter furchtbare Angst haben. Wenn sie nur den Namen Juda hören, schrecken sie schon zusammen, denn ihnen graut vor dem Plan, den der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, gegen Ägypten gefasst hat.
