den Israeliten dies weiterzusagen: »Wer von euch oder von den Fremden, die bei euch leben, eines seiner Kinder dem Götzen Moloch opfert, muss sterben! Das Volk in eurem Land soll ihn steinigen.
“You shall also say to the sons of Israel:
‘Any man from the sons of Israel or from the aliens sojourning in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

Ich selbst werde mich gegen ihn wenden und ihn nicht am Leben lassen. Denn er hat mein Heiligtum entweiht und meinen heiligen Namen beschmutzt, indem er eines seiner Kinder dem Götzen Moloch geopfert hat.
‘I will also set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given some of his offspring to Molech, so as to defile My sanctuary and to profane My holy name.
Wenn die Israeliten die Augen davor verschließen und ihn nicht hinrichten,
‘If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death,
strafe ich selbst diesen Mann und seine Familie. Ich verstoße ihn aus dem Volk und töte ihn — zusammen mit allen anderen, die mir die Treue gebrochen und den Götzen Moloch angebetet haben.
then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut off from among their people both him and all those who play the harlot after him, by playing the harlot after Molech.
Mein Zorn trifft auch jeden, der bei Totenbeschwörern und Wahrsagern Hilfe sucht und mir so die Treue bricht: Ich stoße ihn aus dem Volk aus und lasse ihn sterben.
‘As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.
Ihr sollt heilig sein und mir allein dienen, denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott!
‘You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.
Richtet euch nach meinen Ordnungen und befolgt sie! Ich bin der HERR, der euch zu seinem heiligen Volk macht.
‘You shall keep My statutes and practice them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
Wer seinen Vater oder seine Mutter verflucht, muss getötet werden! Er hat für sein Verbrechen nichts anderes verdient.
‘If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him.
Wenn ein Mann mit der Frau eines anderen die Ehe bricht, sollen beide getötet werden.
‘If there is a man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, one who commits adultery with his friend’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Schläft ein Mann mit der Frau seines Vaters, dann entehrt er seinen Vater. Er und die Frau müssen sterben, sie sind selbst schuld an ihrem Tod.
‘If there is a man who lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Wenn ein Mann mit seiner Schwiegertochter schläft, sollen beide mit dem Tod bestraft werden. Sie haben etwas Abscheuliches getan und müssen die Folgen tragen.
‘If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Wenn ein Mann mit einem anderen Mann schläft, ist dies eine abscheuliche Tat. Beide sollen mit dem Tod bestraft werden, ihre Schuld fällt auf sie zurück.
‘If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Heiratet ein Mann eine Frau und dann noch ihre Mutter, ist das ein schändliches Vergehen. Man soll ihn und die beiden Frauen verbrennen, denn so etwas darf es bei euch nicht geben.
‘If there is a man who marries a woman and her mother, it is immorality; both he and they shall be burned with fire, so that there will be no immorality in your midst.
Wenn ein Mann mit einem Tier verkehrt, soll er hingerichtet werden, und auch das Tier soll man töten.
‘If there is a man who lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death; you shall also kill the animal.
Verkehrt eine Frau mit einem Tier, muss man die Frau und das Tier töten. Beide müssen sterben, denn mit diesem Vergehen haben sie ihr Leben verwirkt.
‘If there is a woman who approaches any animal to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Heiratet ein Mann seine Schwester oder Halbschwester, ist das eine Schande. Beide müssen öffentlich hingerichtet werden. Weil der Mann mit seiner Schwester geschlafen hat, ist er selbst schuld an seinem Tod.
‘If there is a man who takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off in the sight of the sons of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he bears his guilt.
Wenn ein Mann mit einer Frau während der Zeit ihrer monatlichen Blutung schläft, so machen beide sich damit unrein. Sie haben ihr Leben verwirkt und müssen aus dem Volk ausgeschlossen werden.
‘If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
Niemand darf mit der Schwester seiner Mutter oder seines Vaters schlafen. Das ist Inzest, und beide müssen die Folgen tragen.
‘You shall also not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for such a one has made naked his blood relative; they will bear their guilt.
Wer mit der Frau seines Onkels schläft, entehrt seinen Onkel. Er und die Frau werden die Folgen tragen und ohne Nachkommen sterben.
‘If there is a man who lies with his uncle’s wife he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they will bear their sin. They will die childless.
Wenn ein Mann die Frau seines Bruders heiratet, ist das eine Schande. Weil er seinen Bruder damit entehrt, werden er und die Frau kinderlos bleiben.
‘If there is a man who takes his brother’s wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They will be childless.
Haltet euch an meine Ordnungen, lebt nach meinen Geboten! Dann werdet ihr nicht aus dem Land Kanaan verstoßen, in das ich euch bringe und in dem ihr wohnen sollt.
‘You are therefore to keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, so that the land to which I am bringing you to live will not spew you out.
Richtet euch nicht nach den Sitten und Bräuchen der Völker im Land! Denn sie haben alle diese Dinge getan, die in meinen Augen abscheulich sind. Darum werde ich sie vertreiben und euch das Land geben.
‘Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.
Ich habe es euch zugesagt und versprochen, dass ihr es in Besitz nehmen könnt, ein Land, in dem es selbst Milch und Honig im Überfluss gibt. Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott; euch habe ich unter allen Völkern zu einem besonderen Volk gemacht.
‘Hence I have said to you, “You are to possess their land, and I Myself will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.
Deshalb müsst ihr unterscheiden zwischen reinem und unreinem Vieh, zwischen reinen und unreinen Vögeln. Verunreinigt euch nicht, indem ihr Vieh, Vögel oder Kriechtiere esst, die ich für unrein erklärt habe! Sonst werdet ihr selbst mir zuwider.
‘You are therefore to make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean.
Ihr sollt heilig sein und mir allein dienen, denn ich, der HERR, bin heilig. Euch habe ich als einziges Volk zu meinem Eigentum erwählt.
‘Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.
Ein Totenbeschwörer oder Wahrsager muss getötet werden, ganz gleich ob Mann oder Frau. Man soll sie steinigen, sie sind selbst schuld an ihrem Tod.«
‘Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.’”
