»Wenn jemand auf seiner Haut eine Schwellung, einen Ausschlag oder einen hellen Fleck entdeckt und darum Verdacht auf Aussatz besteht, dann soll er zum Priester gebracht werden, zu Aaron oder zu einem seiner Söhne.
Der Priester untersucht die erkrankte Stelle: Ist das Haar dort weiß geworden und erscheint die Haut tiefer als ringsum, dann ist es Aussatz, und der Priester muss den Kranken für unrein erklären.
and the priest shall examine the diseased area on the skin of his body. And if the hair in the diseased area has turned white and the disease appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a case of leprous disease. When the priest has examined him, he shall pronounce him unclean.
Wenn der Fleck zwar weiß ist, aber nicht tiefer liegt als die Haut ringsum und sich das Haar auch nicht weiß verfärbt hat, soll der Priester den Betreffenden für sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort schicken.
But if the spot is white in the skin of his body and appears no deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest shall shut up the diseased person for seven days.
Am Ende dieser Woche untersucht ihn der Priester erneut. Sieht er, dass der weiße Fleck sich auf der Haut nicht weiter ausgebreitet hat, soll er den Betreffenden ein weiteres Mal für sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort schicken.
And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day, and if in his eyes the disease is checked and the disease has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up for another seven days.
Danach begutachtet ihn der Priester noch einmal. Sieht er, dass die Verfärbung der Haut nachgelassen und die Krankheit sich nicht weiter ausgebreitet hat, soll er ihn für rein erklären; denn der Fleck ist nur ein Hautausschlag. Der Kranke muss lediglich seine Kleider waschen, dann ist er wieder rein.
And the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day, and if the diseased area has faded and the disease has not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is only an eruption. And he shall wash his clothes and be clean.
Wenn sich aber der Ausschlag wider Erwarten doch noch ausbreitet, nachdem der Priester den Kranken untersucht und für rein erklärt hat, soll er sich erneut dem Priester zeigen.
But if the eruption spreads in the skin, after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall appear again before the priest.
Stellt dieser dann fest, dass der Ausschlag doch weiter um sich greift, muss er den Kranken für unrein erklären, weil es Aussatz ist.
And the priest shall look, and if the eruption has spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a leprous disease.
Immer wenn bei einem Menschen Verdacht auf Aussatz besteht, soll er zum Priester gebracht werden.
“When a man is afflicted with a leprous disease, he shall be brought to the priest,
Sieht dieser eine weiße Schwellung mit weiß verfärbten Haaren und wild wucherndem Fleisch,
and the priest shall look. And if there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,
dann ist es weit fortgeschrittener Aussatz. Der Priester muss den Kranken sofort für unrein erklären, ohne ihn vorher noch zur Beobachtung an einen abgesonderten Ort zu schicken.
it is a chronic leprous disease in the skin of his body, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean. He shall not shut him up, for he is unclean.
Wenn sich aber der Aussatz rasch auf der Haut ausbreitet und den Kranken von Kopf bis Fuß bedeckt,
And if the leprous disease breaks out in the skin, so that the leprous disease covers all the skin of the diseased person from head to foot, so far as the priest can see,
wenn also der Priester sieht, dass der Aussatz die Haut ganz erfasst hat, erklärt er den Betreffenden für rein. Weil die Haut dann ganz weiß ist, gilt er als rein.
then the priest shall look, and if the leprous disease has covered all his body, he shall pronounce him clean of the disease; it has all turned white, and he is clean.
Zeigt sich aber wucherndes Fleisch, ist er unrein.
But when raw flesh appears on him, he shall be unclean.
Der Priester muss ihn, sobald er es sieht, für unrein erklären. Wild wucherndes Fleisch ist in jedem Fall unrein, denn es handelt sich um Aussatz.
And the priest shall examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean. Raw flesh is unclean, for it is a leprous disease.
Bildet sich aber das wuchernde Fleisch zurück und wird die Stelle wieder weiß, soll der Betreffende den Priester aufsuchen.
But if the raw flesh recovers and turns white again, then he shall come to the priest,
Sieht dieser, dass die Haut dort tatsächlich wieder weiß geworden ist, erklärt er ihn für rein.
and the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce the diseased person clean; he is clean.
Wenn sich auf der Haut eines Menschen ein Geschwür bildet und wieder abheilt,
“If there is in the skin of one’s body a boil and it heals,
dann aber an dieser Stelle eine weiße Schwellung oder ein weißlich-roter Fleck entsteht, soll der Kranke sich dem Priester zeigen.
and in the place of the boil there comes a white swelling or a reddish-white spot, then it shall be shown to the priest.
Stellt dieser eine Vertiefung der Haut und weiß gewordenes Haar fest, erklärt er den Kranken für unrein. Denn dann hat sich an der Stelle, wo vorher das Geschwür war, Aussatz gebildet.
And the priest shall look, and if it appears deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a case of leprous disease that has broken out in the boil.
Sieht der Priester aber, dass sich das Haar nicht weiß verfärbt hat, die Stelle nicht tiefer liegt als die Haut ringsum und auch die Verfärbung schon nachlässt, dann schickt er den Betreffenden für sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort.
But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in it and it is not deeper than the skin, but has faded, then the priest shall shut him up seven days.
Breitet sich der Hautausschlag in dieser Zeit weiter aus, erklärt der Priester den Kranken für unrein, denn es handelt sich um Aussatz.
And if it spreads in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a disease.
Wird aber der Fleck nicht größer, dann ist es die Narbe des abgeheilten Geschwürs. Der Priester soll den Betreffenden für rein erklären.
But if the spot remains in one place and does not spread, it is the scar of the boil, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
Wenn jemand eine Brandwunde hat und sich dort ein weiß-roter oder weißer Fleck bildet,
“Or, when the body has a burn on its skin and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a spot, reddish-white or white,
muss er den Priester aufsuchen. Stellt dieser fest, dass sich das Haar dort weiß verfärbt hat und die Stelle tiefer liegt als die Haut ringsum, dann handelt es sich um Aussatz, der in der Brandwunde ausgebrochen ist. Der Priester erklärt den Kranken für unrein, weil er aussätzig ist.
the priest shall examine it, and if the hair in the spot has turned white and it appears deeper than the skin, then it is a leprous disease. It has broken out in the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a case of leprous disease.
Bemerkt der Priester aber keine weißen Haare im Bereich des Flecks und auch keine Vertiefung oder starke Verfärbung der Haut, dann soll er den Kranken für sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort schicken.
But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the spot and it is no deeper than the skin, but has faded, the priest shall shut him up seven days,
Stellt er am siebten Tag fest, dass sich der Fleck ausgebreitet hat, muss er den Kranken für unrein erklären, denn es handelt sich um Aussatz.
and the priest shall examine him the seventh day. If it is spreading in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a case of leprous disease.
Wenn aber der Fleck nicht größer wird und die Haut wieder annähernd normal aussieht, ist es nur die Narbe der Brandwunde. Darum erklärt der Priester ihn für rein.
But if the spot remains in one place and does not spread in the skin, but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn, and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is the scar of the burn.
Bekommt jemand, egal ob Mann oder Frau, auf der Kopfhaut oder auf der Haut unter dem Bart einen Ausschlag,
“When a man or woman has a disease on the head or the beard,
soll der Priester die Stelle untersuchen. Sieht er eine Vertiefung der Haut mit schütterem, gelblichem Haar, erklärt er den Betreffenden für unrein. Es handelt sich um Aussatz an Kopf oder Kinn.
the priest shall examine the disease. And if it appears deeper than the skin, and the hair in it is yellow and thin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is an itch, a leprous disease of the head or the beard.
Stellt der Priester fest, dass die befallene Stelle nicht tiefer liegt als die umliegende Haut, die Haare sich aber trotzdem verfärbt haben, soll er den Kranken für sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort schicken.
And if the priest examines the itching disease and it appears no deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up the person with the itching disease for seven days,
Sieht der Priester am siebten Tag, dass der Ausschlag sich nicht ausgebreitet hat, kein gelbliches Haar dort zu finden ist und die Stelle auch nicht tiefer liegt,
and on the seventh day the priest shall examine the disease. If the itch has not spread, and there is in it no yellow hair, and the itch appears to be no deeper than the skin,
dann soll der Kranke sich rasieren, aber die befallene Stelle aussparen. Der Priester schickt ihn für weitere sieben Tage an einen abgesonderten Ort.
then he shall shave himself, but the itch he shall not shave; and the priest shall shut up the person with the itching disease for another seven days.
Stellt er danach fest, dass sich der Ausschlag nicht weiter ausgebreitet hat und die Haut dort auch nicht tiefer liegt als ringsum, soll er den Betreffenden für rein erklären. Dieser wäscht seine Kleider und gilt dann als rein.
And on the seventh day the priest shall examine the itch, and if the itch has not spread in the skin and it appears to be no deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean. And he shall wash his clothes and be clean.
Wenn sich der Ausschlag wider Erwarten doch noch ausbreitet,
But if the itch spreads in the skin after his cleansing,
soll der Priester den Kranken erneut untersuchen und ihn, sobald er es sieht, für unrein erklären. Er braucht gar nicht erst nach gelblichen Haaren zu suchen.
then the priest shall examine him, and if the itch has spread in the skin, the priest need not seek for the yellow hair; he is unclean.
Sieht er aber, dass der Ausschlag zum Stillstand gekommen und schwarzes Haar nachgewachsen ist, dann ist der Betreffende wieder gesund, und der Priester erklärt ihn für rein.
But if in his eyes the itch is unchanged and black hair has grown in it, the itch is healed and he is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
Bilden sich auf der Haut eines Mannes oder einer Frau weiße Flecken,
“When a man or a woman has spots on the skin of the body, white spots,
soll der Priester sie untersuchen. Sind die Flecken nur weißlich-blass, dann handelt es sich um einen gutartigen Ausschlag, und der Betreffende ist rein.
the priest shall look, and if the spots on the skin of the body are of a dull white, it is leukoderma that has broken out in the skin; he is clean.
Verliert ein Mann die Haare auf seinem Kopf, sei es am Hinterkopf oder an der Stirnseite, bleibt er trotzdem rein.
“If a man’s hair falls out from his head, he is bald; he is clean.
Wenn aber an der kahlen Stelle ein weiß-rötlicher Ausschlag entsteht, muss der Priester den Mann gründlich untersuchen. Stellt er fest, dass sich dort auch eine Schwellung gebildet hat, die genau wie Aussatz am Körper aussieht,
But if there is on the bald head or the bald forehead a reddish-white diseased area, it is a leprous disease breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.
dann hat der Mann Aussatz, und der Priester muss ihn für unrein erklären.«
he is a leprous man, he is unclean. The priest must pronounce him unclean; his disease is on his head.
»Ein Aussätziger soll zerrissene Kleider tragen, das Haar ungeschnitten und ungekämmt lassen, den Bart verhüllen und immer wieder rufen: ›Unrein, unrein!‹
Solange er vom Aussatz befallen ist, gilt er als unrein. Er soll außerhalb des Lagers wohnen, abgesondert von allen anderen.«
He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp.
»Wenn an einem Kleidungsstück oder Gewebe aus Wolle oder Leinen, an einem Stück Leder oder an irgendetwas anderem, das aus Leder gemacht ist, ein grünlicher oder rötlicher Fleck auftritt, dann ist es von Schimmel befallen, und man soll es dem Priester zeigen.
“When there is a case of leprous disease in a garment, whether a woolen or a linen garment,
Dieser begutachtet die Stelle und schließt den betreffenden Gegenstand sieben Tage lang ein.
And the priest shall examine the disease and shut up that which has the disease for seven days.
Stellt er am siebten Tag fest, dass sich der Befall ausgebreitet hat, dann ist es fressender Schimmel. Der Gegenstand ist dadurch unrein
Then he shall examine the disease on the seventh day. If the disease has spread in the garment, in the warp or the woof, or in the skin, whatever be the use of the skin, the disease is a persistent leprous disease; it is unclean.
und muss verbrannt werden. Weil der Schimmel sich immer weiter ausbreiten würde, muss das befallene Stück restlos beseitigt werden, ganz gleich ob es aus Wolle, Leinen oder Leder gemacht ist.
And he shall burn the garment, or the warp or the woof, the wool or the linen, or any article made of skin that is diseased, for it is a persistent leprous disease. It shall be burned in the fire.
Stellt der Priester aber fest, dass der Schimmelfleck nicht größer geworden ist,
“And if the priest examines, and if the disease has not spread in the garment, in the warp or the woof or in any article made of skin,
ordnet er an, dass man das Stück wäscht und weitere sieben Tage einschließt.
then the priest shall command that they wash the thing in which is the disease, and he shall shut it up for another seven days.
Sieht der Priester nach dieser Zeit, dass der Fleck zwar nicht größer geworden ist, aber immer noch so aussieht wie vorher, ist der betreffende Gegenstand unrein und muss verbrannt werden. Denn der Schimmel hat sich tief eingefressen. Dabei spielt es keine Rolle, ob die Außenseite oder die Innenseite befallen ist.
And the priest shall examine the diseased thing after it has been washed. And if the appearance of the diseased area has not changed, though the disease has not spread, it is unclean. You shall burn it in the fire, whether the rot is on the back or on the front.
Bemerkt der Priester aber, dass die Stelle durch das Waschen blass geworden ist, soll er sie aus dem Stoff oder Leder heraustrennen.
“But if the priest examines, and if the diseased area has faded after it has been washed, he shall tear it out of the garment or the skin or the warp or the woof.
Falls nun wiederum Schimmel an einer anderen Stelle auftritt, muss das Stück verbrannt werden, denn der Schimmel hat es bereits ganz befallen.
Then if it appears again in the garment, in the warp or the woof, or in any article made of skin, it is spreading. You shall burn with fire whatever has the disease.
Ist der Schimmel jedoch nach dem Waschen verschwunden, wäscht man das Stück noch einmal. Danach ist es rein.
But the garment, or the warp or the woof, or any article made of skin from which the disease departs when you have washed it, shall then be washed a second time, and be clean.”
Dies sind die Vorschriften über Schimmelpilzbefall an einem Kleidungsstück oder Gewebe aus Wolle oder Leinen, an einem Stück Leder oder an irgendetwas anderem, das aus Leder gemacht ist. Mit Hilfe dieser Bestimmungen soll entschieden werden, ob der befallene Gegenstand rein oder unrein ist.«
This is the law for a case of leprous disease in a garment of wool or linen, either in the warp or the woof, or in any article made of skin, to determine whether it is clean or unclean.
