Jesus Comforts His Disciples
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
Im Haus meines Vaters gibt es viele Wohnungen. Wenn es nicht so wäre, hätte ich euch dann gesagt: Ich gehe, um einen Platz für euch vorzubereiten?
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
Wenn ich gegangen bin und einen Platz für euch vorbereitet habe, komme ich wieder und werde euch zu mir holen, damit auch ihr dort seid, wo ich bin.
“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Thomas sagte zu ihm: Herr, wir wissen nicht, wohin du gehst. Wie können wir dann den Weg kennen?
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
Jesus sagte zu ihm: Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben; niemand kommt zum Vater außer durch mich.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Wenn ihr mich erkannt habt, werdet ihr auch meinen Vater erkennen. Schon jetzt kennt ihr ihn und habt ihn gesehen.
Oneness with the Father
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
Philippus sagte zu ihm: Herr, zeig uns den Vater; das genügt uns.
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
Jesus sagte zu ihm: Schon so lange bin ich bei euch und du hast mich nicht erkannt, Philippus? Wer mich gesehen hat, hat den Vater gesehen. Wie kannst du sagen: Zeig uns den Vater?
Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Glaubst du nicht, dass ich im Vater bin und dass der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die ich zu euch sage, habe ich nicht aus mir selbst. Der Vater, der in mir bleibt, vollbringt seine Werke.
“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
Glaubt mir doch, dass ich im Vater bin und dass der Vater in mir ist; wenn nicht, dann glaubt aufgrund eben dieser Werke!
“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Wer an mich glaubt, wird die Werke, die ich vollbringe, auch vollbringen und er wird noch größere als diese vollbringen, denn ich gehe zum Vater.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
Alles, um was ihr in meinem Namen bitten werdet, werde ich tun, damit der Vater im Sohn verherrlicht wird.
“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Wenn ihr mich um etwas in meinem Namen bitten werdet, werde ich es tun.
“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
Wenn ihr mich liebt, werdet ihr meine Gebote halten.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Und ich werde den Vater bitten und er wird euch einen anderen Beistand geben, der für immer bei euch bleiben soll,
Role of the Spirit
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
den Geist der Wahrheit, den die Welt nicht empfangen kann, weil sie ihn nicht sieht und nicht kennt. Ihr aber kennt ihn, weil er bei euch bleibt und in euch sein wird.
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Ich werde euch nicht als Waisen zurücklassen, ich komme zu euch.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Nur noch kurze Zeit und die Welt sieht mich nicht mehr; ihr aber seht mich, weil ich lebe und auch ihr leben werdet.
“After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.
An jenem Tag werdet ihr erkennen: Ich bin in meinem Vater, ihr seid in mir und ich bin in euch.
“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
Wer meine Gebote hat und sie hält, der ist es, der mich liebt; wer mich aber liebt, wird von meinem Vater geliebt werden und auch ich werde ihn lieben und mich ihm offenbaren.
“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”
Judas — nicht der Iskariot — fragte ihn: Herr, wie kommt es, dass du dich nur uns offenbaren willst und nicht der Welt?
Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus antwortete ihm: Wenn jemand mich liebt, wird er mein Wort halten; mein Vater wird ihn lieben und wir werden zu ihm kommen und bei ihm Wohnung nehmen.
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
Wer mich nicht liebt, hält meine Worte nicht. Und das Wort, das ihr hört, stammt nicht von mir, sondern vom Vater, der mich gesandt hat.
“He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
Das habe ich zu euch gesagt, während ich noch bei euch bin.
“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.
Der Beistand aber, der Heilige Geist, den der Vater in meinem Namen senden wird, der wird euch alles lehren und euch an alles erinnern, was ich euch gesagt habe.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
Frieden hinterlasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch; nicht, wie die Welt ihn gibt, gebe ich ihn euch. Euer Herz beunruhige sich nicht und verzage nicht.
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
Ihr habt gehört, dass ich zu euch sagte: Ich gehe fort und komme wieder zu euch. Wenn ihr mich liebtet, würdet ihr euch freuen, dass ich zum Vater gehe; denn der Vater ist größer als ich.
“You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Jetzt schon habe ich es euch gesagt, bevor es geschieht, damit ihr, wenn es geschieht, zum Glauben kommt.
“Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe.
Ich werde nicht mehr viel zu euch sagen; denn es kommt der Herrscher der Welt. Über mich hat er keine Macht,
“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
