Vor euch, Brüder und Schwestern, konnte ich aber nicht wie vor Geisterfüllten reden; ihr wart noch irdisch eingestellt, unmündige Kinder in Christus.
Milch gab ich euch zu trinken statt fester Speise; denn diese konntet ihr noch nicht vertragen. Ihr könnt es aber auch jetzt noch nicht;
I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready,
denn ihr seid immer noch irdisch eingestellt. Oder seid ihr nicht irdisch eingestellt, handelt ihr nicht sehr menschlich, wenn Eifersucht und Streit unter euch herrschen?
for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?
Denn wenn einer sagt: Ich halte zu Paulus!, ein anderer: Ich zu Apollos!, urteilt ihr da nicht zu menschlich?
When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world?
Was ist denn Apollos? Und was ist Paulus? Diener, durch die ihr zum Glauben gekommen seid, und jeder, wie der Herr es ihm gegeben hat:
After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.
Ich habe gepflanzt, Apollos hat begossen, Gott aber ließ wachsen.
I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
So ist weder der etwas, der pflanzt, noch der, der begießt, sondern nur Gott, der wachsen lässt.
It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
Wer pflanzt und wer begießt: Beide sind eins, jeder aber erhält seinen eigenen Lohn entsprechend seiner Mühe.
The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.
Denn wir sind Gottes Mitarbeiter; ihr seid Gottes Ackerfeld, Gottes Bau.
For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
Der Gnade Gottes entsprechend, die mir geschenkt wurde, habe ich wie ein weiser Baumeister den Grund gelegt; ein anderer baut darauf weiter. Aber jeder soll darauf achten, wie er weiterbaut.
Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful.
Denn einen anderen Grund kann niemand legen als den, der gelegt ist: Jesus Christus.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have — Jesus Christ.
Ob aber jemand auf dem Grund mit Gold, Silber, kostbaren Steinen, mit Holz, Heu oder Stroh weiterbaut:
Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials — gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.
Das Werk eines jeden wird offenbar werden; denn der Tag wird es sichtbar machen, weil er sich mit Feuer offenbart. Und wie das Werk eines jeden beschaffen ist, wird das Feuer prüfen.
But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.
Hält das Werk stand, das er aufgebaut hat, so empfängt er Lohn.
If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.
Brennt es nieder, dann muss er den Verlust tragen. Er selbst aber wird gerettet werden, doch so wie durch Feuer hindurch.
But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
Wisst ihr nicht, dass ihr Gottes Tempel seid und der Geist Gottes in euch wohnt?
Wer den Tempel Gottes zerstört, den wird Gott zerstören. Denn Gottes Tempel ist heilig und der seid ihr.
God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
Keiner täusche sich selbst. Wenn einer unter euch meint, er sei weise in dieser Welt, dann werde er töricht, um weise zu werden.
Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.
Denn die Weisheit dieser Welt ist Torheit vor Gott. In der Schrift steht nämlich: Er fängt die Weisen in ihrer eigenen List.
Und an einer anderen Stelle: Der Herr kennt die Gedanken der Weisen; er weiß, sie sind nichtig.
Daher soll sich niemand eines Menschen rühmen. Denn alles gehört euch;
So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you —
Paulus, Apollos, Kephas, Welt, Leben, Tod, Gegenwart und Zukunft: Alles gehört euch;
