Da rief er ein Kind herbei, stellte es in ihre Mitte
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
und sagte: Amen, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr nicht umkehrt und werdet wie die Kinder, werdet ihr nicht in das Himmelreich hineinkommen.
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Wer sich so klein macht wie dieses Kind, der ist im Himmelreich der Größte.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Und wer ein solches Kind in meinem Namen aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
Wer einem von diesen Kleinen, die an mich glauben, Ärgernis gibt, für den wäre es besser, wenn ihm ein Mühlstein um den Hals gehängt und er in der Tiefe des Meeres versenkt würde.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Wehe der Welt wegen der Ärgernisse! Es muss zwar Ärgernisse geben; doch wehe dem Menschen, durch den das Ärgernis kommt!
Temptations and Trespasses
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Wenn dir deine Hand oder dein Fuß Ärgernis gibt, dann hau sie ab und wirf sie weg! Es ist besser für dich, verstümmelt oder lahm in das Leben zu gelangen, als mit zwei Händen und zwei Füßen in das ewige Feuer geworfen zu werden.
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
Und wenn dir dein Auge Ärgernis gibt, dann reiß es aus! Es ist besser für dich, einäugig in das Leben zu kommen, als mit zwei Augen in das Feuer der Hölle geworfen zu werden.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
Hütet euch davor, einen von diesen Kleinen zu verachten! Denn ich sage euch: Ihre Engel im Himmel sehen stets das Angesicht meines himmlischen Vaters. [11]
The Parable of the Lost Sheep

Was meint ihr? Wenn jemand hundert Schafe hat und eines von ihnen sich verirrt, lässt er dann nicht die neunundneunzig auf den Bergen zurück, geht hin und sucht das verirrte?
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
Und wenn er es findet — Amen, ich sage euch: Er freut sich über dieses eine mehr als über die neunundneunzig, die sich nicht verirrt haben.
And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
So will auch euer himmlischer Vater nicht, dass einer von diesen Kleinen verloren geht.
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
Wenn dein Bruder gegen dich sündigt, dann geh und weise ihn unter vier Augen zurecht! Hört er auf dich, so hast du deinen Bruder zurückgewonnen.
A Brother who Sins
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

Hört er aber nicht auf dich, dann nimm einen oder zwei mit dir, damit die ganze Sache durch die Aussage von zwei oder drei Zeugen entschieden werde.
But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Hört er auch auf sie nicht, dann sag es der Gemeinde! Hört er aber auch auf die Gemeinde nicht, dann sei er für dich wie ein Heide oder ein Zöllner.
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Amen, ich sage euch: Alles, was ihr auf Erden binden werdet, das wird auch im Himmel gebunden sein, und alles, was ihr auf Erden lösen werdet, das wird auch im Himmel gelöst sein.
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Weiter sage ich euch: Was auch immer zwei von euch auf Erden einmütig erbitten, werden sie von meinem himmlischen Vater erhalten.
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Denn wo zwei oder drei in meinem Namen versammelt sind, da bin ich mitten unter ihnen.

Da trat Petrus zu ihm und fragte: Herr, wie oft muss ich meinem Bruder vergeben, wenn er gegen mich sündigt? Bis zu siebenmal?
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Jesus sagte zu ihm: Ich sage dir nicht: Bis zu siebenmal, sondern bis zu siebzigmal siebenmal.
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Mit dem Himmelreich ist es deshalb wie mit einem König, der beschloss, von seinen Knechten Rechenschaft zu verlangen.
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
Als er nun mit der Abrechnung begann, brachte man einen zu ihm, der ihm zehntausend Talente schuldig war.
And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
Weil er aber das Geld nicht zurückzahlen konnte, befahl der Herr, ihn mit Frau und Kindern und allem, was er besaß, zu verkaufen und so die Schuld zu begleichen.
But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
Da fiel der Knecht vor ihm auf die Knie und bat: Hab Geduld mit mir! Ich werde dir alles zurückzahlen.
The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Der Herr des Knechtes hatte Mitleid, ließ ihn gehen und schenkte ihm die Schuld.
Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
Als nun der Knecht hinausging, traf er einen Mitknecht, der ihm hundert Denare schuldig war. Er packte ihn, würgte ihn und sagte: Bezahl, was du schuldig bist!
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
Da fiel der Mitknecht vor ihm nieder und flehte: Hab Geduld mit mir! Ich werde es dir zurückzahlen.
And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Er aber wollte nicht, sondern ging weg und ließ ihn ins Gefängnis werfen, bis er die Schuld bezahlt habe.
And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
Als die Mitknechte das sahen, waren sie sehr betrübt; sie gingen zu ihrem Herrn und berichteten ihm alles, was geschehen war.
So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
Da ließ ihn sein Herr rufen und sagte zu ihm: Du elender Knecht! Deine ganze Schuld habe ich dir erlassen, weil du mich angefleht hast.
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
Hättest nicht auch du mit deinem Mitknecht Erbarmen haben müssen, so wie ich mit dir Erbarmen hatte?
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
Und in seinem Zorn übergab ihn der Herr den Peinigern, bis er die ganze Schuld bezahlt habe.
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
