So sollst du nun den HERRN, deinen Gott, lieben und sein Gesetz, seine Weise, seine Rechte und seine Gebote halten dein Leben lang.
Love and Serve the Lord
“You shall therefore love the Lord your God and keep his charge, his statutes, his rules, and his commandments always.

Und erkennet heute, was eure Kinder nicht wissen noch gesehen haben, nämlich die Züchtigung des HERRN, eures Gottes, seine Herrlichkeit, dazu seine mächtige Hand und ausgereckten Arm
und seine Zeichen und Werke, die er getan hat unter den Ägyptern, an Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, und an allem seinem Lande;
his signs and his deeds that he did in Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt and to all his land,
und was er an der Macht der Ägypter getan hat, an ihren Rossen und Wagen, da er das Wasser des Schilfmeers über sie führte, da sie euch nachjagten und sie der HERR umbrachte bis auf diesen Tag;
and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and to their chariots, how he made the water of the Red Sea flow over them as they pursued after you, and how the Lord has destroyed them to this day,
und was er euch getan hat in der Wüste, bis ihr an diesen Ort gekommen seid;
and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place,
was er Dathan und Abiram getan hat, den Kindern Eliabs, des Sohnes Rubens, wie die Erde ihren Mund auftat und verschlang sie mit Gesinde und Hütten und allem ihrem Gut, das sie erworben hatten, mitten unter dem ganzen Israel.
and what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, son of Reuben, how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households, their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel.
Denn eure Augen haben die großen Werke des HERRN gesehen, die er getan hat.
For your eyes have seen all the great work of the Lord that he did.
Darum sollt ihr alle die Gebote halten, die ich dir heute gebiete, auf daß ihr gestärkt werdet, hineinzukommen und das Land einzunehmen, dahin ihr ziehet, daß ihr’s einnehmet;
“You shall therefore keep the whole commandment that I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and take possession of the land that you are going over to possess,
und daß du lange lebest in dem Lande, das der HERR euren Vätern geschworen hat ihnen zu geben und ihrem Samen, ein Land, darin Milch und Honig fließt.
and that you may live long in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Denn das Land, da du hin kommst, ist nicht wie Ägyptenland, davon ihr ausgezogen seid, da du deinen Samen säen und selbst tränken mußtest wie einen Kohlgarten;
sondern es hat Berge und Auen, die der Regen vom Himmel tränkt,
But the land that you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven,
auf welch Land der HERR, dein Gott, acht hat und die Augen des HERRN, deines Gottes, immerdar sehen, von Anfang des Jahrs bis ans Ende.
a land that the Lord your God cares for. The eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
Werdet ihr nun meine Gebote hören, die ich euch gebiete, daß ihr den HERRN, euren Gott, liebet und ihm dienet von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele,
“And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
so will ich eurem Lande Regen geben zu seiner Zeit, Frühregen und Spätregen, daß du einsammelst dein Getreide, deinen Most und dein Öl,
und will deinem Vieh Gras geben auf deinem Felde, daß ihr esset und satt werdet.
And he will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.
Hütet euch aber, daß sich euer Herz nicht überreden lasse, daß ihr abweichet und dienet andern Göttern und betet sie an,
Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them;
und daß dann der Zorn des HERRN ergrimme über euch und schließe den Himmel zu, daß kein Regen komme und die Erde ihr Gewächs nicht gebe und ihr bald umkommet von dem guten Lande, das euch der HERR gegeben hat.
then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.
So fasset nun diese Worte zu Herzen und in eure Seele und bindet sie zum Zeichen auf eure Hand, daß sie ein Denkmal vor euren Augen seien.
“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
Und lehret sie eure Kinder, daß du davon redest, wenn du in deinem Hause sitzest oder auf dem Wege gehst, wenn du dich niederlegst und wenn du aufstehst;
You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
und schreibe sie an die Pfosten deines Hauses und an deine Tore,
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
daß du und deine Kinder lange leben in dem Lande, das der HERR deinen Vätern geschworen hat ihnen zu geben, solange die Tage vom Himmel auf Erden währen.
that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.
Denn wo ihr diese Gebote alle werdet halten, die ich euch gebiete, daß ihr darnach tut, daß ihr den HERRN, euren Gott, liebet und wandelt in allen seinen Wegen und ihm anhanget,
For if you will be careful to do all this commandment that I command you to do, loving the Lord your God, walking in all his ways, and holding fast to him,
so wird der HERR alle diese Völker vor euch her ausstoßen, daß ihr größere und stärkere Völker vertreibet, denn ihr seid.
then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.
Alle Örter, darauf eure Fußsohle tritt, sollen euer sein; von der Wüste an und von dem Berge Libanon und von dem Wasser Euphrat bis ans Meer gegen Abend soll eure Grenze sein.
Niemand wird euch widerstehen können. Furcht und Schrecken vor euch wird der HERR über alles Land kommen lassen, darauf ihr tretet, wie er euch verheißen hat.
No one shall be able to stand against you. The Lord your God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread, as he promised you.
Siehe, ich lege euch heute vor den Segen und den Fluch:
“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:
den Segen so ihr gehorchet den Geboten des HERRN, eures Gottes, die ich euch heute gebiete;
the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today,
den Fluch aber, so ihr nicht gehorchen werdet den Geboten des HERRN, eures Gottes, und abweichet von dem Wege, den ich euch heute gebiete, daß ihr andern Göttern nachwandelt, die ihr nicht kennet.
and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, to go after other gods that you have not known.
Wenn dich der HERR, dein Gott, in das Land bringt, da du hineinkommst, daß du es einnehmest, so sollst du den Segen sprechen lassen auf dem Berge Garizim und den Fluch auf dem Berge Ebal,
And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
welche sind jenseit des Jordans, der Straße nach gegen der Sonne Niedergang, im Lande der Kanaaniter, die auf dem Blachfelde wohnen, Gilgal gegenüber, bei dem Hain More.
Denn ihr werdet über den Jordan gehen, daß ihr hineinkommet, das Land einzunehmen, das euch der HERR, euer Gott, gegeben hat, daß ihr’s einnehmet und darin wohnet.
For you are to cross over the Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you. And when you possess it and live in it,
