Zwei Söhne Aarons, Nadab und Abihu, nahmen ihre Räucherpfannen, legten glühende Holzkohle hinein und streuten Weihrauch darüber. Damit gingen sie ins heilige Zelt, um es dem HERRN darzubringen. Aber sie taten es eigenmächtig, denn der Herr hatte es ihnen nicht befohlen.
Da ging ein Feuer vom HERRN aus, das die beiden auf der Stelle verzehrte. So starben sie dort im Heiligtum.
And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
Mose sagte zu Aaron: »Das hat der HERR gemeint, als er sagte: ›Denen, die mir nahe sind, erweise ich mich als heilig, dem ganzen Volk zeige ich meine Hoheit und Macht.‹« Aaron schwieg.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron held his peace.
Mose rief Mischaël und Elizafan, die Söhne von Aarons Onkel Usiël, und forderte sie auf, ihre toten Verwandten aus dem Heiligtum hinaus vor das Lager zu bringen.
And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come near; carry your brothers away from the front of the sanctuary and out of the camp.”
Die beiden kamen und trugen die Leichen mitsamt ihren Priestergewändern hinaus vor das Lager, so wie man es ihnen befohlen hatte.
So they came near and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.
Mose sagte zu Aaron und dessen Söhnen Eleasar und Itamar: »Lasst nicht euer Haar als Zeichen eurer Trauer ungekämmt, und zerreißt auch nicht eure Kleider! Denn sonst werdet ihr sterben, und Gottes Zorn trifft das ganze Volk. Die übrigen Israeliten mögen die Toten beweinen, die der HERR durch das Feuer getötet hat!
And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar his sons, “Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning that the Lord has kindled.
Verlasst nicht den Eingang zum heiligen Zelt, sonst sterbt auch ihr, denn ihr seid mit dem heiligen Öl zu Priestern des HERRN geweiht worden!« Die drei befolgten, was Mose ihnen befohlen hatte.
And do not go outside the entrance of the tent of meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you.” And they did according to the word of Moses.
»Du und deine Nachkommen, ihr sollt weder Wein noch andere berauschende Getränke trinken, bevor ihr das heilige Zelt betretet; sonst werdet ihr sterben! Diese Ordnung gilt euch und euren Nachkommen für alle Zeiten.
“Drink no wine or strong drink, you or your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.
Denn ihr müsst unterscheiden können zwischen dem, was Gott geweiht ist und was nicht, was als rein und was als unrein gilt.
You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,
Lehrt die Israeliten alle Ordnungen, die ich euch durch Mose gegeben habe!«
and you are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the Lord has spoken to them by Moses.”
Mose sagte zu Aaron und dessen Söhnen Eleasar und Itamar, die ihm geblieben waren: »Was vom Speiseopfer nicht für den HERRN verbrannt wird, könnt ihr für euch nehmen und daraus ungesäuertes Brot backen. Es ist besonders heilig, darum esst es neben dem Brandopferaltar!
Moses spoke to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his surviving sons: “Take the grain offering that is left of the Lord’s food offerings, and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.
An diesem heiligen Ort dürft ihr es essen, denn es ist euer Anteil. Euch und euren Nachkommen steht er zu; so hat der HERR es mir gesagt.
You shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your due and your sons’ due, from the Lord’s food offerings, for so I am commanded.
Von den Opfern, bei denen das Bruststück und die rechte Hinterkeule des Tieres dem Herrn besonders geweiht werden, stehen euch Priestern diese beiden Stücke zu. Ihr dürft sie zusammen mit euren Familien essen, solange ihr dies an einem reinen Ort tut. Es ist euer Anteil an den Friedensopfern der Israeliten.
But the breast that is waved and the thigh that is contributed you shall eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you, for they are given as your due and your sons’ due from the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the people of Israel.
Vorher jedoch sollen die Priester die Keule und das Bruststück zusammen mit dem Fett zum Altar bringen. Vor dem Heiligtum schwingen sie das Fleisch hin und her, um es dem HERRN zu weihen. Danach gehören diese Stücke euch und euren Nachkommen, denn so hat es der HERR für alle Zeiten befohlen.«
The thigh that is contributed and the breast that is waved they shall bring with the food offerings of the fat pieces to wave for a wave offering before the Lord, and it shall be yours and your sons’ with you as a due forever, as the Lord has commanded.”
Mose erkundigte sich, was mit dem Fleisch des Ziegenbocks geschehen war, den man als Sündopfer dargebracht hatte. Als er hörte, dass es mit dem Rest des Tieres verbrannt worden war, wurde er sehr zornig auf Aarons Söhne Eleasar und Itamar und stellte sie zur Rede:
Now Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it was burned up! And he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the surviving sons of Aaron, saying,
»Warum habt ihr das Sündopferfleisch nicht im Vorhof des Heiligtums gegessen? Es ist doch euer Anteil, der besonders heilig ist. Der HERR hat es euch gegeben, weil ihr durch euren Dienst das Volk von seiner Schuld befreit und Versöhnung mit Gott bewirkt.
“Why have you not eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is a thing most holy and has been given to you that you may bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the Lord?
Nur wenn das Blut des Opfertieres in das heilige Zelt gebracht worden wäre, hätte das Fleisch verbrannt werden dürfen. So aber hättet ihr von dem Fleisch essen müssen. Das hatte ich euch doch befohlen!«
Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary. You certainly ought to have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”
Aaron entgegnete: »Versteh doch: Heute haben meine Söhne dem HERRN sein Sündopfer und sein Brandopfer dargebracht, und trotzdem ist mir so etwas Schreckliches zugestoßen! Hätte es da dem HERRN gefallen, wenn ich heute vom Sündopfer gegessen hätte?«
And Aaron said to Moses, “Behold, today they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the Lord, and yet such things as these have happened to me! If I had eaten the sin offering today, would the Lord have approved?”
