Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

Dazu auch vormals, da Saul über uns König war, führtest du Israel aus und ein. So hat der HERR dir gesagt: Du sollst mein Volk Israel hüten und sollst ein Herzog sein über Israel.
Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
Und es kamen alle Ältesten in Israel zum König gen Hebron. Und der König David machte mit ihnen einen Bund zu Hebron vor dem HERRN, und sie salbten David zum König über Israel.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
30 Jahre war David alt, da er König ward, und regierte 40 Jahre.
David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
Zu Hebron regierte er sieben Jahre und sechs Monate über Juda; aber zu Jerusalem regierte er 33 Jahre über ganz Israel und Juda.
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
Und der König zog hin mit seinen Männern gen Jerusalem wider die Jebusiter, die im Lande wohnten. Sie aber sprachen zu David: Du wirst nicht hier hereinkommen, sondern Blinde und Lahme werden dich abtreiben. Damit meinten sie aber, daß David nicht würde dahinein kommen.
David Conquers Jerusalem
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

David aber gewann die Burg Zion, das ist Davids Stadt.
Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
Da sprach David desselben Tages: Wer die Jebusiter schlägt und erlangt die Dachrinnen, die Lahmen und die Blinden, denen die Seele Davids feind ist…! Daher spricht man: Laß keinen Blinden und Lahmen ins Haus kommen.
And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
Also wohnte David auf der Burg und hieß sie Davids Stadt. Und David baute ringsumher von Millo an einwärts.
So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
Und David nahm immer mehr zu, und der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, war mit ihm.

Und Hiram, der König zu Tyrus sandte Boten zu David und Zedernbäume und Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen, daß sie David ein Haus bauten.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
Und David merkte, daß ihn der HERR zum König über Israel bestätigt hatte und sein Königreich erhöht um seines Volks Israel willen.
David's Family Grows
And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

Und David nahm noch mehr Weiber und Kebsweiber zu Jerusalem, nachdem er von Hebron gekommmen war; und wurden ihm noch mehr Söhne und Töchter geboren.
And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
Und das sind die Namen derer, die ihm zu Jerusalem geboren sind: Sammua, Sobab, Nathan, Salomo,

Und da die Philister hörten, daß man David zum König über Israel gesalbt hatte, zogen sie alle herauf, David zu suchen. Da das David erfuhr, zog er hinab in eine Burg.
David Defeats the Philistines

Aber die Philister kamen und ließen sich nieder im Grunde Rephaim.

Und David fragte den HERRN und sprach: Soll ich hinaufziehen wider die Philister? und willst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der HERR sprach zu David: Zieh hinauf! ich will die Philister in deine Hände geben.
And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
Und David kam gen Baal–Perazim und schlug sie daselbst und sprach: Der HERR hat meine Feinde vor mir voneinander gerissen, wie die Wasser reißen. Daher hieß man denselben Ort Baal–Perazim.
And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
Und sie ließen ihre Götzen daselbst; David aber und seine Männer hoben sie auf.
And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
Die Philister aber zogen abermals herauf und ließen sich nieder im Grunde Rephaim.
And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
Und David fragte den HERRN; der sprach: Du sollst nicht hinaufziehen, sondern komm von hinten zu ihnen, daß du an sie kommest gegenüber den Maulbeerbäumen.
And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
Und wenn du hören wirst das Rauschen auf den Wipfeln der Maulbeerbäume einhergehen, so eile; denn der HERR ist dann ausgegangen vor dir her, zu schlagen das Heer der Philister.
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
