“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go to war in Israel.”
Da redeten Mose und der Priester Eleasar zu den Israeliten in den Steppen von Moab, am Jordan bei Jericho:
So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho, saying:

Das waren die Sippen der Rubeniter. Die Zahl der bei ihnen Gemusterten betrug 43 730 Mann.

die Söhne Eliabs: Nemuël, Datan und Abiram. Datan und Abiram waren die Abgeordneten der Gemeinde, die mit Mose und Aaron in Streit geraten waren, zusammen mit der Gemeinde Korachs, als diese mit dem HERRN in Streit geraten war.

Die Gesamtzahl der gemusterten Israeliten betrug 601 730 Mann.
These are those who were numbered of the children of Israel: six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.
An diese Männer soll das Land als Erbbesitz verteilt werden, entsprechend der Zahl der Namen.
“To these the land shall be divided as an inheritance, according to the number of names.
Wer mehr Namen zählt, dem sollst du einen größeren Erbbesitz geben; wer weniger zählt, dem sollst du einen kleineren Erbbesitz geben. Jedem soll sein Erbbesitz entsprechend der Zahl der bei ihm Gemusterten gegeben werden.
To a large tribe you shall give a larger inheritance, and to a small tribe you shall give a smaller inheritance. Each shall be given its inheritance according to those who were numbered of them.
Doch soll das Land durch das Los verteilt werden und sie sollen ihren Erbbesitz nach den Namen der Stämme ihrer Väter erhalten.
But the land shall be divided by lot; they shall inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.

Das waren die Gemusterten Levis nach ihren Sippen: von Gerschon die Sippe der Gerschoniter, von Kehat die Sippe der Kehatiter, von Merari die Sippe der Merariter.
And these are those who were numbered of the Levites according to their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

Nadab und Abihu aber waren gestorben, als sie vor dem HERRN ein unrechtmäßiges Feueropfer darbrachten.
And Nadab and Abihu died when they offered profane fire before the Lord.
Bei den Leviten wurden im Ganzen 23 000 Mann gemustert, alle männlichen Personen im Alter von einem Monat und darüber. Sie wurden aber nicht zusammen mit den Israeliten gemustert; denn ihnen wurde kein Erbbesitz unter den Israeliten gegeben.
Now those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above; for they were not numbered among the other children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given to them among the children of Israel.
Das waren die von Mose und dem Priester Eleasar Gemusterten, die Israeliten, die sie in den Steppen von Moab am Jordan bei Jericho gemustert hatten.
These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.
