Es war aber nahe das Ostern der Juden; und es gingen viele aus der Gegend hinauf gen Jerusalem vor Ostern, daß sie sich reinigten.

Es war kurz vor dem jüdischen Passahfest. Aus dem ganzen Land zogen die Leute nach Jerusalem, um schon vor Beginn des Festes die Reinigungsvorschriften zu erfüllen.

Das Paschafest der Juden war nahe und viele zogen schon vor dem Paschafest aus dem ganzen Land nach Jerusalem hinauf, um sich zu heiligen.
