Der HERR wird sich über die Nachkommen von Jakob erbarmen; er nimmt die Israeliten wieder als sein Volk an und bringt sie in ihre Heimat zurück. Auch aus anderen Nationen werden Menschen kommen und sich ihnen anschließen.

Fremde Völker werden den Israeliten bei der Rückkehr in das Land helfen, das der HERR ihnen einst geschenkt hatte. Dort werden sie ihnen als Knechte und Mägde dienen. Dann halten die Israeliten die gefangen, von denen sie in die Gefangenschaft geführt wurden, und herrschen über ihre ehemaligen Unterdrücker.

Nach all dem Leid, der Ruhelosigkeit und der harten Arbeit, zu der man euch Israeliten gezwungen hat, lässt der HERR eine Zeit anbrechen, in der ihr endlich in Frieden leben könnt.
Triumphant Exultation over Babel

Dann werdet ihr über den König von Babylonien ein Spottlied anstimmen: »Welch jähes Ende hat der Tyrann gefunden! Seine Schreckensherrschaft ist vorbei.
That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
Der HERR hat den Gotteslästerern die Macht genommen, zerbrochen hat er das Zepter des Tyrannen,

der in seiner Wut unablässig auf die Völker einschlug, der sie grausam unterdrückte und seinen Zorn an ihnen ausließ.
He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
Nun ist es friedlich geworden, und die Erde kommt zur Ruhe. Die ganze Welt bricht in Jubel aus.

Das Totenreich ist in Aufregung: Gespannt erwartet man dort unten deine Ankunft. Frühere Herrscher, die nun dort als Schatten leben, sind aufgeschreckt, Könige, die einst Völker regierten, erheben sich von ihren Thronen.
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Gemeinsam begrüßen sie dich mit einem Spottlied: ›Nun hat auch dich die Kraft verlassen, jetzt geht es dir wie uns!‹

Du hattest dir vorgenommen, immer höher hinauf bis zum Himmel zu steigen. Du dachtest: ›Hoch über Gottes Sternen will ich meinen Thron aufstellen. Auf dem Berg im äußersten Norden, wo die Götter sich versammeln, dort will ich meine Residenz errichten.

Er war es doch, der ganze Städte dem Erdboden gleichmachte und der die Erde verwüstete. Wen er gefangen nahm, der kam nie wieder zurück.‹
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Die Könige aller Völker werden ehrenvoll in prächtigen Gräbern beigesetzt,
All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
aber deine Leiche liegt zertrampelt und verachtet da wie ein abgerissener Zweig. Weit entfernt von der Ruhestätte deiner Vorfahren versinkst du unter den toten Soldaten, die das Schwert durchbohrt hat.
But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Nie sollst du bei deinen Vorfahren bestattet werden, denn du hast sogar dein eigenes Reich zugrunde gerichtet und dein Volk grausam umgebracht. Für alle Zeiten soll diese Sippe von Verbrechern vergessen sein.
Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Bringt seine Söhne her und schlachtet sie ab! Denn auf ihren Vorfahren lastet schwere Schuld. Nie wieder dürfen sie an die Macht kommen, nie wieder die Erde in Besitz nehmen und überall ihre Städte errichten!«
Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
So spricht der HERR, der allmächtige Gott: »Ich werde eingreifen und Babylon vollständig vernichten. Nichts soll mehr an den Ruhm der Stadt erinnern! Die ganze Sippe samt Kindern und Kindeskindern wird ausgelöscht. Darauf könnt ihr euch verlassen!

Babylon mache ich zum Sumpfgebiet, in dem die Igel hausen. Ich werde diesen Ort mit dem Besen der Zerstörung auskehren. Mein Wort gilt!«

God's Purpose against Assyria

Ich werde das assyrische Heer zerschlagen, noch während es in meinem Land wütet; ja, im Bergland Israels kommt es um. Dann wird mein Volk nicht länger von den Assyrern unterjocht, es muss nicht mehr unter ihrer schweren Last leiden.«
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
So hat Gott es für die ganze Erde beschlossen. Schon erhebt er seine Hand drohend gegen alle Völker, bereit zuzuschlagen.
This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
Wenn der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, sich etwas vorgenommen hat, wer kann seinen Plan dann noch durchkreuzen? Wenn seine Hand zum Schlag erhoben ist, wer kann ihn dann noch hindern?
For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
In dem Jahr, als König Ahas von Juda starb, empfing ich diese Botschaft von Gott:

Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
Die Ärmsten meines Volkes Israel werden reichlich zu essen haben, und die Notleidenden können wieder ohne Sorge leben. Euch aber lasse ich am Hunger zugrunde gehen, bis auch der letzte Rest von euch ausgelöscht ist.
And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
Ihr Wächter an den Toren, schreit laut! Heult, ihr Stadtbewohner! Zittert vor Angst, ihr Philister! Denn von Norden naht eine Rauchwolke. Es ist ein gewaltiges Heer, und keiner der Soldaten weicht aus den Reihen.«
Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
