‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’

things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

Ich hatte von dir mit den Ohren gehört; aber nun hat dich mein Auge gesehen.

Darum spreche ich mich schuldig und tue Buße in Staub und Asche.
Da nun der HERR diese Worte mit Hiob geredet hatte, sprach er zu Eliphas von Theman: Mein Zorn ist ergrimmt über dich und über deine zwei Freunde; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.
The Lord Rebukes Job’s Friends
After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.

So nehmet nun sieben Farren und sieben Widder und gehet hin zu meinem Knecht Hiob und opfert Brandopfer für euch und lasset meinen Knecht Hiob für euch bitten. Denn ihn will ich ansehen, daß ich an euch nicht tue nach eurer Torheit; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.
Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.”
Da gingen hin Eliphas von Theman, Bildad von Suah und Zophar von Naema und taten, wie der HERR ihnen gesagt hatte; und der HERR sah an Hiob.
So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.
Und der HERR wandte das Gefängnis Hiobs, da er bat für seine Freunde. Und der HERR gab Hiob zwiefältig so viel, als er gehabt hatte.
The Lord Restores Job’s Fortunes
And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Und es kamen zu ihm alle seine Brüder und alle seine Schwestern und alle, die ihn vormals kannten, und aßen mit ihm in seinem Hause und kehrten sich zu ihm und trösteten ihn über alles Übel, das der HERR über ihn hatte kommen lassen. Und ein jeglicher gab ihm einen schönen Groschen und ein goldenes Stirnband.
Und der HERR segnete hernach Hiob mehr denn zuvor, daß er kriegte 14,000 Schafe und 6000 Kamele und 1000 Joch Rinder und 1000 Eselinnen.
And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
und hieß die erste Jemima, die andere Kezia und die dritte Keren–Happuch.
And he called the name of the first daughter Jemimah, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch.
Und wurden nicht so schöne Weiber gefunden in allen Landen wie die Töchter Hiobs. Und ihr Vater gab ihnen Erbteil unter ihren Brüdern.
And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
Und Hiob lebte nach diesem 140 Jahre, daß er sah Kinder und Kindeskinder bis in das vierte Glied.
And after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, four generations.
