Matthew 16

Da kamen die Pharisäer und Sadduzäer zu Jesus, um ihn zu versuchen. Sie forderten von ihm, ihnen ein Zeichen vom Himmel zu zeigen.

The Pharisees and Sadducees Seek a Sign

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

Er antwortete ihnen: Wenn es Abend wird, sagt ihr: Es kommt schönes Wetter; denn der Himmel ist feuerrot.

He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;

Und am Morgen sagt ihr: Heute kommt schlechtes Wetter, denn der Himmel ist feuerrot und trübt sich ein. Das Aussehen des Himmels wisst ihr zu beurteilen, die Zeichen der Zeit aber könnt ihr nicht beurteilen.

and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ [a]Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Diese böse und treulose Generation fordert ein Zeichen, aber es wird ihr kein anderes gegeben werden als das Zeichen des Jona. Und er ließ sie stehen und ging weg.

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of [b]the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Und die Jünger fuhren an das andere Ufer. Sie hatten vergessen, Brote mitzunehmen.

The Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees

Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Gebt Acht und hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer!

Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the [c]leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

Sie aber machten sich untereinander Gedanken und sagten: Wir haben kein Brot mitgenommen.

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

Als Jesus das merkte, sagte er: Ihr Kleingläubigen, was macht ihr euch darüber Gedanken, dass ihr kein Brot habt?

But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you [d]have brought no bread?

Begreift ihr noch nicht? Erinnert ihr euch nicht an die fünf Brote für die Fünftausend und wie viele Körbe ihr eingesammelt habt?

Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?

Auch nicht an die sieben Brote für die Viertausend und wie viele Körbe ihr eingesammelt habt?

Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?

Warum begreift ihr denn nicht, dass ich nicht von Brot gesprochen habe, als ich zu euch sagte: Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer?

How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? — but to beware of the [e]leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Da verstanden sie, dass er nicht gemeint hatte, sie sollten sich vor dem Sauerteig der Brote hüten, sondern vor der Lehre der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer.

Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the [f]doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Als Jesus in das Gebiet von Cäsarea Philippi kam, fragte er seine Jünger und sprach: Für wen halten die Menschen den Menschensohn?

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

Sie sagten: Die einen für Johannes den Täufer, andere für Elija, wieder andere für Jeremia oder sonst einen Propheten.

So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Da sagte er zu ihnen: Ihr aber, für wen haltet ihr mich?

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Simon Petrus antwortete und sprach: Du bist der Christus, der Sohn des lebendigen Gottes!

Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus antwortete und sagte zu ihm: Selig bist du, Simon Barjona; denn nicht Fleisch und Blut haben dir das offenbart, sondern mein Vater im Himmel.

Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Ich aber sage dir: Du bist Petrus und auf diesen Felsen werde ich meine Kirche bauen und die Pforten der Unterwelt werden sie nicht überwältigen.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [g]prevail against it.

Ich werde dir die Schlüssel des Himmelreichs geben; was du auf Erden binden wirst, das wird im Himmel gebunden sein, und was du auf Erden lösen wirst, das wird im Himmel gelöst sein.

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Dann befahl er den Jüngern, niemandem zu sagen, dass er der Christus sei.

Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

Von da an begann Jesus, seinen Jüngern zu erklären: Er müsse nach Jerusalem gehen und von den Ältesten und Hohepriestern und Schriftgelehrten vieles erleiden, getötet und am dritten Tag auferweckt werden.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Da nahm ihn Petrus beiseite und begann, ihn zurechtzuweisen, und sagte: Das soll Gott verhüten, Herr! Das darf nicht mit dir geschehen!

Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, [i]“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

Jesus aber wandte sich um und sagte zu Petrus: Tritt hinter mich, du Satan! Ein Ärgernis bist du mir, denn du hast nicht das im Sinn, was Gott will, sondern was die Menschen wollen.

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are [j]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Darauf sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: Wenn einer hinter mir hergehen will, verleugne er sich selbst, nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach.

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Denn wer sein Leben retten will, wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben um meinetwillen verliert, wird es finden.

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Was nützt es einem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewinnt, dabei aber sein Leben einbüßt? Um welchen Preis kann ein Mensch sein Leben zurückkaufen?

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Der Menschensohn wird mit seinen Engeln in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters kommen und dann wird er jedem nach seinen Taten vergelten.

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Amen, ich sage euch: Von denen, die hier stehen, werden einige den Tod nicht schmecken, bis sie den Menschensohn in seinem Reich kommen sehen.

Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
