Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples,
Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples,
und sagte: Auf dem Stuhl des Mose sitzen die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer.
saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses;
Tut und befolgt also alles, was sie euch sagen, aber richtet euch nicht nach ihren Taten; denn sie reden nur, tun es aber nicht.
therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.
Sie schnüren schwere und unerträgliche Lasten zusammen und legen sie den Menschen auf die Schultern, selber aber wollen sie keinen Finger rühren, um die Lasten zu bewegen.
“They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger.
Alles, was sie tun, tun sie, um von den Menschen gesehen zu werden: Sie machen ihre Gebetsriemen breit und die Quasten an ihren Gewändern lang,
“But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.

“They love the place of honor at banquets and the chief seats in the synagogues,

Ihr aber sollt euch nicht Rabbi nennen lassen; denn nur einer ist euer Meister, ihr alle aber seid Brüder.
“But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.
Auch sollt ihr niemanden auf Erden euren Vater nennen; denn nur einer ist euer Vater, der im Himmel.
“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
Auch sollt ihr euch nicht Lehrer nennen lassen; denn nur einer ist euer Lehrer, Christus.
“Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ.
Denn wer sich selbst erhöht, wird erniedrigt, und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, wird erhöht werden.
“Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr verschließt den Menschen das Himmelreich. Denn ihr selbst geht nicht hinein und lasst die nicht hinein, die hineingehen wollen. [14]
Eight Woes
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr zieht über Land und Meer, um einen einzigen Menschen für euren Glauben zu gewinnen; und wenn er gewonnen ist, dann macht ihr ihn zu einem Sohn der Hölle, doppelt so schlimm wie ihr selbst.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
Weh euch, ihr seid blinde Führer! Ihr sagt: Wenn einer beim Tempel schwört, gilt es nicht, wenn er aber beim Gold des Tempels schwört, gilt es.
“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is obligated.’
Ihr blinden Narren! Was ist wichtiger: das Gold oder der Tempel, der das Gold erst heilig macht?
“You fools and blind men! Which is more important, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?
Auch sagt ihr: Wenn einer beim Altar schwört, gilt es nicht, wenn er aber bei dem Opfer schwört, das auf dem Altar liegt, gilt es.
“And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, that is nothing, but whoever swears by the offering on it, he is obligated.’
Ihr Blinden! Was ist wichtiger: das Opfer oder der Altar, der das Opfer erst heilig macht?
“You blind men, which is more important, the offering, or the altar that sanctifies the offering?
Wer beim Altar schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei allem, was darauf liegt.
“Therefore, whoever swears by the altar, swears both by the altar and by everything on it.
Und wer beim Tempel schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei dem, der darin wohnt.
“And whoever swears by the temple, swears both by the temple and by Him who dwells within it.
Und wer beim Himmel schwört, der schwört beim Thron Gottes und bei dem, der darauf sitzt.
“And whoever swears by heaven, swears both by the throne of God and by Him who sits upon it.
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr gebt den Zehnten von Minze, Dill und Kümmel und lasst das Wichtigste im Gesetz außer Acht: Recht, Barmherzigkeit und Treue. Man muss das eine tun, ohne das andere zu lassen.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others.
Blinde Führer seid ihr: Ihr siebt die Mücke aus und verschluckt das Kamel.
“You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr haltet Becher und Schüsseln außen sauber, innen aber sind sie voll von Raffsucht und Gier.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence.
Du blinder Pharisäer! Mach den Becher zuerst innen sauber, dann ist er auch außen rein.
“You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr seid wie getünchte Gräber, die von außen schön aussehen, innen aber voll sind von Knochen der Toten und aller Unreinheit.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
So erscheint auch ihr von außen den Menschen gerecht, innen aber seid ihr voll Heuchelei und Gesetzlosigkeit.
“So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Weh euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler! Ihr errichtet den Propheten Grabstätten und schmückt die Denkmäler der Gerechten
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous,
und sagt dabei: Wenn wir in den Tagen unserer Väter gelebt hätten, wären wir nicht wie sie am Blut der Propheten schuldig geworden.
and say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
Damit bestätigt ihr selbst, dass ihr die Söhne der Prophetenmörder seid.
“So you testify against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.
Ihr Nattern, ihr Schlangenbrut! Wie wollt ihr dem Strafgericht der Hölle entrinnen?
“You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?
Darum siehe, ich sende Propheten, Weise und Schriftgelehrte zu euch; ihr aber werdet einige von ihnen töten und kreuzigen, andere in euren Synagogen auspeitschen und von Stadt zu Stadt verfolgen.
“Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city,
So wird all das unschuldige Blut über euch kommen, das auf Erden vergossen worden ist, vom Blut Abels, des Gerechten, bis zum Blut des Zacharias, Barachias’ Sohn, den ihr zwischen dem Tempelgebäude und dem Altar ermordet habt.
so that upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
Amen, ich sage euch: Das alles wird über diese Generation kommen.
“Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, du tötest die Propheten und steinigst die Boten, die zu dir gesandt sind. Wie oft wollte ich deine Kinder sammeln, so wie eine Henne ihre Küken unter ihre Flügel nimmt; aber ihr habt nicht gewollt.

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.
