Da empfing ich noch eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
God’s Grace to Unfaithful Jerusalem
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
»Du Mensch, halte den Einwohnern von Jerusalem vor Augen, was für abscheuliche Dinge sie treiben!
“Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations
Verkünde ihnen: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Jerusalem, du bist in Kanaan zur Welt gekommen; dein Vater war ein Amoriter, deine Mutter eine Hetiterin.
and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem, “Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite, your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.
Nach deiner Geburt wurde nicht einmal deine Nabelschnur abgeschnitten. Niemand hat dich gewaschen und mit Salz abgerieben, niemand hat dich in Windeln gewickelt.
“As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for cleansing; you were not rubbed with salt or even wrapped in cloths.
Kein Mensch hatte Mitleid mit dir und erbarmte sich über dich. Noch am Tag deiner Geburt warf man dich aufs freie Feld, weil niemand dich haben wollte.
“No eye looked with pity on you to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you. Rather you were thrown out into the open field, for you were abhorred on the day you were born.
Da kam ich an dir vorüber und sah dich hilflos und blutverschmiert am Boden liegen. Ich sagte zu dir: ›Du sollst am Leben bleiben, ja, du sollst leben
“When I passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!’
und heranwachsen wie eine Blume auf dem Feld!‹ Du blühtest auf und wurdest zu einer schönen Frau voller Anmut. Deine Brüste rundeten sich, dein Haar wurde voll und schön. Aber immer noch warst du völlig nackt.
“I made you numerous like plants of the field. Then you grew up, became tall and reached the age for fine ornaments; your breasts were formed and your hair had grown. Yet you were naked and bare.
Wieder kam ich an dir vorüber, und ich sah, dass du alt genug warst, einen Mann zu lieben. Da breitete ich meinen Mantel über dich aus und bedeckte deinen nackten Körper als Zeichen dafür, dass du mir gehören solltest. Ich, Gott, der HERR, schwor dir die Treue und schloss mit dir einen Bund fürs Leben. So wurdest du meine Frau.
“Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord GOD.
Ich badete dich, wusch dir das Blut ab und salbte dich mit duftenden Ölen.
“Then I bathed you with water, washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil.
Ich zog dir ein buntes, kostbares Kleid und Sandalen aus bestem Leder an. Du bekamst von mir ein Stirnband aus feinem Leinen und einen seidenen Umhang.
“I also clothed you with embroidered cloth and put sandals of porpoise skin on your feet; and I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk.
Ich gab dir wertvollen Schmuck, legte dir Spangen an die Arme und eine Kette um den Hals.
“I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck.
Deine Nase schmückte ich mit einem Ring, ich gab dir Ohrringe und setzte dir eine prachtvolle Krone auf.
“I also put a ring in your nostril, earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.
Du warst geschmückt mit Silber und Gold, du kleidetest dich in feines Leinen, Seide und bunt gewebte Stoffe. Die erlesensten Speisen bekamst du: Brot, gebacken aus bestem Mehl, Honig und Öl. So wurdest du wunderschön und würdig, eine Königin zu sein.
“Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, honey and oil; so you were exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty.
Bei allen Völkern erzählte man sich von deiner Schönheit; sie war makellos und vollkommen durch den Schmuck, den ich, Gott, der HERR, dir geschenkt hatte.
“Then your fame went forth among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you,” declares the Lord GOD.
Aber du — du hast dir viel auf deine Schönheit eingebildet. Dass sie überall gerühmt wurde, nutztest du reichlich aus: Jedem, der dir über den Weg lief, hast du dich angeboten und dich ihm an den Hals geworfen.
“But you trusted in your beauty and played the harlot because of your fame, and you poured out your harlotries on every passer-by who might be willing.
Aus deinen bunten Kleidern machtest du dir ein Lager bei den Opferstätten für die Götzen. Dort schliefst du mit jedem, den du bekommen konntest. Deine Schamlosigkeit übertraf alles, was es vor und nach dir je gegeben hat!
“You took some of your clothes, made for yourself high places of various colors and played the harlot on them, which should never come about nor happen.
Du nahmst den Schmuck aus Silber und Gold, den ich dir geschenkt hatte, und machtest dir männliche Götterfiguren daraus. Mit ihnen hast du mich betrogen.
“You also took your beautiful jewels made of My gold and of My silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself male images that you might play the harlot with them.
Deine bunt gewebten Kleider zogst du ihnen an und brachtest ihnen als Opfer den Weihrauch und das Öl dar, die du von mir bekommen hattest.
“Then you took your embroidered cloth and covered them, and offered My oil and My incense before them.
Das Brot aus bestem Mehl, Honig und Öl, das ich dir gegeben hatte, hast du ihnen als ein wohlriechendes Opfer gereicht, um sie für dich zu gewinnen. Das alles hast du getan; dies bezeuge ich, Gott, der HERR.
“Also My bread which I gave you, fine flour, oil and honey with which I fed you, you would offer before them for a soothing aroma; so it happened,” declares the Lord GOD.
Die Söhne und Töchter, die du mir geboren hattest, warfst du den Götzen zum Fraß vor. War die Hurerei, die du getrieben hattest, dir noch zu wenig?
“Moreover, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. Were your harlotries so small a matter?
Musstest du auch noch meine Kinder schlachten und als Opfer für andere Götter verbrennen?
“You slaughtered My children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire.
Während du all diese abscheulichen Dinge tatest und die Ehe mit mir brachst, hast du keinen Gedanken an deine Kindheitstage verschwendet, in denen du nackt und hilflos strampelnd in deinem Blut lagst.
“Besides all your abominations and harlotries you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare and squirming in your blood.
Darum sage ich, Gott, der HERR: Wehe dir, Jerusalem! Es wird dir schlecht ergehen! Denn dein schlimmes Treiben war dir noch nicht genug:
“Then it came about after all your wickedness (‘Woe, woe to you!’ declares the Lord GOD),
An jedem öffentlichen Platz hast du dir ein Bett für deine Hurerei errichtet, ja, an jeder Straßenecke bautest du deine Opferstätten. Du hast deine Schönheit missbraucht und deine Beine gespreizt für jeden, der vorüberkam. Unaufhörlich triebst du deine schamlose Hurerei.
that you built yourself a shrine and made yourself a high place in every square.
Du ließest dich mit den Ägyptern ein, deinen Nachbarn mit dem großen Glied. Du schliefst mit ihnen, um mich zu kränken.
“You also played the harlot with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, and multiplied your harlotry to make Me angry.
Darum erhob ich drohend meine Hand und nahm dir einen Teil von dem weg, was ich dir geschenkt hatte. Ich lieferte dich den gierigen Philisterinnen aus, die dich hassen; doch sogar sie verabscheuten deine schamlose Hurerei.
“Behold now, I have stretched out My hand against you and diminished your rations. And I delivered you up to the desire of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd conduct.
Als Nächstes warfst du dich den Assyrern an den Hals, weil du immer noch nicht genug hattest. Du schliefst mit ihnen, aber dein Verlangen war auch dann noch nicht gestillt.
“Moreover, you played the harlot with the Assyrians because you were not satisfied; you played the harlot with them and still were not satisfied.
Du triebst es auch mit den Babyloniern, dem Händlervolk, doch selbst danach hattest du noch nicht genug.
“You also multiplied your harlotry with the land of merchants, Chaldea, yet even with this you were not satisfied.”’”
Ich, Gott, der HERR, sage dir: Wie sehr warst du von brennender Begierde beherrscht, du hast es schlimmer getrieben als die schlimmste Hure!
“How languishing is your heart,” declares the Lord GOD, “while you do all these things, the actions of a bold-faced harlot.
An jeder Straßenecke hast du einen Altar für deine Liebesdienste errichtet und an jedem öffentlichen Platz ein Bett für deine Hurerei aufgestellt. Dabei benahmst du dich nicht einmal wie eine gewöhnliche Hure, denn du lehntest jede Bezahlung ab.
“When you built your shrine at the beginning of every street and made your high place in every square, in disdaining money, you were not like a harlot.
Du Ehebrecherin! Andere Männer hast du deinem Ehemann vorgezogen!
“You adulteress wife, who takes strangers instead of her husband!
Jeder Hure gibt man Geld, du aber hast deinen Liebhabern sogar noch Geschenke gegeben und sie bestochen, damit sie von überall her kommen und mit dir schlafen!
“Men give gifts to all harlots, but you give your gifts to all your lovers to bribe them to come to you from every direction for your harlotries.
So machtest du genau das Gegenteil von dem, was andere Huren tun — du warfst dich jedem an den Hals, während dir keiner nachlief. Niemand gab dir Geld, im Gegenteil: Du bezahltest, damit man mit dir schlief. So weit ist es mit dir gekommen!
“Thus you are different from those women in your harlotries, in that no one plays the harlot as you do, because you give money and no money is given you; thus you are different.”
Darum, du Hure, höre, was ich, der HERR, dir sage:
Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD.
Du hast deinen Körper schamlos entblößt, um mit allen deinen Liebhabern zu schlafen; du hast deinen abscheulichen Götzen gedient und für sie deine Kinder geschlachtet.
Thus says the Lord GOD, “Because your lewdness was poured out and your nakedness uncovered through your harlotries with your lovers and with all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your sons which you gave to idols,
Und nun pass auf! Ich werde deine Liebhaber zusammenrufen — alle, die du geliebt, und alle, die du verachtet hast. Von überall her lasse ich sie zum Gericht über dich kommen. Dann ziehe ich dir vor ihren Augen die Kleider aus und stelle dich in aller Öffentlichkeit bloß.
therefore, behold, I will gather all your lovers with whom you took pleasure, even all those whom you loved and all those whom you hated. So I will gather them against you from every direction and expose your nakedness to them that they may see all your nakedness.
Ich werde dich verurteilen, so wie es sich für eine Mörderin und Ehebrecherin gehört. Weil du mich herausgefordert und meinen Zorn geweckt hast, spreche ich dir das Todesurteil.
“Thus I will judge you like women who commit adultery or shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.
Ich gebe dich in die Gewalt deiner Liebhaber; sie werden deine Hurenaltäre und deine Opferstätten zerstören. Sie reißen dir die Kleider vom Leib, nehmen deinen prächtigen Schmuck weg und lassen dich völlig nackt am Boden liegen.
“I will also give you into the hands of your lovers, and they will tear down your shrines, demolish your high places, strip you of your clothing, take away your jewels, and will leave you naked and bare.
Sie rufen die Volksmenge zusammen, damit sie dich steinigen und mit ihren Schwertern zerstückeln.
“They will incite a crowd against you and they will stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.
Deine Häuser brennen sie nieder und vollstrecken das Urteil an dir vor den Augen vieler Frauen. So bereite ich deiner Hurerei ein Ende — dann kannst du dir keinen Liebhaber mehr kaufen!
“They will burn your houses with fire and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women. Then I will stop you from playing the harlot, and you will also no longer pay your lovers.
Wenn ich schließlich meinen leidenschaftlichen Zorn an dir gestillt habe, dann kann ich wieder zur Ruhe kommen.
“So I will calm My fury against you and My jealousy will depart from you, and I will be pacified and angry no more.
Keinen Gedanken hast du mehr daran verschwendet, was ich seit deiner Kindheit alles für dich getan habe. Darum lass es dir gesagt sein: Du hast mich, Gott, den HERRN, zornig gemacht, und jetzt bekommst du die Folgen deiner abscheulichen Taten zu spüren. Du hast schon so viel Schuld auf dich geladen, warum musstest du es auch noch auf die Spitze treiben?
“Because you have not remembered the days of your youth but have enraged Me by all these things, behold, I in turn will bring your conduct down on your own head,” declares the Lord GOD, “so that you will not commit this lewdness on top of all your other abominations.
Du wirst schon sehen: Überall wird man über dich einen Spottvers verbreiten: ›Wie die Mutter, so die Tochter!‹
“Behold, everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb concerning you, saying, ‘Like mother, like daughter.’
Ja, du bist eine echte Tochter deiner Mutter! Auch sie hat ihren Mann und ihre Kinder verachtet! Du bist wie deine Schwestern, die von ihren Männern und Kindern nichts mehr wissen wollten. Eure Mutter war eine Hetiterin und euer Vater ein Amoriter.
“You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and children. You are also the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.
Deine ältere Schwester ist Samaria mit ihren Töchtern, sie wohnt nördlich von dir; im Süden wohnt deine jüngere Schwester Sodom mit ihren Töchtern.
“Now your older sister is Samaria, who lives north of you with her daughters; and your younger sister, who lives south of you, is Sodom with her daughters.
Es war dir noch nicht genug, ihrem schlechten Beispiel zu folgen und die gleichen abscheulichen Dinge wie sie zu tun — nein, nach kurzer Zeit hast du es in allem noch schlimmer getrieben als sie!
“Yet you have not merely walked in their ways or done according to their abominations; but, as if that were too little, you acted more corruptly in all your conduct than they.
Darum schwöre ich, Gott, der HERR, so wahr ich lebe: Deine Schwester Sodom und ihre Töchter haben nicht so viel Schuld auf sich geladen wie du und deine Töchter!
“As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “Sodom, your sister and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done.
Sie sahen hochmütig auf andere herab, sie lebten im Überfluss und in sorgloser Ruhe, ohne den Armen und Bedürftigen zu helfen.
“Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.
Sie waren stolz und überheblich und taten vor meinen Augen, was ich verabscheue. Als ich dies sah, habe ich sie verstoßen.
“Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them when I saw it.
Und auch Samaria hat nicht halb so viele Sünden begangen wie du. Du hast mehr widerliche Dinge getan als deine beiden Schwestern zusammen. Im Vergleich zu dir sind die beiden geradezu unschuldig!
“Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half of your sins, for you have multiplied your abominations more than they. Thus you have made your sisters appear righteous by all your abominations which you have committed.
Darum musst nun auch du deine Schande tragen — du hast sie dir selbst zuzuschreiben! Mit deinen abscheulichen Taten übertriffst du die Schuld deiner Schwestern bei weitem. Neben dir wirken sie geradezu gerecht. Schäm dich und trag deine Schande!«
“Also bear your disgrace in that you have made judgment favorable for your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. Yes, be also ashamed and bear your disgrace, in that you made your sisters appear righteous.
»Doch ich wende das Schicksal von Sodom, Samaria und ihren Töchtern zum Guten, und auch dich, Jerusalem, werde ich wiederherstellen.
“Nevertheless, I will restore their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and along with them your own captivity,
Das tue ich, damit du deine Schande eingestehst und dich schämst für alles, was du getan hast. Wenn Sodom und Samaria dies sehen, werden sie daraus Trost schöpfen.
in order that you may bear your humiliation and feel ashamed for all that you have done when you become a consolation to them.
Was für sie gilt, soll auch mit dir, Jerusalem, und mit deinen Töchtern geschehen: Ihr werdet wieder aufgebaut und bekommt eure frühere Stellung zurück.
“Your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their former state, and you with your daughters will also return to your former state.
Als du noch voller Hochmut auf alle anderen herabgesehen hast, warst du dir zu schade, den Namen deiner Schwester Sodom in den Mund zu nehmen.
“As the name of your sister Sodom was not heard from your lips in your day of pride,
Doch dann kam deine Bosheit ans Licht, und jetzt verhöhnen dich alle deine Nachbarinnen, die Edomiterinnen und die Philisterinnen. Überall sieht man nun auf dich herab.
before your wickedness was uncovered, so now you have become the reproach of the daughters of Edom and of all who are around her, of the daughters of the Philistines — those surrounding you who despise you.
So fällt dein schamloses Treiben auf dich zurück, und du musst die Folgen deiner abscheulichen Taten tragen. Darauf kannst du dich verlassen!
“You have borne the penalty of your lewdness and abominations,” the LORD declares.
Ich, Gott, der HERR, sage dir: Ich behandle dich so, wie du es verdienst, denn du hast dein Treueversprechen nicht gehalten und unseren Bund gebrochen.
For thus says the Lord GOD, “I will also do with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.
Ich aber werde mich an den Bund erinnern, den ich mit dir in deiner Jugend geschlossen habe. Für alle Zeiten will ich ihm wieder Geltung verschaffen.
The Covenant Remembered
“Nevertheless, I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
Dann wirst du dich an das erinnern, was du früher getan hast. Du wirst dich schämen, wenn ich dir die Herrschaft über deine beiden Schwestern gebe, so dass sie für dich wie Töchter sind. Das geht weit über den Bund hinaus, den ich damals mit dir geschlossen habe.
“Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both your older and your younger; and I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of your covenant.
Ja, ich selbst werde den Bund mit dir erneuern, und du wirst erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
“Thus I will establish My covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the LORD,
Wenn du dann an die vergangene Zeit zurückdenkst, wirst du vor lauter Scham kein Wort herausbringen. Doch ich werde dir alles vergeben, was du getan hast. Das verspreche ich, Gott, der HERR.«
so that you may remember and be ashamed and never open your mouth anymore because of your humiliation, when I have forgiven you for all that you have done,” the Lord GOD declares.
