Der HERR sprach zu mir: »Kauf dir einen Gürtel aus Leinen, binde ihn dir um und sorg dafür, dass er nicht nass wird!«
The Ruined Loincloth
Thus says the Lord to me, “Go and buy a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, and do not dip it in water.”

Ich kaufte einen Gürtel und legte ihn an, so wie der HERR es mir befohlen hatte.
So I bought a loincloth according to the word of the Lord, and put it around my waist.
»Geh mit deinem neuen Gürtel an den Euphrat und versteck ihn dort in einer Felsspalte!«
“Take the loincloth that you have bought, which is around your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”
Wieder tat ich, was der HERR mir gesagt hatte, ging zum Euphrat und versteckte den Gürtel dort.
So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.
Nach langer Zeit sprach der HERR zu mir: »Geh zurück an den Euphrat und hol den Gürtel, den du auf meinen Befehl dort versteckt hast!«
And after many days the Lord said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there.”
Da wanderte ich wieder zum Euphrat und holte den Gürtel aus seinem Versteck hervor. Doch er war verrottet und zu nichts mehr zu gebrauchen.
Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and I took the loincloth from the place where I had hidden it. And behold, the loincloth was spoiled; it was good for nothing.
»Genauso werde ich den Hochmut der Bewohner von Jerusalem und ganz Juda zunichtemachen.
“Thus says the Lord: Even so will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Sie sind ein boshaftes Volk, das sich weigert, auf mich zu hören, und tut, wozu sein Eigensinn es treibt. Anderen Göttern laufen sie nach, dienen ihnen und beten sie an — darum werden sie diesem Gürtel gleichen, der zu nichts mehr zu gebrauchen ist!
This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who stubbornly follow their own heart and have gone after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be like this loincloth, which is good for nothing.
Wie sich ein Mann seinen Gürtel um die Hüften bindet, so wollte ich, der HERR, mich mit Israel und Juda verbinden. Mein Volk sollten sie sein, meinen Namen bekannt machen, mir Lob und Ehre bringen — doch sie haben mir nicht gehorcht!«
For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.
»Sag ihnen: ›So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Weinkrüge sind dazu da, dass man sie füllt.‹ Wenn sie dir entgegnen: ›Das weiß doch jeder, dass Weinkrüge voll sein müssen!‹,
The Jars Filled with Wine
“You shall speak to them this word: ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, “Every jar shall be filled with wine.”’ And they will say to you, ‘Do we not indeed know that every jar will be filled with wine?’

dann antworte: ›Der HERR kündigt euch an: Die Bewohner dieses Landes, die Könige, die als Nachkommen von David regieren, die Priester und Propheten, ja, alle Einwohner von Jerusalem — sie sind die Krüge, und ich werde sie mit Wein füllen, bis sie betrunken sind!
Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land: the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Und dann schlage ich sie gegeneinander, so dass einer am anderen zerbricht, die Väter und die Söhne. Ich werde kein Mitleid mit ihnen haben und sie nicht schonen, sondern sie erbarmungslos zerschmettern. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, mein Wort.‹«
And I will dash them one against another, fathers and sons together, declares the Lord. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.’”
Der HERR hat zu euch gesprochen, darum seid nicht überheblich, sondern hört genau zu und nehmt es euch zu Herzen!

Ehrt den HERRN, euren Gott, bevor er die Nacht hereinbrechen lässt und ihr in der Dämmerung auf den Hügeln umherstolpert, ehe er das Licht, auf das ihr wartet, in tiefe Nacht und hoffnungslose Dunkelheit verwandelt.

Doch wenn ihr seine Warnungen in den Wind schlagt, werde ich heimlich über euren Hochmut weinen; dann kann ich meine Tränen nicht mehr zurückhalten, weil Gottes Volk, seine Herde, in die Gefangenschaft getrieben wird.

Der Herr sagt: »Richtet dem König und seiner Mutter aus: Steigt herab vom Thron und setzt euch auf den Boden, denn die Zeit eurer glanzvollen Herrschaft ist vorbei!

Die Städte im Süden von Juda werden belagert, und niemand kann zu ihnen durchkommen. Ganz Juda wird in die Gefangenschaft verschleppt.«

»Jerusalem, siehst du, wie deine Feinde von Norden her kommen? Was soll nun aus deiner Herde werden, die du beschützen solltest und auf die du so stolz warst?

Was wirst du sagen, wenn ich die als Herren über dich einsetze, die du für deine Freunde hieltest? Schmerzen werden dich überfallen wie die Wehen eine schwangere Frau.

Und wenn du dich dann fragst: ›Warum trifft mich dieses Unheil?‹, dann sollst du wissen: Wegen deiner unzähligen Sünden reißt man dir jetzt dein Kleid hoch und tut dir Gewalt an.

Sag mir: Kann ein dunkelhäutiger Mensch etwa seine Hautfarbe wechseln oder ein Leopard sein geflecktes Fell? Genauso wenig kannst du Gutes tun, die du ans Böse gewöhnt bist!

Zerstreuen werde ich deine Einwohner wie Spreu im Wüstenwind!
Dieses Los erwartet dich, das ist der gerechte Lohn, den ich dir gebe, weil du mich vergessen und falschen Göttern geglaubt hast. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, mein Wort!

Wegen deiner Untreue werde auch ich dir jetzt das Kleid hochreißen, hoch bis über dein Gesicht, damit alle dich nackt sehen.

Dein ständiges Ehebrechen, dein aufreizendes Lachen und deine schamlose Hurerei: Das alles ist mir nicht entgangen! Auf den Hügeln und Feldern hast du abscheuliche Götzen verehrt. Wehe dir, Jerusalem! Wie lange soll das noch so weitergehen? Willst du denn nie wieder rein werden?«
