Für den Chormeister. Ein Psalm Davids. Gott meines Lobes, schweig doch nicht!
For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
Denn ein Mund voll Frevel, ein Lügenmaul hat sich gegen mich aufgetan. Sie reden zu mir mit falscher Zunge,
They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
umgeben mich mit Worten des Hasses und bekämpfen mich grundlos.
For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
Sie klagen mich an für meine Liebe, ich aber bete.
And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
Sie vergelten mir Gutes mit Bösem, mit Hass meine Liebe:
Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
Einen Frevler bestelle gegen ihn als Zeugen, ein Ankläger trete zu seiner Rechten.
When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
Als Verurteilter gehe er aus dem Gericht hervor und sein Gebet erweise sich als Sünde.
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
Nur gering noch sei die Zahl seiner Tage, sein Amt erhalte ein anderer.
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Zu Waisen sollen werden seine Kinder und seine Frau zur Witwe.
Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
Unstet sollen seine Kinder umherziehen und betteln, aus den Trümmern des Hauses vertrieben.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
All seinen Besitz reiße an sich ein Gläubiger, Fremde sollen plündern, was er erworben hat.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
Niemand sei da, der ihm Huld bewahrt, keiner, der sich seiner Waisen erbarmt.
Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
Seine Nachkommen soll man vernichten, im nächsten Geschlecht schon erlösche ihr Name.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
Der Schuld seiner Väter werde beim HERRN gedacht, ungetilgt bleibe die Sünde seiner Mutter.
Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
Ihre Schuld stehe dem HERRN allzeit vor Augen, ihr Andenken lösche er aus auf Erden.
Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
Denn dieser Mensch dachte nie daran, Huld zu üben; er verfolgte den Gebeugten und den Armen und wollte den Verzagten töten.
As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
Er liebte den Fluch — der komme über ihn; er verschmähte den Segen — der bleibe ihm fern.
As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
Er zog den Fluch an wie ein Gewand; der dringe in seinen Leib wie Wasser und wie Öl in seine Knochen.
Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
Er werde für ihn wie das Kleid, in das er sich hüllt, wie der Gürtel, mit dem er sich allzeit umgürtet.
Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
So treiben es die, die mich anklagen mit Berufung auf den HERRN, die Böses gegen mein Leben reden.
But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
Du aber, GOTT und Herr, handle an mir, wie es deinem Namen entspricht! Ja, gut ist deine Huld, befreie mich!
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
Denn ich bin gebeugt und arm, mein Herz ist durchbohrt in meinem Innern.
I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
Wie ein flüchtiger Schatten schwinde ich dahin, wie eine Heuschrecke schüttelt man mich ab.
My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
Mir wanken die Knie vom Fasten, mein Fleisch nimmt ab und wird mager.
I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
Ja, ich wurde ihnen zum Spott, sie schütteln den Kopf, wenn sie mich sehen.
Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
Hilf mir, HERR, mein Gott, in deiner Huld errette mich!
That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
Sie sollen erkennen, dass dies deine Hand vollbracht hat, dass du, HERR, es getan hast.
Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
Mögen sie fluchen — du wirst segnen. Sie haben sich erhoben, aber sie werden zuschanden, doch dein Knecht wird sich freuen.
Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
Meine Ankläger müssen sich mit Schmach bekleiden, wie in einen Mantel sich in Schande hüllen.
I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
Ich will dem HERRN danken mit lauter Stimme, inmitten der Menge will ich ihn loben.
