“If you will return, O Israel,” declares the LORD,

Denn so spricht der HERR zu den Leuten von Juda und zu Jerusalem: Nehmt Neuland unter den Pflug und sät nicht in die Dornen!

Beschneidet euch für den HERRN und entfernt die Vorhaut eures Herzens, ihr Leute von Juda und ihr Einwohner Jerusalems! Sonst bricht mein Zorn wie Feuer los; er brennt und niemand kann löschen — wegen der Bosheit eurer Taten.

Meldet es in Juda, lasst es hören in Jerusalem und sagt: Stoßt im Land ins Widderhorn, ruft aus voller Kehle und sagt: Sammelt euch! Wir wollen ziehen in die befestigten Städte!

Stellt ein Feldzeichen auf: Nach Zion! Flüchtet, bleibt nicht stehen! Denn Unheil bringe ich von Norden und großes Verderben.

Der Löwe hat sich aus dem Dickicht erhoben, der Völkervernichter ist aufgebrochen; er hat seinen Ort verlassen, um dein Land zur Wüste zu machen. Deine Städte werden zerstört und niemand wird mehr darin wohnen.

Darum legt Trauerkleider an, klagt und heult: Nein, der glühende Zorn des HERRN hat sich nicht von uns abgewandt.

An jenem Tag wird es geschehen — Spruch des HERRN: Vergehen wird der Mut des Königs und der Mut der Machthaber. Die Priester werden starr sein vor Schrecken, die Propheten werden sich entsetzen.
“It shall come about in that day,” declares the LORD, “that the heart of the king and the heart of the princes will fail; and the priests will be appalled and the prophets will be astounded.”
Und ich sagte: Ach, Herr und GOTT! Wahrhaftig, schwer hast du getäuscht dieses Volk und Jerusalem. Du sagtest: Frieden werdet ihr haben! und nun geht uns das Schwert an die Kehle.
Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Surely You have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You will have peace’; whereas a sword touches the throat.”
In jener Zeit wird man von diesem Volk und von Jerusalem sagen: Ein Glutwind von den Höhen in der Wüste ist losgebrochen gegen die Tochter, mein Volk; kein Wind zum Worfeln und Reinigen;

Wasche dein Herz vom Bösen rein, Jerusalem, damit du gerettet wirst! Wie lange noch wohnen in dir deine frevelhaften Gedanken?

Horcht nur, man meldet aus Dan, aus Efraims Bergland kündet man Unheil:
For a voice declares from Dan,
And proclaims wickedness from Mount Ephraim.

Meldet den Nationen: Siehe! Lasst hören über Jerusalem: Belagerer kommen aus fernem Land, sie erheben gegen Judas Städte ihre Stimme.
“Report it to the nations, now!

‘Besiegers come from a far country,
And lift their voices against the cities of Judah.

Wie Feldwächter haben sie Juda umstellt; denn mir hat es getrotzt — Spruch des HERRN.

Dein Weg und deine Taten haben dir das eingebracht. Deine Bosheit ist schuld, dass es so bitter steht, dass es dich bis ins Herz trifft.

Have brought these things to you.

O mein Bauch, mein Bauch! Ich winde mich vor Schmerz. O meines Herzens Wände! Mein Herz tobt in mir; ich kann nicht schweigen. Denn ich höre Hörnerklang und Kriegsgeschrei;

Schlag auf Schlag schreit man, das ganze Land wird ver-wüstet. Plötzlich sind meine Zelte vernichtet, im Nu sind meine Zeltdecken dahin.
Disaster on disaster is proclaimed,

Wie lange noch muss ich das Feldzeichen sehen, die Stimme des Widderhorns hören?

Ach, töricht ist mein Volk; mich kennen sie nicht. Sie sind unverständige Kinder, ja, sie sind ohne Einsicht. Sie wissen, wie man Böses tut, aber Gutes zu tun verstehen sie nicht.

Ich schaute die Erde und siehe: Sie war wüst und wirr. Ich schaute zum Himmel: Er war ohne sein Licht.

Deswegen vertrocknet die Erde und verfinstert sich der Himmel droben, denn ich habe gesprochen und geplant, es reut mich nicht und ich nehme es nicht zurück.

Vor dem Lärm der Pferde und Bogenschützen flieht die ganze Stadt; sie gehen in Höhlen und sie steigen die Felsen hinauf. Verlassen ist jede Stadt, niemand wohnt mehr darin.

Du aber, was tust du, wenn du verwüstet bist? Wie kannst du in Purpur dich kleiden, mit Goldschmuck dich zieren, dir mit Schminke die Augen weiten? Umsonst machst du dich schön. Die Liebhaber verschmähen dich; sie trachten dir nach dem Leben.

Ja, ich höre das Schreien wie von einer Frau in Wehen, Stöhnen wie von einer Erstgebärenden, das Schreien der Tochter Zion, die nach Atem ringt und die Hände ausstreckt: Weh mir, denn mein Leben endet durch Mörder!
