Jesus aber wandelte nicht mehr frei unter den Juden, sondern ging von dannen in eine Gegend nahe bei der Wüste, in eine Stadt, genannt Ephrem, und hatte sein Wesen daselbst mit seinen Jüngern.

Deshalb vermied es Jesus, sich in der Öffentlichkeit sehen zu lassen. Er zog sich nach Ephraim zurück, einer Stadt am Rand der Wüste. Dort blieb er mit seinen Jüngern.

Jesus ging von nun an nicht mehr öffentlich unter den Juden umher, sondern zog sich von dort in die Gegend nahe der Wüste zurück, zu einer Stadt namens Efraim. Dort blieb er mit seinen Jüngern.
